Leaving strips folded in half, trim selvages, then cut 5 squares, starting at cut end. (Each strip will yield 8 complete squares.) Arrange squares in grid format, 9 squares by 9 squares, distributing lights and darks and rotating gradients to form a pleasing arrangement.

Sew squares into rows with a 1/4 seam, pressing seams to one side, alternating with each row. Sew rows together, pressing seams to one side. Sandwich backing, batting, and patchwork. Baste. WOF Stitch in the ditch between squares with black thread. Leaves: Fold leaf fabric in half widthwise, cut edge to cut edge, right sides together. With fabric marker, mark leaf shapes as shown. Sew 1/4 away from each line. Cut leaves apart on solid lines. Trim extra fabric near points of leaves. Turn right side out and press. Pin to diagram as shown. Stitch down center of each leaf to secure to background. Bowl: Sandwich (1) 5 by 18 section of batting, 1 strip of bowl fabric, face up, and remaining section of bowl fabric, face down. Using a small bowl or lid, round edges of rectangle. Sew around sides and top of bowl. Clip curves and turn right side out. Press. Quilt bowl shape, using method desired (shown- pebble quilting.)
