Setup

1) It is highly recommended that you close all other applications before installation. 2) Attach your hardlock to your computer. Make sure it is securely fastened. NOTE 1: If you have other peripheral devices (ex. other hardlocks) attached, you may need to remove them in order to run VISSIM. NOTE 2: Agency licenses do not require hardlocks. NOTE 3: Network (server) licenses should follow this procedure: 1. Attach the network hardlock to the server. 2. Make sure that your server and client are on the same network. If you have an intranet firewall or enterprise antivirus service running, you may need to adjust these to allow communication between the server and client. 3. Install the Hardlock Server software. This is included in the subdirectory Hardlock\HLServer\ of the installation package (CD) or can be downloaded from:
http://www.aladdin.de/produkte/hardlock/e_download_setup_pro grams.html

Download the link: hlsw32_inst.zip (HL-Server Installation (Win32) and extract hat zip file, then run hlsw32.exe. You may also want to download the Hardlock Monitor, which is located on the same page as the link: aksmon.zip (Aladdin Server Monitor). 4. If the hardlock service does not start, you can use the aksmon32.exe application to administer the hardlocks. With this, you can add or remove modules (hardlocks). To add a hardlock, you have to enter the correct hardlock number under Add Module. In this case, you should add the hardlock number that is written on the network hardlock itself (example: ' 28885' ). After that, the hardlock ID will appear in the server table list. 5. Install VISSIM on the client pc. Be sure that you install the client hardlock driver during the installation (this is embedded in the VISSIM/VISSIM install and should start automatically during the client installation).

a. Your company name b. Your hardlock number (ex. 28885-123456) c. Any error message (ex. "Hardlock API Error Code 19") you see when trying to start VISSIM Note for users installing, not from a CD, but from an online install: If you receive a message like this when starting VISSIM for the first time: Description: VISSIM License Check: Dongle (license number #) doesnt match the VISSIM installation (license number 249999). Solution: The second license number mentioned in this message (249999) is the one used in the default key file included in the downloadable installation. To get a key file that references your specific dongle (hardlock), you need to follow the following instructions:. Worldwide Users: Send an email to traffic.customerservice@ptv.de North American Users: Send an email to updater@ptvamerica.com with your company name and which hardlocks (ex. "28885-12345") you would like to upgrade. You will then receive an email with a link for where to download your key file(s). 21) VISSIM Analyzer. This feature works only if you have an installation of Microsoft Excel XP or newer on your computer. If you want to create a VISSIM Analyzer report in PDF format you need to install additionally the free tool PDF Creator with Ghostscript. You can download this tool from: https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=57796&package_id= 53473&release_id=442172 22) Documentation. VISSIM manuals can be found on the installation CD (and on the hard disk after the installation) under the folder ' DOC' . 23) Examples. The VISSIM user manual (VISSIM_430_e.pdf) refers to many examples. They will be installed during Typical installation to your VISSIM installation directory under the folder ' Example' . API for performing various tasks. These files are located under the folder Example\Training\COM. Note: under the Documents folder on the CD, see the VISSIM_COM.pdf manual for more information and samples using COM with VISSIM. 25) Service Packs. Users with valid maintenance can upgrade to the latest service pack from here: http://www.vissim.de/cgi-bin/traffic/vissim_download.pl For the installation of the service pack, the downloaded zip archive has to be unpacked with a suitable program. All files from the archive except vissim0.exe need to be copied into the VISSIM subdirectory Exe. (Older versions of the same files should be renamed or moved to a different directory before this). The password for downloading is vissim44u222xe. We strongly recommend users view the release notes for each patch before upgrading. If you have any questions on whether to upgrade to a particular patch, please send an email to our hotline at: hotline@ptvamerica.com. Please register at the download section for an automatic email notification service if you want to receive a note whenever a new service pack is available: http://www.vissim.de/cgi-bin/traffic/vissim_mailinglist.pl 26) 3D Models. If you get warning messages when opening a file created in an older version of VISSIM that says something like: 3D model file c:\program files\ptv_vision\vissim430\exe\3DModles\....v3d not found! This means that your VISSIM file has references to 3D objects or vehicles that are no longer included with VISSIM 5.00, either because these were old files that were replaced or duplicated files with different names. If these are 3D vehicles, the best solution would be to replace the references with the newer updated vehicles. But, if these are static objects, you can simply copy these files from your previous VISSIM directory or you can download the files from www.ptvamerica.com/3dmodels.html
