Story about Being Truthful

AN HONEST WOODCUTTER A poor woodcutter accidentally dropped his axe into the river. He was very upset, as he had no money to buy another axe. Just then a fairy appeared in the river holding out a golden axe to him. "I found this axe in the river. Is this yours?" "That's not mine", replied the woodcutter. The fairy then brought out a silver axe. The woodcutter disowned this one too. Finally, the fairy held out a wooden axe. Smiling with happiness, the woodcutter said, "That's mine. Thank you very much." The fairy felt very happy seeing his honesty and said, "Such honesty deserves a reward." She gave the poor man all the three axes and disappeared.

Story about Being Thrifty The Thrifty Tailor Once there was a tailor. He was not only a very good tailor, he was also a great believer in recycling. This means he liked to "reuse" items. He changed or adapted things for a new use. The tailor wasted nothing! He was always seen taking an old item of clothing and making it into something wonderful and useful. One day a wealthy client came to him with a roll of the finest cloth. "Make me a suit from this marvelous material, my good tailor", he said,"and I will pay you well!". The tailor sat up all night and he cut and he sewed and he snipped and he stitched. And in the morning he had made the suit. Oh! and what a marvelous suit it was! He took it to his client, who was very pleased with the suit. When the tailor returned to his workshop, he looked at the material that was left and thought to himself,"Hmmmm...yeeeees! I believe that there is just enough material to make something else!" Soooo.....he sat up all night and he cut and he sewed and he snipped and he stitched. And in the morning he had made a very fashionable top coat for himself. He put it on and thought that he looked quite distinguished. He loved that coat soooo much that he wore it and he wore it and he wore it until one day he noticed that it was all worn out! And he was just about to throw it away, when he thought to himself, "Hmmmm....yeees! I believe that there is just enough material to make something else!" Soooo....he sat up all night and he cut and he sewed and he snipped and he stitched. And in the morning he had made a very stylish jacket. He put on his new jacket and he thought that he liked this jacket just as much as his top coat. And so, he wore it and he wore it and he wore it until it was all worn out! And he was just about to throw it away, when he thought to himself, "Hmmmm....yeees! I believe that there is just enough material to make something else!" Soooo.....he sat up all night and he cut and he sewed and he snipped and he stitched. And in the morning he had made a very smart looking waistcoat. He put it on and thought to himself that he quite liked it more than his jacket! And he wore it and he wore it and he wore it until it was all worn out!

And he was just about to throw it away, when he thought to himself, "Hmmmm....yeees! I believe that there is just enough material to make something else!" Sooooo....he sat up all night and he cut and he sewed and he snipped and he stitched. And in the morning he had made a very snappy cap. He put it on and he thought to himself that a hat was just what he needed. And so, he wore it and he wore it and he wore it until it was all worn out! And he was just about to throw it away, when he thought to himself, "Hmmmm....yeees! I believe that there is just enough material to make something else!" Soooo....he sat up all night and he cut and he sewed and he snipped and he stitched. And in the morning he had made a very fancy tie. He put it on and thought to himself "A man can never have too many ties." And he wore it and he wore it and he wore it until it was all worn out! And he was just about to throw it away, when he thought to himself, "Hmmmm....yeees! I believe that there is just enough material to make something else!" Sooooo...he sat up all night and he cut and he sewed and he snipped and he stitched. And in the morning he had made a very special button. He sewed it to his favorite shirt thinking that a button is always handy to have. And he wore it and he wore it and he wore it until it was all worn out! And he was just about to throw it away, when he thought to himself, "Hmmmm....yeees! I believe that there is just enough material to make something else!" And what do you think that "something else" was??? That's right! There was enough material to make a story! And he told the story to me and I've just told it to you! And now "you" can tell the story to someone else!

Story about Being Independent Self-Reliant Once a Tamil writer Lena Thamizhvanan went to London. He was sitting in a park. He watched a kid riding a bicycle. Due to some problem in bicycle he went straight to ditch nearby and got scratches and bleeding over his body. The bicycle was also in bad shape after accident. Writer went to help and asked him to give his hand. This kid replied "I can help myself". He (was so self reliant that he) didn't want others to show mercy on him. He took the broken cycle in his hand and went back to his home. If this guy can do, YOU can also get up from your problems, depression, negative thoughts etc without any help from outside. Swami Vivekananda quotes on "Help Yourself" [When a disciple pleaded helplessness, Swamiji thundered:] What nonsense are you talking? Within you lies indomitable power. Only thinking, "I am nothing, I am nothing,' you have become powerless. You do not deserve to live if you cannot help yourselves. It is diabolism to say, "I am so miserable." Every man has his own burden to bear. If you are miserable, try to conquer it, try to be happy. Therefore, stand up, be bold, be strong. Take the whole responsibility on your own shoulders, and know that you are the creator of your own destiny. All the strength and succour you want is within yourselves. It is a tremendous error to feel helpless. Do not seek help from anyone. We are our own help. If we cannot help ourselves, there is none to help us... this is the last and greatest lesson, and oh, what a time it takes to learn it!... Just think of that huge mass of misery, and all caused by this false idea of going to seek for help! There is no help for man. None ever was, none is, and none will be... But you are spirit. Pull yourself out of difficulties by yourself! Save yourself by yourself! There is none to help you - never was. To think that there is, is sweet delusion. It comes to no good. You may pray to everyone that was ever born, but who will come to help you?... Help thyself out by thyself. None else can help thee, friend... Get hold of the Self, then. Stand up. Don't be afraid. In the midst of all miseries and all weakness, let the Self come out, faint and imperceptible though it be at first.
