Three years full time diploma in engineering in the discipline of Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics from Govt. recognized institute. Matriculation with ITI (Electrical) from Govt. recognized institute with cable jointing license from State Licensing Board for cables upto 33 KV or equivalent and with minimum 1 year experience. Pay and grade:


The selected candidates for the post at Sl.1 i.e. Operator-cum-Technician Boiler Operationshallbe appointed in S-3 grade with an initial pay of Rs.9160 /- in the scale of pay of Rs.9160/- -3%-13150/-. Other statutory benefits &allowances are admissible as applicable to regular employees of the Company.The pay scale is under revision. The selected candidates for the post at Sl.2 & Sl.3 i.e. Operator-cum-Technician(Trainee) & Attendant-cumTechnician (Trainee) Cable Jointing, shallwork as Trainees to acquire various skills, for a minimum period of two years which can be extended by another two years as per requirement. On successful completion of training, the selected candidates shall be regularized in the grades and scale of pay as mentioned below: Post Operator-cum-Technician (Trainee) Attendant-cum-Technician (Trainee) Cable Jointing * The pay scale is under revision. In addition to Basic Pay, the above post(s) carry benefits such as CPF, Gratuity, Industrial DA, Conveyance allowance, free medical facility, Leave Travel Concession/Leave Travel Assistance etc. as admissible and as per rules of the company. Reservation:
Reservation will be provided as per the Presidential Directives for the reserved category of candidates. In case of PWD candidates, the posts are reserved for Orthopaedically Handicapped (One Leg affected, One Arm affected) with minimum 40% disability. Reservation for PWDs& Ex Servicemen will be on horizontal basis.

Eligibility Criteria:
Age Maximum age as on 01.03.2012:- Sl.1 - 30 years; Sl.2 & 3 28 years. However, relaxation in upper age limit will be provided as follows: Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC (for non-creamy layer) candidates with respect to post reserved for them. Upper age limit is relaxable by 10 years for PWD candidates. Cumulative age relaxation is applicable for those PWDcandidates who belong to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) category. Age relaxation for ex-serviceman(ESM) as per Govt. Directives. Physical For all posts : Standard a) Minimum Height -155 cm. (for males) and 143 cm. (for females) b) Minimum Weight- 45 Kg.(for males) and 35 Kg. (for females) c) Minimum Chest- 75 cm& 79 cm on expansion (for males) and 70 cm & 73 cm on expansion (for females) d) Distant Vision- 6/9both eyes with or without glasses. e) Near Vision- J1 or N6both eyes. Power of glass should not exceed +2.50 D. f) Colourvision should be normal. g) Binocular vision Essential Operated and corrected squint will be acceptable. h) Hearing Normal (Relaxable up to 30 dB in speech frequency) Selection Eligible candidates are required to appear for an objective type written test followed by Interview. Procedure After the written test, category wise merit lists of successful candidates(arranged in descending order of marks) will be drawn up. Candidates will be called for interview on the basis of their position in the merit list for written test in the ratio of 1:4. The final category wise merit list of candidates successful after interview (arranged in descending order of marks) will be made on the basis of the aggregate marks obtained by the candidates (written test marks plus interview marks). The candidates from the final category wise merit list will be sent for medical examinationas per nos. of vacant position for that category and those found fit will be issued offer of appointment.

a) Application must be accompanied by the prescribed application fee and processing fee through challan. b) State bank of India (SBI) has been authorized to collect the application/ processing fee in a specially opened Power Jyoti Current A/c No. 32336462661 at SBI, Durgapur Main Branch (Branch Code-0074), Durgapur, in favour ofSTEEL AUTHORITY OF INDIA-DSP. c) Candidate may also note that a certain amount will be paid by him/her as Bank Charges to the collection branch of SBI in addition to the applicable application/ processing fee. d) The SBI branches will accept fee from 11-06-2012to11-07-2012 during working hours.

e) Fee shall not be collected by any other mode. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any
circumstances.

Location of written test centre: Kolkata GENERAL CONDITIONS:


1. Posting will only be in Durgapur Steel Plant in Durgapur, West Bengal. 2. The date, time and place of the selection process will be intimated to the eligible candidatesin due course through e-mail/ SMS/ uploading on SAIL website. 3. No travelling expenses would be payable to candidates called for Written Test& Medical examination.Travelling nd expenses to the extent of 2 class sleeper rail fare for the shortest route will be reimbursed only for SC/ST/PWD candidates, on production of proof of journey performed to the candidates appearing for interview. 4. Candidates presently employed in Govt./Semi-Govt./PSU shall have to produce No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer at the time of interview. In case, the candidates fails to produce the certificate his candidature will not be considered. 5. Candidatesadvised by the local employment exchange will also have to apply on line in the prescribed application format along with the requisite fees as indicated in this advertisement, failing which they will not be considered for selection process.

6. Candidates applying for more than one post should register separately with separate application/ processing fees. 7. Shortlisted candidates belonging to SC/ST category called for interview will be required to produce Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe Certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the prescribed format as available on companys website www.sail.co.in.All certificates should be either in Hindi or English only. 8. Shortlisted candidates belonging to OBC category called for interview will be required to produce Other Backward Class Certificate issued in the current financial year by the Competent Authority and self declaration in the prescribed format as available on companys website www.sail.co.in. The OBC candidates who belong to CREAMY LAYER are not entitled for OBC concession and such candidates have to indicate their category as General.All certificates should be either in Hindi or English only. 9. For claiming the benefits admissible to PWDs under the Act, shortlisted candidates called for interview will be required to produce Disability Certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the format as available on companys website www.sail.co.in.They have to satisfy the relaxed Physical Standard required for the post.All certificates should be either in Hindi or English only. 10. Candidature of a candidate is liable to be rejected at any stage of therecruitment process or after recruitment or joining, if any informationprovided by the candidate is found to be false or is not found inconformity with eligibility criteria mentioned in the advertisement. 11. SAIL/DSP reserves the right to reject any application or cancel the candidature or the whole process of test/interview, without assigning any reason thereof and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained in this connection. 12. Bringing influence at any stage of the selection process will disqualify the candidature. 13. In case, large nos. of applicationis received, short listing will be done. Mere fulfilling of the eligibility criteria will not entitle the applicant to be considered for the selection process. 14. Candidates must ensure that they possess the required Physical Standard.Candidates should be free from organic disease of any sort and should not be subject to vertigo or disease of heart, lung or kidney. Appointment of candidates (short listed after interview) will be subject to their passing the companys medical examination as per standard laid down under SAILs Medical & Health Policy. 15. The Management reserves the right to fill or not to fill all or any of the above positions without assigning any reason whatsoever, in which case SAIL/DSP is not liable to compensate the applicant for the consequential damages. 16. Candidates are advised to keep themselves updated of the changes if any. 17. Candidates have to submit copy of Registration Slip and SAIL-DSPs copy ofchallan at the time of the written test. HOW TO APPLY:
1. Eligible and interested candidates would be required to apply online only through SAILs website www.sail.co.in at the link Careers with SAIL. No other mode of application shall be accepted. 2. Before registering the application on the website, candidates should ensure the following: a) Have a valid e-mail ID and Mobile No., which should remain valid for at least two years. b) Have latest passport size colour photograph as well as photograph of own signature in digital format (.jpg or .jpeg file only, each less than 500 kb size) for uploading with the application.Same photograph should be affixed for the entire selection process whenever required. 3. Category (General/SC/ST/OBC Non Creamy layer/PWD/ESM) once submitted in the application cannot be changed and no benefit of other category will be subsequently admissible. 4. Download bank challan from the website after filling in the required details. 5. After applying online, candidate is required to download the system generated Registration Slip with unique registration number and other essential details and retain a copy of the same. 6. Candidate must write his/her name as it appears in the educational certificate of Matriculation or equivalent examination. In case of change of name at a later stage necessary documentary proof to be submitted at the time of interview. 7. Candidates are not required to send any document for appearing in the written test. However, candidates shortlisted for interview would be required to furnish documents regarding proof of date of birth, qualification, caste category, PWD/ESM status etc. at the time of interview as per intimation given to the shortlisted candidates.

8. While filling online application, candidates must carefully follow all the steps. Incomplete application/ application without fee/ application not fulfilling any eligibility criteria will be rejected summarily. No communication will be entertained from the applicants in this regard. 9. Fill-in all the information as required in application form. Click Preview Application. Check all the information you filled, if you find any issues, you can edit. If you dont, click submit. Click on Print Challan and take printout of Bank Challan. Approach a branch of SBI for depositing the fee for proper crediting of amount in the allocated account. On receipt of the amount, the concerned branch of SBI will issue a Journal Number and Branch Code of the Bank. Come back to SAIL Website, www.sail.co.in, click Careers with SAIL and click on log in available on the right side of the page with heading Registered Applicant. Enter e-mail ID and password which you have used for the filling up of application form. Click on Payment details. Enter all the details (viz. Journal Number and Branch Code of the banketc.) and click Submit. Take printout of Registration Slip. Registered candidates will go to log in by entering e-mail ID and password, they can download their e-admit card (during dates to be communicated later through e-mail).

SAIL/DSP will not be responsible for any loss of e-mail/ SMS sent, due to invalid or wrong e-mail ID/ Mobile Number provided by the candidate or for delay / non-receipt of information if a candidates fails to access his/her e-mail/ Mobile in time.
