Do not equip this device under strong magnetic field, strong electric field (e.g. close to a cellular
phone), nor close to a heat source. Operation temperature range from 0 to 45.
Caution: Avoid strong magnetic and electric field

Do not expose the device to high temperature, high humidity and excess dust environment. Do
not expose the device to the volatile substance, such as gas, thinner, insecticide. Keep out of
reach of water drop, liquid and moisture. Operating relative humidity 10% to 85%
non-condensed. Clean the exterior surface with a soft, dry cloth only.

1. Introduction
PBI-4000M-UV(PAL B/G) is professional adjacent agile modulator, which typical spurious
rejection could reach 60dB. PBI-4000M-UV is applicable for CATV network where analog TV
signals frequency ranges from 47 to 862 MHz. With the built-in micro-processor,
PBI-4000M-UV is able to restore 106 preset channels and output frequency could be
configured by users easily via front panel.

4. Operation and Maintenance

4.1 Safety and Warnings
For the users safety, before operating this device, please make sure the following items are
well arranged and followed:
a. Do not open the chassis of this device under any condition;
b. Do not remove the ground pin of the power cord, and ensure it is connected properly;
c. Do not clean the surface nor internal component of the device with any alcohol, thinner,
soap nor washing solvent. Only dry, soft cloth or tissue is recommended;
d. Do not use this device at high temperature (>45) environment;
e. Keep away from ash, dust, humidity, moisture or liquid drop;
f. Both this device and the CATV system should be well grounded;
g. Please turn off this device before connecting to other Audio, Video and RF output
devices;
h. Please check all the RF output levels of all device before connecting to the CATV system.
Do not connect any device with too high RF output level accompanied with 4000M-UV.
This could help to avoid the interference generated from non-linear distortion (the default
setting of RF output

is 115 dBV);

i. Please disconnect the power cord from the AC power if the device will not be in used for
a long period, for example 2 weeks;
j. Please keep 5 seconds for internal discharge before turning on the device every time;
k. When any problem occurs, please follow the steps below:
check if the AC power is properly provided;
check if the Grounding Terminal of the AC power cord is well connected;
check if the Audio, Video and RF cables are well connected;
check if all the settings of Audio, Video modulation depth, RF output level and RF
frequency are within their proper values;
If the problem still presents, please contact the supplier or technical agent.

4.2 Mounting and Connection

z

If the device is mounted into a rack, make sure there is at least 1U (or 45mm) from each
other devices for air ventilation.

Before connect the video, audio and RF cables, make sure the device is powered off, and
the power level of audio video input must be in valid range.

Connect 4000M-UVs IF I/O to other device with the accessorial 75 RF cable. If the
external IF device is used, make sure its output IF level is 95dBV.

If the 4000M-UVs IF Output is connected to the other device, make sure the output level is
properly tuned.

4000M-UV provides monitor port which allow users to mornitor the status of the device.
The accessorial F type 75 load termination must be fitted onto the monitor port if it is not
under used.

Connect the power cord the power supply.

4.3 Installation

Power on the 4000M-UV after all cables are properly connected.

Press the button

to change the output channel. The extra channels will be

indicated with a dot . between the two digits. Refer to the appendix for channel
arrangement of the PAL B/G system.

You can also set the output frequency to any other one between 47~862MHz. Press
TUNEto activate the manual configuration, the
panel, press

will be displayed on the front

to set the output frequency with a step of 0.5MHz, press TUNE

again to confirm the setting. The LED display will stay the original value, but the real output
frequency has been tuned to the users setting and be restored automatically by the device.
Press RESET to clear the manual frequency tuning setting.
