Lost Love His eyes are quickened so with grief, He can watch a grass or leaf Every instant grow; he can Clearly through a flint wall see, Or watch the startled spirit flee From the throat of a dead man. Across two counties he can hear And catch your words before you speak. The woodlouse or the maggot's weak Clamour rings in his sad ear, And noise so slight it would surpass Credence--drinking sound of grass, Worm talk, clashing jaws of moth Chumbling holes in cloth; The groan of ants who undertake Gigantic loads for honour's sake (Their sinews creak, their breath comes thin); Whir of spiders when they spin, And minute whispering, mumbling, sighs Of idle grubs and flies. This man is quickened so with grief, He wanders god-like or like thief Inside and out, below, above, Without relief seeking lost love.

THE TONE and the SOUND The tone of the voice is enlightening that the author is trying to tell the reader to listen to the voice inside them. Its like the experience, old soul is talking to the inexperience kid, the readers, that there is a voice inside of you that whispers all day long, and you should just listen to the voice that speaks inside. With the voice easily to listen to, we dont have fight back but accept his words, like the time we listen to our parents when we making mistakes, or teacher when we try to daydream in class. This voice is like song to heart, go with the flow. Its fluent is naturally, the words are all common words and easily to understand with the purpose of touching readers hear. IMAGERY(1) "No teacher, preacher, parent, friend, or wise man can decide" By listing those words, the author is creating an image of who we often look to when we prefer to trust their intelligence rather than our own. When believing a friend, teacher, or preachers words we feel a sense of comfort and contentment than to rely on our own selves. But actually our own are more important. One day they all will leave and we have nothing to rely on except ourselves. If we dont trust ourselves now, its really hard to build it later IMAGERY (2) Metaphor: The voice in which Shel Silvertein is talking about is not a real object that is inside of our heads. They are something that we have after facing struggles, our experience from struggles. It is a figure of speech that is meant to relate to our confidence and self-certainty as well as the way how we should we make our life decision.

DECIPHER THE THEME (1) These voices that appear in our minds are superior than any voice that belongs to physical objects but our mentalities. We need to trust the small voices who are trying to guide, teach us and be confident in the decisions that we make by listening to them. Those voices are our own identity, which are formed by our struggles and mistakes. If we choose to disregard them, then we become powerless to our own instincts and we never learn from our past. DECIPHER THE THEME (2) When the author says " feel that this is right for me, I know that this is wrong" The author is repeating the kinds of things we hear inside our heads to which we choose to listen to. This kind of communication speaks to the reader because it is something that many people can relate to when making decisions and forming our own judgments.
