THE MAN WHO ACTUALLY INVENTED THE RADIO A few months back, I was watching a movie, 'the bucket

list' (Nice movie. You should watch it). In that movie, a scene comes, where an young boy asks his old friend a question, 'who invented the radio' ? Old man thinks real hard and asks the boy, 'do you want to know the person who they think invented the radio or the man who actually invented it'. The conversation goes on and old man says that Nikola Tesla is the one who actually invented the radio. The moment I heard the name, a black and white photo of a guy in my 12th class physics textbook popped up in my mind. I also remembered that he did something on alternating current and one my lecturers saying that he's one of the greatest scientists. Out of curiosity, I started digging about him on Google and I didn't know that I was about to get my mind blown away. I mean, Tesla was the pioneer of wireless transmission of energy, induction motors, remote controlled devices, cryogenic engineering, hydro-electricity, robotics, laser technology, wireless communication, RADAR technology and the list goes on. There are some 700 patents ( I'm serious!!!!!!! ) in his name all around the world and you have to believe me if I say that there's a separate Wikipedia page for his 'list of patents'. He spoke 8 languages. He had eidetic memory ( If u watch 'the big bang theory', you'll be knowing what it is. If not, it is something we can call photographic memory ) and he was unmarried whole of his life. This guy was mysterious. As I went on reading about him , a line from 'Delhi belly' song was passing through my mind... 'dekha toh kathora, jhaanka toh kua'.... As much as I looked into, more and things were coming out. He was so awesome. He had determined the earth's resonant frequency and had caused a minor earthquake somewhere around New York city with his experiments. He reportedly wanted to build an energy system that used earth as a conductor. If it was successful, anyone could've had electricity by simply sticking an iron rod into the ground. I don't know what would've been the consequences if anyone peed on the ground :P ( I guess India would've been a lot more hygienic ). You'll be awestruck when you'll read the next line , hold your breath ,Nikola Tesla also created a 130 foot long bolt of lightning from one of his coils , a feat which to this day remains the world record for man-made lightning. That's what would de definition of 'damn cool'. Nikola Tesla was a metaphysical genius. People recognise some things too late. Year 2006 was announced as a "Nikola Tesla year" by UNESCO. I always believe that he didn't get the recognition like Einstein , Faraday, Marconi ( who actually claimed that he invented radio and also won a Nobel for that) , or may be like his arch-rival Thomas Alva Edison. And yeah, it's thanks to Tesla, not Edison, that we have electricity coming out of plugs every day. Keeping the controversies apart, Tesla was like the Tony Stark ( Who's Tony Stark?? come on, who hasn't watched IRON-MAN ). Having the brains and the vision for the better humanity. I'm poor at writing articles and all. I don't know how to start and how to end all these things. So, I guess, that's it. And yeah, Google and Wikipedia will be always there for u. It wouldn't take that long to know about the man who's behind the thing which keeps your PC running. ;)
