13 Installing Cascaded RET Antenna

Prerequisite Context

Installing Cascaded RET Antenna

The AISG port on the SBT is connected to the RCU through an AISG control cable.

The antenna and ALDs such as the SBT and RCU are installed. For the detailed installation method, refer to 15 Installing RET Antenna Line Devices.

When antennas of several sectors are installed on the same pole or tower and the distance between neighboring antennas is short, cascaded RCUs can be adopted.

Procedure
Step 1 Installing the AISG control cable between the SBT and the RCU The length of the AISG control cable depends on the site condition. 1. 2. Link the standard AISG male connector of the AISG control cable to the standard AISG female connector of the SBT. Link the standard AISG female connector of the AISG control cable to the 8-pin male connector of the RCU.

Step 2 Installing the AISG control cable between cascaded RCUs The length of the AISG control cable depends on the site condition. 1. 2. Link the standard AISG male connector of the AISG control cable to the standard AISG female connector of the RCU. Link the standard AISG female connector of the AISG control cable to the 8-pin male connector of the RCU. Figure 13-1 shows the installation of the cascaded RET antenna.

Step 3 Information related to the cascaded RET antenna such as the number of the RCU, site, and sector should be recorded in the table right after each antenna is installed. The RCU number can be obtained from the label attached to the RCU, as shown in Figure 13-2.

Figure 13-2 RCU Number

The table below shows the table for recording the previously mentioned information. SN 1 2 RCU Number CS61754920 5A052300413 Site Number Sector Number S1 S2

NOTE

The site number is customized according to user requirement.

NOTE

When cascaded RCUs are adopted, communication between the RCUs and the NodeB is through only one link. Physical position of each RCU cannot be viewed from the NodeB perspective. Mapping between the sectors and SNs of the scanned RCUs (the only identity of the RCU) cannot be obtained. As a result, the antenna tilt cannot be correspondingly modified. Therefore, information related to each antenna such as the number of the RCU, site, and sector should be recorded during installation. The operator can query the RCU number of each site and sector according to the table. In case that the scanning does not cover all the RCUs, you can also enter the RCU number according to the table to scan the corresponding RCU for operation. The table should be properly kept for commissioning the cascaded antennas in later phase. Previously mentioned information should be recorded in detail in the table. ----End
