TROUBLE SHOOTING
The OKI Exchange is connected to Peripherals and Maintenance Administration Consoles. During day to day working the equipments attached to the Exchange may get faulty. In order to identify and isolate the fault some of the tips have been provided below. 1) SYSTEM POWER PROBLEMS: Since Power Supply is an essential part for the smooth functioning of the Exchange, utmost care should be taken in power supply arrangements. However sometimes the System experiences power supplies problems. There are other areas where the power supply problems are encountered. In such cases a systematic check has to be made accordingly. The following checks must be made for any power supply problem in the system. a) Check for the input voltage -48 V. b) Cheek for the LED on the MISCA card for individual SMPs. c) If any 1ED for a particular SMP doesnt go off in the MISCA, check for the POWER ON LED on the SMPs. d) Cheek for the output voltage. If input to the power supply is -48V and output is not there, replace that particular SMP. e) Before replacing a new SNIP check that there is no shorting between the particular voltage (5,Vo, 5 Vc, +12 V, -12 V) and E on the-CME motherboard. f) If the LTE alarm is on the MISCA, check that all power cards are ON condition and replace if any one DOWN. g) 2) If all the power cards are OK, check for the looping cables (from MISCA to power cards and back to MISCA). BOOTING PROBLEM:

The OKI Exchange is booted by three methods. They are Floppy Disk Drive (FDD), Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and Emergency Initial Program Load (IPL). Any booting problem faced by the system can be checked depending on the method of booting adopted. a) If booting is done through FDD then check as under in case of any failures: i) Check on MICSA that switch setting is FDD based. ii) Cheek that 12V/8.3A-power supply is OK and FDD cable is properly connected. iii) Replace IOC2 card if required. iv) If FDD is not getting on, cheek the FDD power cable whether 5V & 12V are coming. b) If booting is done through HDD then proceed to cheek as under in case of any failures: i) Check for DKCO, SLBO, and IOC2 cards. ii) Check that 12V and 5V are coming properly in the HDD power cable. iii) In case of problem in cross booting suspected card is DKCO of active side. iv) Check that CND 11 and CND 22 cables to the DKO card are firmly connected.

C) If the booting problem arises due to failure of both the Hard dish then Emergency IPL is used. In this case the system booted through FDD. If in this case there is any problem the following cheeks should be carried out: i) Check that setting on MISCA. is Emergency ML type. ii) For floppy drive based problem cheek that 12V 1/ 8.3A power supplies is OK. iii) Check that FDD cable is OK and properly connected. iv) Replace IOC2 card if required. v) If FDD is not getting on check the FDD power cable whether 5V and 12V are coming or not. 3) MAC PROBLEM:

The OKI exchange is maintained through MAC console. The software changes in the system are carried out through MAC console. The console consists of a PC, a Monitor and a Key board. The MAC is connected to the system through DTCO card. This card has three ports, i.e., Port 0, Port 1, Port 2. The lowest port is connected to the FDD. The ports 0, 1, 2 use 16 core flat cable. The port connected to the FDD uses 34-core flat cable. In case of any problem in this aspect the following checks have to be made i) Cheek for the connecting cable between DTCO between DTCO card and the PC. ii) Check the output of 12V / 8.3A and 12V / 2.5A. iii) Cheek the port IC's on the DTCO / 10C2 card. iv) If, only IC's of port 0 are damaged use port 1 for MAC with the help of call mode cable. PROBLEMS IN PERIPHERALS: The OKI exchange is used to connect different peripheral equipment like Attendant Console, Modem Trunk, Tie Line and Call billing equipment. The ATT may have the following problems: i) ii) iii) iv) v) vi) One way / Both way speech problem. Continuous buzzer may be coming. No time display on the ATT. Key board not working. COA is not landing on the ATT. Noise in the speech path.

The Modem Trunk may have the following problems: i) ii) iii) iv) v) No incoming calls on the DATA terminal. Modem not talking commands from PC. Modem Trunk not getting seized. Carrier signal is not detected by the Modem. Transfer of data not taking place.

The problems in the billing equipment may be due to:

i) ii) iii) iv) v) vi)

Charging will not commence till DTY command is given. Verify the commands CDD, CHG, CMD,,CRT, LC13, SCT & SNR in Sequence for call billing and CDD, CHG, CMD, CRT, DTS, SCT, SNR, PEP, PLT, LP1) & DDA commands in sequence. For call billing problem take out the dump with MDD command. If this is OK then run call billing software. In case of Tie Line billing cheek PCP and PLT commands. Verify if charged route no is same as mentioned in the NP1) command.

The DATA COM equipment like MKT may have the following problems: i) ii) Iii) iv) v) No power in the MKT / DATA equipment. Voice / DATA key is operated in the MKT / DATA equipment. DTI / DTTA not working for the local and remote loop test. Junk Data is received. No call termination.

METHOD OF TAKING BACK UP IN A FLOPPY The following procedure must be adopted for taking backup. i) ii) iii) iv) v) Give SON command and feed PASSWORD. Make FDD out of service giving the command OUS: Uij', FDDO. Give command VOL: 1,0,Uij, DKU0,Uij, FDD0. Give Copy command as CPY:Uij,DKU0,Uij,FDD0. Repeat step 4 after inserting new floppy in FDD0.

Note: Number of floppies required for taking backup. A) NE 1100 B) NE 1200 Q NE 1300 2 floppies. One unit, Two units, 2 units, 3 units, 4 units, 5 units, 6 units, 7 units, 2 floppies. 4 floppies. 4 floppies. 6 floppies. 8 floppies. 10 floppies. 12 floppies. 14 floppies.

During the execution of CPY command the Floppy drive will have RED LED. After the execution of the command the RED LED extinguishes.
