Babies KNOW to shut their ears when they do not want to hear something. Babies shut their eyes when they dont want to see something. It is natural. Adults on the other hand, learned that it is improper to do that, so they would continue utilizing the same gestures but in a more hidden way by slightly scratching their ears or eyes. Certain gestures come from ancient times, such as greeting with as open hand. Back in a day, it used to mean, I have no weapon. In another example, a woman would naturally protect her lower body while carrying a book, a man on the other hand would typically carry a book on a side. Woman would intuitively protect her baby or key organs, while a man would display his chest and show that he is not afraid. Facts about Body Language 90% of communication between individuals occurs via body language Body Language is a universal language across cultures and countries Learning Body Language can significantly improve social and work experiences, while ignoring it could be damaging Is both instinctive and social Existed as long as human civilization existed Relatively new field of studies Some of the most recognizable gestures: Male carrying a book

Handshakes are import part of modern life. In todays business world, handshakes are being widely used to greet, say goodbye and at the end of signing contract or reaching milestone. There are 3 common types of handshakes: Aggressive Neutral

Friends having informal handshake Chapter 3 Detecting Positive Gestures Positive gestures tend to show positive attitude and openness. When you see someone with a positive gesture, you can tell that they like you or interested in hiring you/working with you. One of your goals should be an attempt to keep positive gestures of your listeners and that could often be achieved by displaying your own positive gestures. Remember, people are reacting to your gestures. These types of gestures should be used by you during job interview or presentation to make a good impression. Allow me to be perfectly honest with you

See? I told you this would work Attentive gestures:

Chapter 5 Lie and Deception Lies are easily detected via body language. There are always gestures that you can pick up to detect lies pictures 1 and 2 are great examples of those. Touching nose in example 1, historically means detecting a bad smell, in todays world simply put a lie. This gesture actually works both ways, if you are lying or even thinking about lying, your body would naturally display via touching nose. In example 2, a person is scratching back of her neck or removing sweat. Do not confuse this gesture with adjusting hair(attraction gesture) as some ladies tend to use a combination of hair adjusting(attraction) and scratching the back of their neck(lie). Lies: Touching nose if lying or feeling a lie

Touching back of the neck when not telling the truth

Chapter 6: Attraction Gestures Attracting a male or female could be conducted via a proper application of gestures. We recommend that you that first begin observing gestures of others. The next step would be to approach a person who displaying open or interested gestures towards you. As the next step, use your gestures to create positive impression and display interest (refer back to previous chapters). Attracted:

Interested Aggressive sexual intensions

How to attract an opposite sex person(sexually) or a same sex person(as a friend): 1. Approach the person of your interest (no matter if you know them or not) 2. Stand 3-5 feet away 3. Begin conversation we will leave subject up to you 4. Position your body at a 45 degree angle, occasionally turning to 90 degree angle 5. After 10-15 minutes ask for a phone number or a meeting This will create an illusion of semi interest and make a person try to prove that they are worthy of your attention. Chapter 7: Job Interview or Review On a job interview or another important appointment, there are several things that you should know what to do and what not to do. What to do: display open, attentive, interested gestures What not to do: bored, negative, aggressive Showing aggressive gestures will not show that you are aggressive after the job, it would rather show that you are an aggressive, potentially nor a solid team player type character. Equally avoid showing that you are tired or frustrated with something (even if you are). Typical interview situations:
Open

Chapter 9: Manipulating Gestures This chapter could be either a complete waste of your time a life changing experience. This will also depend on a fundamental question do you believe that body language truly works? If you are a skeptic, you can just skip over this chapter. If you understand, the power of body language, keep reading. This one is for you. As you know, gestures reflect thoughts. Putting a person is a certain body language position will influence the way they look at you, the way they think Have you noticed how people change their gestures as somebody who they dislike gets close to them? Or have you seen how open and friend the same crowd could become Certain individuals are extremely good at body language naturally. Many guys are famous for their popularity among women. When you ask them why they are so interested, often they wouldnt be able to say anything other than he is a nice guy. The answer is often simple those men are natural body language gurus. The key is to establishing comfort zones of people you are dealing with. Once you know where they are comfortable, you can make them change their body language by either entering or leaving their comfort zones this will either make them more interested in you or the other way around depending on your goals. Another concept that you will need to learn and skill to develop is to be able to notice which way are the people directing their attraction or attention and place yourself right on a path of their attraction or point of interest. To practice: review attraction and interest gestures and when observe such, approach a person. This will put you in favorable position with those people. Chapter 10: Learning and Improving The best way to learn body language is to observe your own body language. Although, gestures are very similar across different countries, they can certainly be unique depending on a person. Every person grows up and socially develops in very unique environment, interacting with various people of all sorts of backgrounds small towns, huge cities, cultures, climate, etc. All of the listed factors will contribute to your unique set of gestures. The first important step in learning body language is to learn your own gestures and understand what it means. Next time you scratch your nose or make a certain unprovoked move notice what came through your mind at that moment! As you learn your own gestures, you wouldnt be able to help it to notice gestures of others around you. Observe, learn from others. If you have young children they could be a great learning source of gestures. Children are like open books and without any words you can see what they are thinking or what they want if

you pay attention to their gestures Chapter 11: Preparation for Advanced Body Language Certification When preparing for certification in body language, use the following guidelines: get enough sleep give yourself a reasonable amount of hours for sleep budget your time realistically; allocate the study time into several manageable study sessions; divide the course material into small segments and assign them to the study sessions; set clear and specific goals for the study sessions; prioritize to ensure that material weighted more heavily in the exam gets sufficient study time; take into account your familiarity with the material and the difficulty level; don't make the study sessions too long; study sessions should have enough variety in terms of topics and activities to prevent boredom and loss of effectiveness; avoid cramming before the exam; and don't forget to include regular breaks finally, dont over study after all body language is very logical and even the hardest questions could be figured out.
