Book report The curious incident of the dog in the night-time by Mark Haddon Published by Vintage 2004 Christopher

Boone is a 15 year old boy who lives alone with his father and his rat Toby. His mother died two years earlier by a heart attack. He is an autistic boy who is a genius when it comes to solving math problems or knowing the answer to a science question. He hit people that touch him and goes to ground roaming when his senses become overloaded. One night Christopher goes for a walk outside and he discovers that Mrs. Shears dog Mr. Wellington is dead. He has a garden fork true his stomach and Christopher lays down beside him to see if he is alive. Mrs. Shears catches him lying there and calls the police. The police and Mrs. Shears both think that he is the murderer. His father comes to the police station and picks him up. But he makes Christopher promise that he wont stick his nose in other peoples business. But Christopher decides that he wants to find out who the murder is, just like in the Sherlock Holmes books, which are his favorite books. He has to write a book at school and decides to write a mystery/crime novel about who killed Mr. Wellington. The book takes place in Swindon, the place Christopher and his father lives. Main characters: Christopher Boone is the author of the story and the main person. Its a crime novel where he decides to find out who killed the dog Mr. Wellington. He has a different perspective and opinion on things than most 15 year olds and doesnt understand the outside world. He goes to a special school, has no really friends and has a strict life with a timetable. Ed Boone is Christopher father and a boiler engineer who runs a heating maintenance. Judy Boone is his mother who. Mrs. Shear and Mrs. Alexander are Christophers neighbors which live across the street. Mr. Shear is Mrs. Shears divorced husband who lives with.

The theme of the book is stability and searching. Christopher has an organized life and needs stability to survive. He needs to have everything in order to have a safe and happy life. The main plot in the book is about him finding out who killed Mr. Wellington and why.

The book is different from other crime novels, because you see whats happening and how things are through a 15 year old boy with aspersers. And this makes the book very exciting to read. - A very good book that should be on everybodys reading list. The ending of the book was good as well as the rest of the book, and it was an appropriate ending. The book was very good written and was easy to understand, so I would recommend it to everybody that likes to read. I can understand why the book won The Whitbread book of the year.
