COURSE DESCRIPTION AND CONTENTS

GARRET TFE 731 TURBOFAN ENGINE (CAT C)


COURSE ASSUMPTIONS
It is assumed that all students are aircraft orientated personnel qualified as an aircraft maintenance mechanic or equivalent and complies with the experience requirements as specified by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA). Students will have an understanding of general engine structures, engine fuel and control systems, engine ignition systems, engine air, engine controls, engine indicating systems and oil systems, or attended equivalent courses. The purpose of this course is to provide students (who conform to the above entry level criteria) with theoretical knowledge regarding the purpose, description and operation of the Garret TFE731 Turbofan Engine and its systems. Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to apply their prior knowledge, skills and experience, in conjunction with the information contained in this course, when performing the required maintenance and support. Additionally this course complies with SACAA requirements to enable successful students to apply for their AME rating. This course provides information regarding the purpose, description and operation of the various systems and subsystems that comprise the Garret TFE731 Turbofan Engine. It includes General/Introduction, TFE731 Engine, Engine Ignition, Lubrication System, Fuel System, Electronic Control System, Synchroniser and Performance Reserve System, Engine Indicating, and Ground/Flight Check-out. 5 Days (30 hours), including 3 hours examination There is one final examination containing approximately 100 multiple choice, objective questions. The pass mark is 75%.
