Yogavristhasana
The Yogic Chair and by Tom Gillette
This posture is just for fun. Okay, this isn't a particularly comfortable chair to sit in, but you might find it amusing. Someone might ask, "why try new postures?" The reason is because the mind and body are so deeply interrelated, whenever you bring the body into new alignments, it triggers new awarenesses in the mind. As you come to know the physical body in novel ways, a certain flexiblity of the mind arises. Yoga is far more than a strength and flexiblity program. Yoga is far more interesting than toning and stress relief, which are useful secondary byproducts. What awaits you beyond physical yoga is an experience deeper than your conversational mind. It is without language, words, or concepts. It is essential to develop continuous Non Verbal Awareness of what is arising in the moment. Most of the time, 99% of the time we are preoocupied with the day to day living, personal concerns, survival necessities,. So the mind
remains agitated caught in a group delusion. (more on this later.) By voyaging into stillness, often, repeatedly, what arises is an experience of oneself dissolving, ones individual consciousness as intimately connected to a vast, loving and unfathomable universe that is ceaselessly changing.
