1. TITANIC

News Article

Documentary

Feature Film

How should each text be read? How are they different from each other? What should you look for in each text? What should you expect from them? What questions should you ask when you read/interpret each text? Can your questions for the news article also be your questions for the feature lm? Why/Why not?

We should read these texts one with emotion and one with reason. They are different because each one focuses on a different aspect of the event. One focuses on the emotional side of how the people felt during the event and other focuses on the explanation behind the happening of this event. We should look for strong words that dene the story. We should expect them to give us vivid images of how the event happened. We should ask why did the ship break for the reasonable side and we should ask why were the couple doing that cross thing on the titanic even though the ship was sinking on the emotional side.

The point of this genre can be entertainment and to show role models to kids. We should expect ctional elements at the same time nd morals and values in these texts. Does evil ever win? Will good always prevail? Why don't we have superheroes? How do we become a superhero?

3. THE DA VINCI CODE

The Book

The Movie Adaptation

What is the common genre of these texts? How should you deal with this genre? What should you expect from these texts? What should you not expect from them? What questions should you ask when you read and interpret these texts? What questions should you not ask?

Mystery, don't take it too literally We expect that the text will still be about ction. Yes the text is true because of some facts but still we must take it as ction. Does this coincide with current events. We shouldn't ask whether or not this text is real or not.

4. RELIGIOUS ART

How should you deal with these texts? What should you expect from them? What should you not expect from them? What questions should you ask in reading these texts? What should you not ask? In light of the genre, what is the purpose of this kind of texts?

We should deal with these texts with strong emotion and conscience based thinking. We shouldn't expect to understand all the texts but try to nd the meaning behind these things. The questions I should ask is if what was stated is true in real life situations. I shouldn't ask wether or not these things have happened or not because what's important is the message not the existence of the event. The purpose of these texts is to teach values and morals that are needed in human life.
