Position: Chief Information Officer - by Richard Sanford (www.visitconsulting.

net) Chief Information Officer Mission: Provide technology vision and strategic leadership for the development and implementation of IT solutions (e.g., CRM, E-Bus, KM, and Doc Management) and strategies consistent with the business strategy Provide consistent financial management oversight in rapidly changing and intensely competitive marketplace Dramatically improve productive and responsible information flow across the organization

Responsibilities: Establish IT direction, strategy and policies with project plan and resource requirements Develop Return-On-Investment measurement tools with the support of Finance to properly evaluate various solutions and projects Demonstrate ability to conceptualize and think strategically while having a pragmatic approach to the business challenges and required solutions Ensure strong business orientation combined with strong technical background and experience Ensure IT infrastructure and architecture investments (e.g., systems and networks) are consistent with enterprise IT and business visions, solutions and strategies Identify credible new knowledge and information technological developments Endorse technology transfer and use of enabling technologies to improve communications and ease of business with all stakeholders to increase revenue and profitability Provide application-centered direction based on needs of internal and external business clients Demonstrate ability to conceptualize new projects and effectively lead the execution using industry accepted project management tools to bring project in on time and on budget Provide consistent judgement on source vs. buy decisions and recommend when both are required Establish strategic partnerships with key IT suppliers to leverage available talent Focus on internal and external clients to accelerate customer satisfaction Provide leadership on training of internal and external users of new and existing systems Ensure execution team is properly staffed and manage to achieve goals and objectives

Communications: Provide effective communications to properly lead IT team toward excellent delivery and execution Ensure cooperative communications with senior level management to ensure the IT vision and strategy are clear, concise and linked to business strategies Establish proper cultural communication expectations consistent with the business culture Communicate with consultants and experts to stay abreast of evolutionary technological advancements Provide high integrity, truthfulness and open climate for everyone to contribute to the success of the IT vision and the company Lead, follow or get out of the way :>)
