Forget the hand that feeds you, feed yourself Polar opposites are often allies. Our world would never be the same without hot and cold, ins and outs, ups and downs. It functions by opposites. Recently, I have been thinking about how the very hunger that is supposed to make a person weak, can be the same thing that helps them be alert. This all depends on the persons response to the hunger- the condition he finds himself in of course. When I observe the state of the economy and most of society as we know it, I sometimes think there has never been a better time for hunger- sometimes literally- to drive people to action. Now, I am not saying bad situations are healthy, or justifying the economic state most of the world finds itself in. The debt crisis is anything but healthy or wise. What I am saying is in the midst of hard times, pressure, periods of struggle is when we have the greatest opportunities to grow in every area of our lives. These times challenge many to re-value what is important in life like friends and family and to appreciate even the little. As well as, to develop new skills and grow their knowledge base, to meet the demands of

changing times. Others will just sit and complain, allowing the hunger to create weakness, and gradual deterioration. History repeats itself and we can see the same patterns during the Great Depression, during the 1930s. Which birthed an unprecedented amount of millionaires, while others lost everything. The difference between the two is interpretation. One may see an obstacle, while another sees an opportunity to grow. We may see the finishing work, of a fully developed plant, but easily forget that first a seed must be sown into the ground and die, before it can grow. Nobody likes to be buried in the ground, or get their hands dirty. We especially do not like the idea of death. But the truth is something must always die, or give way before anything new can occur. What do you have to let go of to overcome the challenge of hunger, lack, pressures, struggles, fears? And are you willing to step out of your comfort zone, try something new to grow? Whats worse than the temporal, dying feeling of hunger? Death. The truth is, whatever does not grow, dies. Take the signs of hunger as a message that, it is time to do something different, work it out then feed me! You may not be able to stop the hunger, but you can control what you do about it, and how you handle any situation in life. Author: Leslie Poku Marketing Consultant.
