PRACTICAL WORK AREA This is the heart of the training delivery where the learners are expected to acquire the competencies prescribed in the standard for a particular TVET qualification. Only the critical equipment are found in this area. LEARNING RESOURCE AREA This area provides the learner with the knowledge requirements in the various modules responding to the competencies. It has an array of multimedia materials. It has a computer facility that allows the learner to access additional reference materials. TRAINING RESOURCE AREA This is the area where trainer prepares, develops and produces the instructional materials. The area houses the Training Regulations and Curriculum as references in the development of instructional materials. SUPPORT AREA This area provides support to another TVET qualification which has a competency common to both qualification. Example: Prepare hot and cold meals is a competency common to Household Service Worker NC II and Commercial Cooking NC II. This workstation in Commercial Cooking supports Household Service Worker or vice versa. CONTEXTUAL LEARNING AREA

This facility ensures that the underpinning knowledge, i.e. Science, Math and English principles as applied to the technology, are provided to the learner. Located in this area are: CLM, reference materials in Math, Science and English. ASSESSMENT AREA This is the area where the Institutional and National Assessment is conducted. Located in this area are the institutional competency assessment instruments and individual records of trainees assessed. The Practical Area can also serve as the Assessment Area. QUALITY CONTROL AREA This area houses the operating manuals of various training equipment, special tools and instruments and the Competency Standard for the specific TVET qualification. Test to determine the conformance of service or product to standard is conducted in this area. DISTANCE LEARNING AREA This area answers the issue of learning accessibility and flexibility. It enables a learner to acquire the competencies thru various modes of learning regardless of time and location. COMPUTER LABORATORY AREA This area provides opportunity for the learner to acquire the appropriate IT competencies as prescribed in the CS and the CBC. The computer units are ideally in a LAN environment hooked to an internet access. Setting-Up Work Station in Practical Work Area What is a Work Station? It is a designated area in the workplace where a person or individual usually does his work which he plans to accomplish in a specific period of time. One unit or a cluster of competencies is considered as a workstation. Steps to set up the Work Stations 1. Determine the requirements /components of the work stations (refer to the Curriculum: Learning Conditions and CS: Range of Variables.) 2. Set-up all necessary requirements in place in every work station like, stationery equipment, bench works with bench vise, signs/markers, learning elements (optional), manuals (optional), safety tips and procedure according to layout. Common equipment are placed in an accessible area. 3. Display the competency requirements in every NC Level he/she is teaching. a. Workshop Area: Floor Area (capacity considering the following): Area for Equipment and Tools Area for Work benches Area for tools and Trays Area for Mock-ups Area for needed Materials Area for pep talk and assessment
