1.3

Single node and multi-node configuration

The installation of the 5530 NA is affected by the type of configuration. The types of configuration are:

single node cluster - consists of multiple nodes and it is used to increase performance Single node configuration
A single node configuration is used when you have only one node. See Procedure 2-1 for information about how to install the 5530 NA server for one node.

Cluster configuration
For a cluster configuration, the workload of the application server is divided over multiple nodes. However, the database server is installed on only one node, which is typically the first node that you install. When you install additional nodes that do not have a database, you must enter the location of the node that contains the database. Figure 1-2 shows a cluster configuration in the network.

A cluster configuration requires a shared drive for the nodes in the cluster to communicate, which requires a shared folder to be configured during the installation of the nodes. The shared folder must be mounted with the same path for each node to access the folder. You can modify the folder after the installation. You can add application servers to an operational cluster. Figure 1-3 shows a cluster configuration with application servers, a database, and shared file system.

5.1

Probable cause and repair advice message customization overview

Probable cause and repair messages, which appear on the 5530 NA GUI for line quality or equipment fault diagnoses, can be customized for the following user types:

CSR NOC service provider

The 5530 NA provides default probable cause and repair advice messages for the NOC user type. To create probable cause and repair advice messages for the CSR and service provider user types, you must modify the default NOC probable cause and repair advice messages. The probable cause and repair advice messages can be translated, as described in Procedure 6-1.

5.2

Customizing probable cause and repair advice messages

You can customize probable cause and repair advice messages.

Procedure 5-1 To modify probable cause and repair advice messages for a CSR or NOC
This procedure affects all accounts with an account profile when the View type parameter is set to CSR and NOC, and all accounts with a service provider. 1 As ni on the 5530 NA server, change to the directory that contains the language file by typing:
cd NA_Installation/server/jboss-4.0.2/server/ni/nadeploy
where NA_Installation is the 5530 NA installation directory

Create a temporary directory, by typing:

mkdir -p temp/unzipped
where temp is the name of the temporary directory

Unzip the 100-ni-default-resources.zip file in the temporary directory, by typing:

unzip -d temp/unzipped 100-ni-default-resources.zip
where temp is the name of the temporary directory

Create a directory to save the modified property files, by typing:

mkdir temp/dist
