Happy, sad, scared, angry, hot, cold, hungry, thirsty, sick, sleepy Sentence structure(s): Question - What is this? Response It is a sun/raindrop etc Question Who is this? Response It is a mother/father Question Are you sleepy/happy? Response Yes I am/ no I am not Song: Happy family Mr Sun Activities: Family photo frame - We will do the photo frame over a period of two days Games: Object toss - Select a soft object. "Is this sun?" Yes, It is." OR "No, It is a cloud". Toss the object to a student and have them use the appropriate phrase. Then they toss the objects to different students. Fast flashcard collecting - Reveal flashcards to the class one by one. The first student to say the word on the card successfully keeps the card. The student with the biggest collection when all the cards have been handed out wins.
New (letters/sounds/vocabulary)
As we have reviewed all the single sounds Sunny are now going to try and blend the first 6 letters in the Jolly phonics alphabet which are S, A, T, I, P, N. There are many three letter words with these sounds and this process is called blending. This is where you say the individual letter sounds in a word, then running them together to make a word e.g. sounding out 's-a-t' makes sat, the students know the sounds well enough to move on to the next learning curve of written English.
Writing Practice
This week well do writing practice in the students alphabet books to support their knowledge of the letters. By focusing on a letter that students find it harder to recognize it will help students become more familiar.
Sight Words
Students are currently not doing sight words.
