The (not yet named) FAADE TECTONICS CENTER at USC This is the short version. For more detail, email dnoble@usc.edu CONFERENCES AND WORKSHOPS: We conduct two FACADES conferences and two FACADES workshops each year. Some events are free and open to the public, others are members only. Now that conferences are being over-subscribed, sponsors and members will be given first access to conference seats. STUDENTS: The school re-started its doctoral program in 2008, and there are now eleven Ph.D. students examining a broad range of arenas related to the building enclosure. The doctoral program builds on the strengths of the Chase L. Leavitt Building Science Masters Degree program, which recently was named a Top-notch program by Architect Magazine. The doctoral research area examines a full range of aspects of the building envelope. We also have Masters degree students conducting building enclosure thesis and research projects. RESEARCH ARENAS: Sustainability Double-Skin Facades Architectural Acoustics Digital Media Solar Access Faade Acoustics Seismic Design Fabric Structures Digital Fabrication, CAD/CAM Performative Architecture Materials and Assemblies Lighting / Daylighting / Glare Building Information Modeling Historic Structures Technology Cable-Suspended Glass Skins Architectural Science Education Integrated Architectural Technology FACULTY: A broad and deep faculty group featuring strong academics and experienced professionals with years of experience. A core group of faculty have been together for more than 20 years, and a number of exciting new additions have been made to the tenure-track faculty. SUPPORT / SPONSORSHIP / MEMBERSHIP: There are many different kinds of opportunities to support FAADE TECTONICS, from scholarship and conference sponsorships to naming endowments. We are waiting to name the entire organization with the help of a lead endowment gift. We will be adding additional Founding sponsors through the 2012 World Conference. Act before July 2012 to be a founding supporter. We also seek publication endowments, facilities support and named faculty Chairs. Email dnoble@usc.edu to obtain a no-obligation shopping list of opportunities.
