was only with the aid of some fishernmen and their rope that Bill, Bob, and Dean were able to pull Ron in. It's a wonder they didn't succumb to exhaustion; it's also a wonder the shark didn't attack again. Due to communication and transportation difficulties, it was decided
to have the funeral immediately, and the service was held Sunday.

Dear Brethren,

We are humbled by the blessings bestowed on us every day.

We are also

challenged greatly by the tremendous number of opportunities to reach Filipinos for Christ, Christy Palabrica, member of a prominent Aparri family, comes by often to ask us questions about Christ and the church# Our students provide a neveiv ending supply of chances to witness for Him; it*s really great to see the "light come on" as it seemed to for Ricardo when we were discussing God as Creator in N.T.

Our preachers report renewed interest in the Gospel as the storms of last

Our travel plans after we reach the U. S.A. are as follows: L. A. and vicinity: April 11-16. Then, 2741 E. Aldine St., Phoenix AZ 85032 for a couple of weeks. From there we will go to 12003 Aggie Lane, Houstofi, TX 77022 for most of May.
A very dear family has bought a car for us to use while in the U. S. , and it will be available the first part of June. We are eager to visit as many churches as pos sible during the summer months while our whole family can travel together. We would like to suggest that we would be in the Ohio-Illinois-Indiana area during the month of June. From there we may need to travel west to Phoenix to complete the car trans
action, and tentatively plan to attend the North American Convention in California

in July, staying with our good friends, the Dennis McKinney family who'll soon be
returning to the Philippines to work.

If you would like to have us visit the church where your attend, please contact us at one of the listed addresses. If you write before April 4, address your letter to P.O. BOX 409, Greenhills Pos toffice, Rizal, D-738, Philippines.

We are very grateful for your continued support and especially for the many pra yers in our behalf. We look forward to the challenge the Lord has given us and for the opportunity of seeing you this year. Please continue your prayers for our travel needs, and that this time of transition will be one not too difficult for Marj. May God bless

Dear Christians friends,

Since our return to the U.S. a month ago we've had joyful reunions with family and friends, and met new Christian friends in the South Gate, CA church, the Palo Verde church in Phoenix, and Northside, Memorial, and Second Christian in Houston, TX. I'm delighted

every day again with the openness and friendliness of Americans we meet casually.
just great to be here!

It's

We are eager to share news of the Philippines and our work with you.

One of the

purposes of this letter is to let you know we're here and available for speaking.

Marj's

sister and her husband, June and Dave Fehl of Phoenix, AZ purchased a car for us to use while in the U.S., and it will become available at the end of May. So we plan to begin

traveling through the Midwestern States then. Please see our schedule in the box below showing where we'll be. We'd like to have you contact us and let us know when we could
come to speak.

A couple of weeks before we left Aparri our family attended a Thanksgiving & Praise Rally at the home of Christians in a remote village. Held partly in honor of their children's graduation (one from high school, one from college), Mr. and Mrs. Madrid planned a day of spiritual feasting on God's Word and a feast at noon for our physical delight. It was glorious to gather with Christians from distant places (some having walked three or
four hours over the mountains) under the Madrid house which is built up on posts allowing

the space underneath to be used for storage - or church services! Agtas (dark-skinned, with Negroid features, but small in size), mountain people (brown-skinned, with high cheekbones and straight features), Ilocanos (lowlanders with delicate features), and Americans (those pasty-white individuals from that marvelous land across the ocean) all sang hymns in Ilocano, prayed and worshipped together, shared the communion, and heard messages from God's Word. Afterwards we were talking with some of the Agtas, and a local
non-Christian said in bewilderment, "Why are you talking like this to each other? You

are not the same kind."

Fortunately I remembered an Ilocano phrase from the song, "We The Agtas nodded

are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord," and I spoke the Ilocano words,

"Maymaysatayo amin iti Espiritu, Ken maymaysatayo met amin iti Apo."

and smiled, and I felt the glorious bond of the Spirit which does indeed make us one.

Our dear Filipino "son" Rogelio Tenorio, just wrote us from Aparri with news of the Christian youth camps held April 14-27: record enrollment in both: 65 in Junior camp,

135 in Senior camp, and Praise God! 38 accepted Christ as Savior. The Lord's working through these youth camps to bring young people to Himself has been so beautiful throughout
the years.

News of our fellow missionaries:

Dennis and Lorrita McKinney will be at South Gate,

CA, where he is assistant minister, until their scheduled departure for the Philippines the first of August. Charles and Roberta Selby are finishing up a speaking tour through
the Midwest and will be in Los Gatos, CA, and Phoenix, AZ until he leaves for Che

Philippines the first of June. Roberta will remain in Phoenix for further treatment. Barbara Mangskau is graduating from Ozark Bible College, Joplin, MO and will be leaving for the Philippines the first of June. Chuck and Mickey Richards of Los Angeles, CA
where he has been a minister for many years, came to Aparri just before we left. Chuck

has a Ph.D. in Linguistics and they will be translating the Scripture for a tribal group that doesn't have the Scriptures in their own language. Ann Tolliver arrived in Aparri January 30 after a six-month furlough, and is busily engaged in office work again, and preparations for the opening of the Aparri Bible Seminary on June 10. Each of us needs

your prayers and loving concern.

May God bless you and the work you're doing for Him.

for furlough in April 1974.

We look back over our years in the Philippines from 19641974 with great joy. These past 4 years have been especially re
warding as we've seen the whole

work in northern Luzon expand ing under Filipino and American

leadership.

You may be acquainted with our work with the Aparri Bible Seminary established in 1952 to train Filipino preachers & teachers. From an average of 55 students in the 1960*s, the Seminary grew to 96 students in 1971, 116 in 1972, and a re cord 131 in 1973 The 1974 school year began June 10; a to
tal of 103 enrolled initially. We rejoice that the number of

fulltime college students has increased, according to a let

ter from Charles Selby.

Seminary graduates, working with Brother Peneyra (82 year -

old Filipino preacher) and missionaries, are responsible for

the 90 churches in our area of northern Luzon. This is in

comparison to the 10 that were there when Bro. Peneyra wel comed Charles & Roberta Selby to Aparri in 1947. We praise God for the 86O won to Christ in 1973, throughout northern Luzon. God is doing GREAT things in the Philippines!

opportunities

opened for

blishment of two Christian high schools, non-agricultural. We worked together with the Selbys in getting them started: meeting government regulations, classifying hundreds of books for the libraries, supervising building, etc. Because the curriculum in the Philippines includes a reg ular period for religion. Seminary graduates at the high schools reach every student with daily Bible classes. Twice a year, a special week of concentrated evangelism is held.

RESULTS? 800 young people and teachers have been won to Christ since I967 through the Christian high schools! ALSO! Through the years 25 students from the Christian high schools have attended the Aparri Bible Seminary to train for Christian leadership. Their Bible background is a great asset in their understanding the Scriptural truths taught in the Seminary.
MORE THAN THAT: Parents and friends of the students are

being reached for Christindirectly through the Christian high schools. Filipinos are wary of outsiders in their town; it is impossible to just enter a town and start door^to-door evangelism. But when students from the high school invite us to their homes to teach the Bible, we have access to places we couldn't have entered otherwise.
GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE!

We are looking forward to getting acquainted with many of you in the coming months. I would like to discuss the plans we have for a new program of evangelism using the mass media available in the city of Manila. We hope to begin this soon after we return to the Philippines in June next year, the Lord willing. We are going to be living in Joplin, Missouri beginning August 20. Marj is hoping to be able to find a good doctor in Joplin who will deliver our expected baby about Oct. 20. Most of the O.B.'s said their "October baby quota* was full
when she contacted them last month while we were there house

We are very grateful for the gifts you have contributed to wards Bobby and Scott's education at Faith Academy the past three years. They are facing a challenging world, and the training they have received will be invaluable as they grow both physically and spiritually.
