If the crankcase is not fitted with the proper type and number of relief valves, or if these relief valves are not propely maintained, the inspection doors may be blow off and a secondary event of greater intensity might take place, resulting in peronal injury or damage property. nut. warning to avoid peronal injury or death, never operate the engine without all relief valves on the engine. the abllity of the system to function is dependente upon the proper number of valves. caution - only exercise the valve after the engine has been shut down and allowed to cool. failure to follw these instrucions could cause product damage and/or personal injury. inspect the crankcase pressure relief valves annually to ensure that they are in proper working condition. 1. remove the crankcase inspection door from the engine. 2.removethe locknut, washer and relief valve cover. warning - hold down the spring when removing the spindle follow these instrucions could cause product damage and/or personal injury. 3. remove the spindle nut. 4. remove the spring, the upper and lower spring caps and retainers, remove the two spindle o-rings and the valve plate. 5. remove the wire mesh screen. Clean if needed. inspect for tears of holes. replace if damaged.

Inspect the valve spindle for corrosion. 9. install the new valve plate over the spindle so that the molded rubber seal seats on the carrier.. 10. Lightly grease the spindle and threads. Install the large o-ring. then the small o-ring. 11. Place the lower spring retainer over the orings with the cupped side facing the inspection door, install the spring cap on the retainer, with the cupped side facinf away from the retainer. 12.install the spring so that it sets evenly in the spring cap. 13. Install the upper sping cap with the cupped side facing the spring. install the upper spring cap with the cupped side facing the spring. Install the upper spring retainer on top and inside the spring cap, with the cupped side recessed in the spring cap. 14. while compressing the spring by hand, thread the spindle nut on the spindle. Tighten the spindle nut all the way down. Loosen two turns. 15. install the cover on the spindle with the opening facing the inside of the engine. Install the washer and locknut. While tightening the locknut, center the valve cover on the crankcase door as shown in figure 4. Seat the cover firmly. Tighten the locknut until the cover is tight against teh door.When sufficiently tensioned, the cover should not move or rotate.
