Montage
Description: Photo montage of 2 blended images in Photoshop. Objective: Learn how to use layers, filters, and how to properly blend images together in Photoshop. Date: 06/01/2013 Instructor/Course: Eric Lybbert Comm 130 Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop Process: The first thing I did was to crop the image intended as my background to 8.5 11 in. I then decided to add a filter to this image (filter: Dry brush). I added the image of the temple and made a mask with this image. I decided to desaturate the image of the temple to -70, and then I started to blend it in (I used 10% opacity). I then added the quote I found online, and selected some of the words, and made them bigger for emphasis and contrast. I used two different fonts for contrast, also. 11 in. Logos
Description: Three logo variations for Sweet Melodies. Objective: Create a variety of logos to fit a company or personal image using Adobe Illustrator. Date: 06/28/2013 Instructor/Course: Eric Lybbert Comm 130 Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator Process: I started out by creating a company for baby items, called Sweet Melodies. I decided to make the logos light pink, light blue, and light yellow, to play with the idea of baby items. I looked up a few images of baby items (bottles, rattles, etc.) and used the pen tool in Illustrator to trace the images. I used both the original traced images and variations of the traced images a few times in several of the designs. I made sure all of the logos had pink, blue, and yellow so that the logos wouldnt inclinate too much towards boy or girl. I then went on to choose the fonts for the logos. I wanted the fonts to look fun and playful, and feel that the fonts I used reflect that. 11 in. I decided to add a filter to this image (filter: Dry brush). I then added the image of the temple and made a mask with this image. I decided to desaturate this image to -70, and then I started to blend it in (I think I used 10% opacity). I then added the quote I found online, and selected to make some of the words bigger for emphasis and contrast. I used two different fonts for contrast, also.

Imaging
Description: Personal photograph edited in Photoshop. Objective: Demonstrate good photography and image editing skills in Adobe Photoshop. Date: 05/25/2013 Instructor/Course: Eric Lybbert Comm 130 Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop Process: I took this picture using a Canon Pro camera. I opened my image on Photoshop and cropped the picture, making it 6 x 6 and 150ppi. I then used the quick selection tool to select the parts of the image that I wanted intact. I unsaturated the background of the picture, and used the paint daubs filter on the background. I left the rest of the image intact.

Flyer
Description: Flyer in black and white promoting a graduate leadership conference. Objective: Incorporate basic Adobe InDesign skills to create a flyer. Date: 05/25/2013 Instructor/Course: Eric Lybbert Comm 130 Programs/Tools Used: Adobe InDesign Process: I started out by making some sketches of designs I thought would work well for the flyer. After deciding on two of the sketches, I made both of them on InDesign, and designed them accroding to what I thought would look appealing. I decided to use the picture in the top to take up some of the space. I used black boxes to highlight what I thought were the main points in the flyer. I used repetition and contrast with the boxes and the font. I positioned everything in the flyer so that the viewers eyes would flow throughout the flyer.11 in.

Brochure
Description: A tri-fold brochure about Taller Vega, Inc. Objective: Set up and align a brochure by incorporating quality images, and by incorporating an original logo. Date: 07/13/2013 Instructor/Course: Eric Lybbert Comm 130 Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign Process: I decided to make the layout of my brochure by using the rectangle and ellipse tool on Indesign to make the blue lines in the brochure. I then went on to edit my logo. I had previously made a logo for the company using Illustrator, but I decided that the color was not what I wanted, so I changed it to something brighter. I incorporated some pictures of collision shops and cars, since the ones I had of the actual shop were too low of a resolution. I found some good pictures, and I went on to edit about 4 of them on Photoshop. All I did to these was prepare them by creating a new layer and refining the edges. I finished by place the images and the paragraphs using the line space paragraph style.

Business Card
Description: Create a business card that contains a new logo, and the contact information for the person. Objective: Design consistent layouts for a business card and letterhead using Adobe Illustrator. Date: 06/15/2013 Instructor/Course: Eric Lybbert Comm 130 Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator Process: I decided to create a new logo for the company I had previously created, Sweet Melodies. I chose one of my older designs, and altered it enough to make it a completely new design. I then went on to incorporate the colors from the logo into the business card. I decided to keep it very simple, and incorporated the image of the baby bottle that I had worked on before, as a watermark. I went on to add my contact information. I previously had another version of this, but I decided to fix it and make it more appealing. I spent about two and a half hours redoing my business card, along with my letterhead. decided to add a filter to this image (filter: Dry brush). I then added the image of the temple and made a mask with this image. I decided to desaturate this image to -70, and then I started to blend it in (I think I used 10% opacity). I then added the quote I found online, and selected to make some of the words bigger for emphasis and contrast. I used two different fonts for contrast, also.

Letterhead
Description: Create a letterhead that contains a new logo, and the contact information for the person. Objective: Design consistent layouts for a business card and letterhead using Adobe Illustrator. Date: 06/15/2013 Instructor/Course: Eric Lybbert Comm 130 Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator Process: After I finished the business card, I decided to go on and create a letterhead. I added the logo and the contact information at the top of the page, and I decided to use the baby bottle from the business card to the page as a watermark, as I wanted to keep the business card and letterhead very similar. I used the picture of the bottle at a 10% opacity, because the bottles colors were already very light. The font I used was a sans serif, because I didnt want it to clash with the decorative font from the logo. I previously had another version of this, but I decided to fix it and make it more appealing. I spent about two and a half hours redoing my business card, along with my letterhead. (

Event Ad
Description: A full-bleed event ad about a fundraiser benefitting the Senior Citizens Center. Objective: Be able to create an Ad using only a simple scanner and Microsoft Word. Date: 05/18/2013 Instructor/Course: Eric Lybbert Comm 130 Programs/Tools Used: Microsoft Word Process: I scanned the picture of the couple from an old FHE activities book I had at home, and then I strategically placed it on the page. I did minor cropping on the picture, as I was not able to delete the background. I then added boxes on the page so it would be easier to place the rest of the items. The boxes also allow for repetition. I decided to choose a decorative font for Yard Sale and Come join us to attract more attention, and used a sans serif font for the rest of the body.

Web Page
Description: Webpage created to showcase my logo. Objective: Design a web page using HTML and CSS to display logo and content. Date: 06/29/2013 Instructor/Course: Eric Lybbert Comm 130 Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop, TextWrangler Process: I created my website using TextWrangler. I took the HTML and CSS templates that were given to us by Bro. Lybbert, and I fixed them so they would go according to what I wanted my website to look like. I inserted my image into the template, and once I inserted my image, I used Photoshop to check out the hex colors from my logo and replace them with the ones already in the template. Once I had that done, I looked up font families and chose the one I wanted. I then went on to validate my code with an HTML/CSS validator, and it passed.
