A fence around the playground is the best way to achieve this. I have kids myself and I wouldn't want any parents to see their kids suffer. My child plays at Spring Street Park. Children are more important than our beloved dogs. I would like to be able to bring my children up in downtown but if we cant designate clean and safe area's for them, i will be forced to move. CLARE HOLZER LOS ANGELES, CA 2013-07-12 2013-07-12 I have a 2 year old who plays in this park. I don't think dogs should be allowed in the park at all but a fence might keep them from peeing in there also. I am signing this petition because a fence around the playground area is a necessity to ensure the safety of our kids. There will be a disaster without one. It is irresponsible to think dogs and young children can coexist and it is unfair to both. There are numerous large dogs running free in the park even though it is against the rules. The absence of a security guard to enforce the rules futher establishes the need for a fence. This should be done immediately. The other dangers in the area are the homeless people. A fence will prividea boundry that most people will not cross. Laura Eckert Los Angeles, CA 2013-07-12 2013-07-13 I want Spring Street Park to be a fun and safe space for kids and dogs. A fence around the playground is the best way to achieve this. I'm a mom who loves living in down town LA. Yet my options for toddler play are super limited. While down town is super dog friendly, it is not so friendly to young families. Please help make it easier for us to stay in down town LA. Alexandra Infante Cornell Los Angeles, CA 2013-07-13 I have two young children and I live just 2.5 blocks from this park. I want my kids to feel safe when they play. A fence would help dog owners appreciate the playground's perimeters. I'm quite sure many dog owners are completely unaware (even with posted signs) that they are not allowed in the designated children's area. A fence makes the perimeters obvious. Dogs will come into the park off their leash and I don't want them running into the playground. charity bailey Los Angeles, CA 2013-07-13 There are plenty of dog parks in DTLA especially in that area. If dog owners can not respect a special plot of land for our little ones, then the city must step in to be the regulators and build a fence. Sad buy necessary. Ben Gertner Los Angeles, CA 2013-07-14 My toddler loves the new park. We live next door, so it's a daily destination for play with new friends. Seeing the dogs running around on the grass next to the play area, many off their leashes, distresses me. My daughter also likes to play on the grass, but it's not safe or clean for her because of all the dogs. That's another petition. The fence would at least protect the kids from dogs coming in and stop kids from running out to the water feature and putting themselves at risk. Comment My two years old son does not feel safe around animals; and gets scared. dogs have been entering the playground, creating a safety hazard for the young children who play there every day. Even "good" dogs can become aggressive when approached by young children, so it is essential for the safety of both dogs and children that the playground be kept a kids-only zone. A fence is a cost-effective measure that can prevent a tragedy and allow children and dogs to co-exist safely within Spring Street Park.

Because I have 2 children and I want a safe place for them to play. I have a grand child who wants to play in this park. It is just to dangerous without it being fenced in. I have a 4 year old and we frequent this park regularly. We often see dogs off their leashes. I want to ensure that both kids and dogs can use this park safely.

I used to live in DTLA with my young daughter and finding places for her to play was difficult. I am still close to a lot of the DTLA parents that have to deal with this.

My brother and dad work as personal injury attorneys. I can't tell you how many dog bite cases they've handled. There are things that can scare dogs and make them occasionally behave aggressively and lash out--most often, at little kids doing stupid things. Dog owners, this isn't a mission to vilify your pups--this is protection for them and you as well.

I frequent this park with friends and their children. It may seem like just a piece of grass, but it's a rare oasis in the city. It needs to be kept clean for the kids to play on! A fence would help ensure that!

As a former parent to 5 pooches and 2 foster pooches, this is a great way for little to big humans to pooches to co-exist in the park, and stop the conflict. It is important because my daughter goes to the park with her three year old son. We have three children and this is their only park. This is the park that my grandchildren play in and that we use when we visit them. Some of my really good friends use the park for their little ones. A good idea, easily implemented. Children need safe spaces to play downtown! There are so few parks in downtown that I can really let my daughter run around in. One reason we moved out of downtown. Add the fence - see how many families you'll entice to the area!

Because I have children and friends downtown I like to visit and would make it so much safer to have a fence
