Charging
Always fully charge your system before its first use. Systems are shipped only partially charged and must be fully charged to achieve the proper run time. Take this time to familiarize yourself with the status indictor LEDs mean. The system may be left on the USB charger indefinitely, without harming the battery. Note: All Lithium-Ion batteries lose charge very slowly over time. For maintaining optimum efficiency Light & Motion recommends storing the Lithium-Ion battery with a 40-60% charge. During storage for extended periods, run the battery down and charge it back up to 4060% once every three months. An acceptable alternate method of extended storage is giving the battery a top-up charge once a month. Charge your battery immediately after a ride, remove it from the charger for storage, and then top it up the day of your next ride.

Charging with the USB Cable

1. Plug the included USB cable into the appropriate USB port on your computer. 2. Attach the Vis to the USB cable, inserting the plug into the systems charging receptacle appropriately. (The socket is located on the bottom of the tail light in the Vis 360) 3. Once the battery is attached to the USB charger, a green LED will illuminate on the bottom of the Vis 180 and a green LED will illuminate on the bottom-left side of the Vis 360s tail light indicating the battery is receiving a charge. 4. When the green LED stops flashing and remains a constant green, this is an indication the battery is fully charged. Both the Vis 180 and the Vis 360 will charge from depleted to full in 4:30 hrs.

Installation of Vis
Installing Vis 180 onto your bike
Your Vis 180 can be mounted in two ways; on the bike seat post/seat stay and on your messenger bag or backpack. To mount the 180 to the bike seat post/seat stay place the mounting brackets back firmly against the seat post or seat stay (make sure its above the wheel) and run the strap around to the seat post to the other side of the mount. Feed the strap through the slot, pulling just enough to ensure the position of the mount and then pull the strap back onto the locking peg. To remove, press the body of the light firmly against the mounting bracket and slide the light off.

To mount to your messenger bag or backpack, you do not need the mounting bracket included with the light. Open the Pivot lock arm and slide the light over a strap of no more than 1inch in width or mesh netting, making sure the pin on the body protrudes through the back of the arm. This will ensure that it is in the locked position. Close the arm and enjoy! The Vis 180 is designed so that when the light body is ratcheted in the open position, it cannot be removed from the mounting bracket. Note: Tighten the strap only enough to prevent slipping around the bar.

Installing Vis 360 onto You

The Vis 360 is designed to be mounted on any standard, vented bicycle helmet. Position the base of the light head on top of the helmet, in the middle and slightly forward of center. Pull the strap tight and hook it to the locking peg on top plate. (Fig 17). Now install Vis by sliding the light head Fig 17: Vis 360 up into the chassis. For the rear base, slide the hook and loop strap down front mount. through the proper vent, back up through the opposing vent, and finally through the slot in the base of the mount. Depending on the helmet vents, you may need to use 2 velcro straps (included). Push the tail light of the 360 onto the rear base mount until you feel a clipping sensation.

Vis System Operation

Normal Operation
The Light & Motion Vis 360 has one switch on the top of the head that controls power. A brief button push activates the light where you will find 3 settings: High, Low, and Flash. A single click cycles through each of these settings. The back tail light will remain blinking regardless of what mode the front light is in. Because our riders are versatile cyclists, we design our lights to accommodate those needs. Pushing and holding the button for 1-2 seconds will turn off the light. The Light & Motion Vis 360 has one switch on the side of the body that controls power. A brief button push activates the light where you will find 4 settings: Pulse High, Pulse Low, Steady, and Pace Line. In the first three modes the top cherry light will be active, whether flashing or constant. However in Pace Line mode, the cherry will deactivate leaving on the amber flashers on; this is for the combined comfort of any rider behind you if riding in a group while still giving you ample light to be seen at intended.

Aiming Your Vis 360

For best results at lower speeds, position your light so that you get ample fill/peripheral light in front of the tire from the flood portion of the beam. For faster speeds, you can position it slightly higher so that the spot portion of the beam shoots farther down the road giving you enhanced depth perception and a long line of site.

Battery Discharge Protection

Vis 360 All Light & Motion lights incorporate a low battery warning and battery discharge protection circuit. If the battery becomes discharged, the light head will automatically dim down to try and preserve battery life, this will occur with approximately 15 minutes of battery life to go. Low Battery: Vis lets you know your battery is low in three ways: 1. a drop in light output, 2. a warning flash from the main LEDs. Once in low battery mode, the indicator light will blink for the remainder of the ride, and the main LEDs will flash every minute as a warning (for when your light is helmet mounted). You can easily over-ride this main LED warning flash by simply pressing the button. We dont want you to be surprised by a low battery. Vis 180 All Light & Motion lights incorporate a low battery warning and battery discharge protection circuit. If the battery becomes discharged, the light will automatically drop down into Pace Line mode to preserve battery life, this will occur with approximately 15 minutes of battery life to go. Both the Vis 360 and Vis 180 have a battery status indicator, located on the bottom of the light (bottom left of tail light for the 360). A green light indicates 75%+ charge, an amber/yellow light indicates 50% charge, (solid red indicates 25-50%, red flashing indicates <25%) and red indicates a less than 25% charge at which point it is recommended that you charge the system before the next time you use it. Dead Battery: Vis 360 lets you know when you only have a few minutes left of burn time, similar to the low battery warning. You will see another drop in light output and another warning flash from the main LEDs. As with the low battery mode, you can over-ride the warning flash from the main LEDs and select any light output level you want. Auto-Shutoff:

When Vis cant stay on any longer without damaging the battery, it will shutoff with a slow fade out to give you time to hit the brakes and stop safely.
