Installation Instructions

DuraMax Measuring Center

1. Machine components, installation site and installation conditions

When selecting the installation site, it is essential for you to ensure that the requirements specified below either already exist or will be created by you.

1.1 Components
The system comprises the following components: CMM with controller Control panel Data station Optional: base

1.2 Room height

This dimension equals the sum of the height of the CMM and the minimum installation clearance below the ceiling. Height of DuraMax with adjusting feet ....................................................... 1810 mm Height of base (option)................................................................................. 670 mm Minimum installation clearance .................................................................... 200 mm Required minimum room height above floor or foundation .............. 2680 mm If your DuraMax is delivered without a base, the height of the machine table or measuring plate on which your DuraMax is mounted must be used to calculate the required room height. Your machine table or measuring plate must be designed for a weight load of 500 kg.
Note:

1.3 Floor space required

The dimensions are listed on Page 7. If you draw up a floor plan on a CAD system, you can obtain a DXF and/or a DWG file with the dimensions. Please consult with your contact persons at Carl Zeiss if necessary. When drawing up a floor plan, please make sure that your coordinate measuring machine is readily accessible from all sides. Installation near transport lanes should be avoided at all costs. Select the installation site so that the distance between the CMM and the wall or other machines is at least 500 mm.

1.4 Transport lanes

Check the floor and ceiling loading capacity of transport lanes leading to the installation site. The doorways and transport lanes must be at least 10 cm wider and higher that the CMM assemblies including the transport vehicles. The dimensions and weights of the CMM assemblies are listed in this brochure.

1.5 Ambient conditions

Coordinate measuring machines are quality high-tech products. However, their specified quality can be attained only if the following points are observed. Permissible storage temperature range 5C to 40C (only when left unopened in their original packaging) Avoid storage at temperatures below 5oC, especially in winter.

Ambient conditions for operational readiness Permissible ambient temperature: +15C to +40C Permissible air humidity: 40% - 70% without condensation Altitude (above sea level): - at 100 - 125 V max. 3000 m - at 230 - 240 V max. 2000 m

Temperature conditions for operating the CMM: The measuring uncertainty specified for the DuraMax is guaranteed under the following conditions: 1. Following installation, the CMM rests for 1 day so that it can adapt to room temperature. 2. A measurement correction program featuring input of the workpiece and CMM temperatures and the temperature expansion coefficient of the workpiece material is used. 3. The following temperature conditions are met: CMM type DuraMax Temp. range (C) 18 - 30 Temperature gradient per hour (K/h) 2.0 per day (K/d) 5.0 spatial (K/m) 1.0

Drafts caused by frequent opening and closing of doors should be avoided in the immediate vicinity. Direct heat radiation of any type whatsoever also must be excluded.
Note:

1.6 Vibrations at the installation site

Vibrations caused by heavy machining centers, transport equipment (e.g. cranes and forklifts), presses and forging machines located in adjacent rooms may impair the measuring accuracy of your CMM. The DuraMax is equipped with an integrated damping system to prevent such impairments wherever possible. If you wish, we can perform a vibration analysis for you to determine whether your ambient frequency and amplitude (acceleration) conditions are within tolerance. Please contact your nearest Carl Zeiss representative for more information.

1.7 Floor load

We recommend consulting a structural engineer who is familiar with your on-site subsoil and floor conditions for any floor load calculations and when determining whether reinforcement of the floor (foundation etc.) is required. The load exerted on the floor by the CMM is specified on Page 7 of this brochure.

2. Preparations for installation / Electric power supply

Please make sure that the following preparations are made by the date of installation:

2.1 Preparation of floor surface

The floor surface must be absolutely clean. Maximum difference in height between the 3 supporting surfaces: 5 mm Max. incline per supporting surface (100x100mm): 1mm The system requires two shock-proof wall outlets (max. 16A) and one 5-fold outlet strip (to be provided by the customer). The power supply of the DuraMax is provided by one of the wall outlets. The second wall outlet is required for connecting the outlet strip to supply the peripheral devices with power. We recommend using a lightning arrester, e.g. Phoenix Flashtrab FLT 25-400, as a coarse protection against overvoltage at the installation end. We recommend making the connection according to the following sketch. At the same time, it is also mandatory to observe the relevant national regulations. Connection diagram

2.2 Electrical power supply parameters

To ensure trouble-free data exchange between the DuraMax and the data station, the power supply must have the following parameters. Line power supply: Standard version: 1/N/PE 100, 110, 120, 125, 230, 240V AC Voltage fluctuations: 10% Frequency: 50 - 60 Hz Frequency fluctuations: 3.5% Line fuse protection For 230V or 240V: C 16A fuse For 100V to 125V: 15A fuse Total power consumption: DuraMax: max. 700VA All peripherals: max. 1000VA

2.3 EMC
EN 61326-1 Appendix A, Class A Warning ! This is a class A device, and may therefore cause radio interference in the surrounding area. In such cases, the operator may be required to take appropriate action and bear any costs thus incurred.

2.4 Stabilizing the line voltage

If out-of-tolerance r.m.s. fluctuations of the nominal voltage briefly occur, a line analysis must be performed. Please contact us if you have such a requirement. We will be glad to advise you and suggest suitable measures. In most cases, it is sufficient to install a separate stub cable from the main distributor to the CMM.

2.5 Machine parameters

Overvoltage category: Pollution degree: 2 Protection class: 1

2.6 Teleservice
You will require an Internet connection for Teleservice. For more details, please refer to the "Teleservice" brochure.

2.7 Network topology

The networking of the system components is performed by the ZEISS service engineer according to the valid specifications during initial startup. These settings must not be modified by the customer. Any change could result in connection problems.

2.8 Computer operating system

If the required computers are provided by the customer, the operating system used must not show any limitations in comparison to the one used by ZEISS. Otherwise problems and additional costs may occur during startup.

2.9 Packaging/Transport vehicles

Disposable packaging: H= 2160 mm, W= 1270 mm, D= 1140 mm, total weight = approx. 450 kg (with DuraMax) Please provide a forklift with a sufficient load carrying capacity, a fork length of 1000mm and an adjustable fork width of 550mm (outer dimension) for transporting the packaged units to the storage and/or installation site. The required load carrying capacity of the transport vehicle is specified on the following pages. Be sure to keep all transport lanes free during installation and startup to ensure smooth processing. Packaging materials such as e.g. disposable packaging materials, plastic sheeting or "popcorn" (styrofoam chips) can be reused by Zeiss, provided that they are clean and no dirt is mixed in with them. Please hand over such materials to the forwarding agent for return to their point of origin.

Note:

2.10 Moving the CMM to another location

To prevent damage to the CMM, it may be relocated only when properly secured (e.g. with transport braces) and under the supervision of a qualified system specialist.
