The Editor: This is a brief summary of lawsuits that involve LULAC.

Most of the court documents can be linked to from this post. Included here is the San Marcos-El Paso lawsuit, the Arizona lawsuit, the Corpus Christi lawsuit and the Domingo Garcia lawsuit. The lawsuit that is still hot on the run is the lawsuit filed by Rick Dovalina on behalf of the League of United Latin American Citizens, the members of LULAC, against Margaret Moran and Manuel Escobar. The lawsuit alleges that Margaret Moran and Manuel Escobar mismanaged the assets of LULAC when they sold the LULAC Hacienda Senior Apartment property in Corpus Christi for pennies on the dollar. Margaret Moran and Manuel Escobar are hiding from the process servers who are looking for them in San Antonio to serve them the lawsuit petition. The central issue in the lawsuit is the fiduciary failure of Moran and Escobar in protecting property of LULAC, a corporation organized under the laws of the State of Texas. Manuel Escobar is also being sued on ethical grounds for having a conflict of interest in representing the buyer and seller in the Hacienda transaction. If you know where to find Margaret Moran and/or Manuel Escobar, please inform the Sheriffs civil process service office in Bexar County at 210-3356050.

1. The San Marcos-El Paso lawsuit This is a lawsuit that was filed in El Paso in the summer of 2011 by National LULAC against Texas LULAC, Linda Chavez, Bea Martinez and Joey Cardenas, also known as the San Marcos lawsuit, because the lawsuit was filed just after the Texas LULAC Convention in San Marcos, a convention that was struck down by National LULAC, resulting in National LULAC removing from elected office, Linda Chavez, Bea Martinez, Lourdes Galvan and Pete Anzaldua, Joey Cardenas Having been removed from the office of State Director of Texas LULAC on October 1, 2011 in a separate action by National LULAC because Luis Vera wanted Joey Cardenas and Texas LULAC from joing forces with MALDEF via the Texas Latino Redistricting Task Force in the Texas redistricting fight. Luis Vera wanted National LULAC, a Latino civil rights organization, to take a lead on Texas redistricting fight that would benefit the Texas Democratic Party and the NAACP. Joey Cardenas and Texas LULAC were a problem for Luis Vera, so he engineered the plot to get rid of Joey Cardenas in 2011 and in June of

2012, he master-minded the plot to get rid of Linda Chavez, Bea Martinez, Lourdes Galvan and Pete Anzaldua through National LULAC action and then went for the lawsuit in El Paso to keep Joey Cardenas, Linda Chavez and Bea Martinez in check. The Arizona lawsuit This lawsuit is the lawsuit that tries to get LULAC to recognize about 129 delegates from Arizona LULAC who were disqualified as LULAC delegates at the Arizona LULAC Convention this past June. The original complaint and the order are attached below. The Arizona court recommends that the delegates be seated at the National LULAC Convention that was held in Las Vegas a few days later.
