TIPS CONTENT STRUCTURE 1.

. 2 Main Paragraphs: Point Reason/Elaboration Example Drive home point again/Link to opening stand OR Personal Anecdote/ Life event of some famous person Point Elaboration Link to opening stand OR Build rapport with audience by starting with a question i.e. How many of you have Agree youre like them to Tell your personal story Point Elaboration Message

2. Body: Literal Meaning/Figurative Interpretation Good/Bad/Indifferent POV 1/POV 2/ POV 3 Past/Present/Future Cause/Effect/Remedy Social/Political/Economic Before/The Event/The Result

SOURCE OF CONTENT CONTENT 1. Your own opinion 2. Current events 3. Life stories of famous people that can be applied to different situations e.g. Edison and his light bulb can be used for innovation, perseverance, formal education vs self-taught knowledge. But come up with more innovative examples

Spatial marking: 1. When youre telling a story Angle your body sideways to the audience, look upwards when you speak (dont worry its an LT so its not like youre looking into space)

In the story when youre a different character Angle your body the other way/ Turn in the opposite direction as if youre replying to the protagonist in your story Change body language to suit character. E.g. Jackie Chan moves faster than the old Kung Fu people.

2. When youre talking about two different POVs 1st POV to the left of audience 2nd POV move to the right side of the stage When talking about 1st POV move again to the left

3. When youre driving home a message for the audience Take a step forward

4. When youre talking about past, present, future Imagine the stage is a time line. You start at one point. Then when you say 5 years later when I was 13 move along the time line. Then when you say In the future move again along the time line. Word of caution: You must be brisk when you walk so it seems like a purposeful action in line with your time change. And use your hands too to mark each juncture.

5. When youre comparing two things Angle your body to the right of audience and talk about first thing. Look at right of LT. If its something small, your hand gestures can be small. If its something exciting, your actions will be dramatic. On the other hand Angle your body to the left of the audience. Look at left side of LT. If its something big, your hand gestures will be big. If its something dull, toned down actions.

Spatial marking is easy if you structure the body of your speech into two or three main sections.
