What Is Faith According To The Bible

02A.1 What is faith according to the Bible? In Hebrews 11:1 this is clearly explained: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (NKJV) Faith is a confident assurance, a well-grounded assurance that something we want and hope for is going to happen. It is a conviction (strong belief) of the reality of things we hope for, which we cannot yet see. What does having faith mean? In Romans 4:18-21, Apostle Paul wrote about Abraham's faith: 18. Hoping in spite of hopeless circumstances, he believed that he would become "the father of many nations," just as he had been told: "This is how many descendants you will have." (Si Abraham ang ginhalinan sg 12 Tribes of Israel) 19. He did not weaken in faith when he thought about his own body (which was already as good as dead now that he was about a hundred years old) or about Sarah's inability to have children, 20. nor did he doubt God's promise out of a lack of faith. Instead, he became strong in faith and gave glory to God, 21. being absolutely convinced that God would do what he had promised. Having faith is hoping in spite of hopeless circumstances. Having faith is never doubting the promises of God. Having faith is being absolutely convinced that God would do what he had promised to do. (Pareho sa kay Abraham nga kumbinsido gd cya nga tumanon sg Ginoo ang gnpromisa nya sa iya..bisan pa nga baog c Sarah nga asawa ni Abraham, nkabata cla kg amo ang ginsuguran sg madamo nga mga pungsod) Faith must have a basis of which it must be firmly rooted and grounded. In the olden days God talked directly to people as in the case of Abraham but in these last days we have only the Holy Scriptures to rely upon. In the Christian era, the promises of God is in the Gospel of Christ which are written in the Holy Bible. In order to ground our faith in the Gospel, we must believe that the Gospel being preached to us is true and that the Bible on which the Gospel was written must also be true. Can we ground our faith in the Holy Bible? What kind of book is the Holy Bible on which we are going to base our faith? In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, this is written: All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God's way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do.

The Holy Bible was given by inspiration of God and it is useful to teach us what is true. The scripture is God's way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do. Everyone is encouraged to verify the truthfulness of the Holy Bible, so one may gain confidence that the Holy Bible can become the basis of his faith. (Ang tagsa2x gna-encourage nga pagatun an ang Bibliya para mapamatud an sa iya kaugalingon ang mga nakasulat diri) 02A.4 What should be the ultimate goal of our faith, the things we should hope for which we will receive in the future? In the following verses, these are written: and you are sure of the goal of your faith, that is, the salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:9) (ang kaluwasan sg aton mga kalag) Blessed is the man who endures trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life which God has promised to those who love him.(James 1:12) (Balaan ang tawo nga nagaantos sa mga pgtilaw kay magabatun cya sg korona sg kabuhi nga gnpromisa sg Ginoo sa tanan nga nagapalangga sa iya) The ultimate goal of our faith should be the salvation of our soul and the receipt of the"Crown of Life"the eternal life in heavenwhich God has promised that He will give as a reward for those who love Him.

36A No One Knows (Even The Son) The Day Or The Hour
Judgment Day at the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ is the end of God's patience with the sinners who are stubborn and refuse to turn away from their sins. This is the time when God's kindness and tolerance to sinners will run out and the rewards of eternal life will be given to the righteous and eternal punishment will be meted out to the wicked. Everyone must always be prepared for the Day of Judgment for no one knows when he will die (cessation of breath) or when Judgment Day will come, this is to ensure the salvation from God's wrath and the attainment of eternal life in heaven. Let us study the scriptures so we may not be misled from the truth written in the Bible.

36A.1 What should man realize about Judgment day? In Hebrews 9:27, Apostle Paul emphatically projects: And just as it is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgment, (RSV) Man should realized that Judgment Day will surely come, as it is the Almighty God who appointed death to all men is the same God who appointed Judgment Day to happen. What relevance has this truth about Judgment day in man's life? Man must realize that his problem in this world will not end on his death (cessation of breath) After this death, comes the Judgment, when God will judge the way he lived in this world. After the Judgment, comes the eternal punishment in the lake of fire, which is the second death.

36A.2 What should man realize about God's goodness, kindness, tolerance and patience with the sinner? In Roman 2:4, this is written: Don't you realize how kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Or don't you care? Can't you see how kind he has been in giving you time to turn from your sin? (NLT) God is giving man time to turn or repent from his sins. 36A.3 Is there an end to God's patience with sinners? Is there an end to the opportunity for repentance? In Romans 2:5, This is written: But no, you won't listen. So you are storing up terrible punishment for yourself because of your stubbornness in refusing to turn from your sin. For there is going to come a day of judgment when God, the just judge of all the world, (NLT) The same verse in another version of the bible: But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of

wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, (NKJV) God knows that there are many who won't listen and have hard and impenitent heart.God's goodness, kindness, forbearance, longsuffering, tolerance and patience with the sinners will come to an end, and that end will be on the Day of Wrath or the Day of Judgment. 36A.4 When is the end of God's patience or the Day of Wrath or Judgment Day? In Mark 13.32, this is written: "But of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. (NKJV) NO ONE KNOWS the day or the hour when God, the Father will send the Son, Jesus Christ for the second time to judge the world in righteousness. Will the Lord Jesus know the day and hour when the Father will send Him? Definitely not, the verse clearly says that the Son does not know it and neither does the angels in heaven. Who only knows about it? The verse is clear, "only the Father knows it". "ONLY THE FATHER KNOWS" when Judgment day will happen. No one knows the day or the hour for the Lord will come as a thief in the night. 36A.5 How did Apostle Paul liken the time of coming of the Lord or Judgment Day? 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3, this is written: For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, "Peace and safety!'' then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. (NKJV) The day of the Lord will come "unexpectedly like a thief in the night". When people are saying, ``All is well, everything is quiet and peaceful''--then, all of a sudden, disaster will fall upon them "as suddenly as a woman's birth pains begin when her child is born". And these people will not be able to get away anywhere--there will be no place to hide.

Man should realized that Judgment Day will surely come, as it is the Almighty God who appointed death to all men is the same God who appointed Judgment Day to happen. God's tolerance and patience with the sinners will come to an end, God is giving man time to turn or repent from his sins. But, God knows that there are many who won't listen and have hard and impenitent heart. So, God's tolerance and patience with the sinners will come to an end, and that end will be on the Day of Wrath or the Day of Judgment. No one knows the time, not even the Son nor the angels in heaven, only the Father knows about it. So be prepared at all times, for the day of the Lord will come "unexpectedly like a thief in the night" .
