FROM the Fashion desk

There is always something cheerful and bubbly about this time of the year. The bright sun, celebratory colours and a festive aroma fill the air. Very much in sync with the mood, we at Jabong.com worked a little harder to give you this booklet that talks about style, fashion and more. Just like our wide collection, the booklet unleashes wearable fashion and styles that each one of us personify in our everyday lives. From bright hues and rich textures to shapely silhouettes, you will see clothes drawing inspiration straight from the ramps. Our cover model Klaudia and her male counterpart, Freidrich playfully showcase some of our handpicked styles of the season. Both of them romantically remind us of the good old college days. What adds to the celebration is the section featuring looks created specially for the beautiful festivals. The royal drapes and jewels effortlessly make us want to dress up and celebrate. Where every section and story has something special to render, what really pulls our attention is the feature, Colour Conduct, by the famous designer duo, Gauri and Nainika. It subtly answers one of the most common queries on combining the right colours. Surely, a lot of you have a reason to smile. Another feature that men should not miss is, The Foot Law that tells you about different styles in mens shoes and the right ways to wear them. And by the time you are done enjoying this copy, we shall have more fashion encased surprises coming your way. Do share your feedback about the booklet at fashionandstyle@jabong.com so that our upcoming features suit your needs and penchant the best.

Maxi dresses are classic and contemporary at the same time. Check out few styling tips from Shalini and see how you can make the most of the flowy and long garment.

1. Reebok Sunglasses
A classic piece, this pair of aviators will never die out as a fashion must-have.

Choose your shoes

Wedges and flats are the key! They are the soulmate to maxis. Anything with a slight heel too will work, however, for heels lover like me, nothing else can fit better.

Control the flow

Colour blocking

To look stylish in longer hems without projecting any signs of frumpy-ness, is solely dependent on how you style it. Give shape to your maxi by throwing one fitted garment - waistcoat, blazer, shrug or a high-waist belt are the tricks to control the frumpiness.

is a trend that never gets old and if you are convinced just like us then check out what Lesly Lobeni, Fashion Blogger/writer has to say. Inspired mainly from the crazy and exuberant 80s, it had been silenced in the 90s but as fashion is cyclic, we see it once more and it has indeed gone viral. While the runway shows from Betsey Johnson to Chanel Spring/Summer 2012 are as yummy as they look. Here is an online shopping portal like Jabong.com that has come to the rescue, giving us a wide range of choices. Bang on trend and at such a bargain price that we might need to rub our eyes twice...Maybe thrice!!

2. Vendee Fashions Bracelet

Its an accessory that will complete your outfit as simple and classy `799

Accessorise well

Personality-revealing details in accessories like a bowler hat and boots or a quirky ribbon belt define your persona and will make your maxi stand out. Finish your ensemble with a petite across-body bag which works perfectly.

Boat Shoes

THE
While I was contemplating what should I write about in this space that could largely interest men, I saw a handsome man, immaculately dressed. But as my eyes rolled over to see his shoes, I was taken aback with a sense of fashion revulsion. To throw in some clarity, he was wearing trekking shoes from a famous outdoor shoes brand under a neat formal shirt and pleated pants. And within seconds I knew what needs to go in this space. I see a lot of men making unforgiveable blunders with shoes. Primarily, this might be because men become comfortable with particular brands and often hitch in experimenting with different styles of shoes. But remember the saying, A mans personality is known by his shoes? Having faith in the same saying, this feature will talk about some popular kinds of shoes and how to pair them right.

LAW
Boat Shoes
Just as the name suggests, these have a special rubber sole to prevent slipping on boat. They are today one of the stylishly preferred shoes that can be worn casually but due to their nautical nature, socks are a big no. Some of the patent leather boat shoes can be considered as dressy but yet not appropriate for business suits.

Oxford Shoes

Oxford shoes
The shoes that imbibe heritage, oxfords can be worn both casually and formally depending on their style. Dressy leather oxfords are classified into bluchers and balmorals according to their lacing style. Not getting too complicated, let me just tell you the basics. The closer the lacing and the simpler the design, the more formal will the shoes be. The ones with a neat toecap and glossier texture are perfect for dressy look. All of these can be worn with formals, business suits, dinner jackets and tuxedos. Casual oxfords, also called saddle shoes, feature a different colour overlapping on the instep and more prominent perforations and stitching on the vamp and the toe cap. You can wear these with jeans and definitely with chinos.

Basic rules
-
Loafers

Pick shoes that either match or are darker than your pants. Please, go beyond matching your shoes and socks. It is, infact suggested that you dont. If you are really fashion-forward then play with the colour of your shoes with a contrasting belt, otherwise be safe and match them.

- -

Casual sneakers
Though, this is not any specific style in shoes, I am incorporating it so that I can bring to thought the difference between casual laceups and running shoes or sports sneakers. Men consider sports shoes as casual shoes and wear them with jeans and chinos and trust me they look hideous. Whats worse is when sports shoes are paired with formal pants. Casual sneakers can be worn with denims, casual and semi-formal pants such as chinos, flat front trousers, shorts and more.

Loafers and Monk-Straps

Simply stating, loafers do not have laces and monk-strap shoes generally have a buckle and strap. You can wear loafers with jeans but not the dressy ones that are meant for a more formal look. Colourful suede loafers are really a trend at the moment. Just avoid wearing them with white socks and while wearing with shorts, wear no socks at all. It is also suggested to bare a little ankle while wearing loafers.

Sports Shoes

Outdoor shoes and sports shoes

All I want to say is that keep outdoor shoes for your trekking trips and sports shoes for the fields and treadmills.

Moccasins
A lot of us confuse between moccasins and loafers. To simplify, moccasins are made up of soft leather or suede and the vamp is generally stitched to the sides. It is preferable to wear these without socks. Wear them just like the suede loafers with shorts, linen, denims and casual cotton pants.

I hope this feature helped but if you want more insights, please write to me at fashionandstyle@jabong.com

Without much debating, one fact we know is that most women often worry about the way they look and the troublesome fat. But does it really matter what size and shape are you? Because we at Jabong.com feel that all it takes to look beautiful is to dress in a way that it complements your silhouette.
To assure the same, I interviewed some of the most fashionably healthy women and made a few pointers in respect to each body type. After spending a considerable time with them, extracting hints of their wardrobes, I concluded that its essentially important to understand your body type and dress accordingly. Picking out stylish clothes without regard to how it will look on your body can be an utter dreckitude. But if flaunted with style and confidence, even the fat on your belly can look cute. Check out the different body types and see how to stylize them.

and greens; reds, maroons, pinks, orange etc.

This is a kind of body type in which we see small bust and narrow shoulders but the hips are comparatively bigger. This is the most commonly seen body type in women. This kind of body type can be characterized by a slender neck, narrow shoulders, small bust and rib cage, shapely waist, and a fuller lower body with generous hips and thighs. The major thing which needs to be considered is to create a balance between your hips and your shoulders while showing off your curves. The key is to accentuate the top half or the body. Wear happy colours, prints or a detailed neckline that can take all the attention. Just make sure that your tops are long enough to cover the hips as it may draw unnecessary attention.

ndia is known for its love for colour and vibrancy. People love wearing bold and bright hues, especially on occasions. Were often asked how to to team different colours, especially the brighter ones. Though there are no rules in fashion, some of our favorite combinations that always work are here. Some of the more vibrant colours that look

Classic
1. Black & white- this stark contrast is timeless and never fails to make an impression. 2. Pink & black- for its ultra feminine and coquettish charm. 3. Nude & black- always so chic. 4. Navy and cream- this nautical combination epitomizes the holiday spirit. 5. Navy & black- some might think this is odd but it makes for one of the most understated and classy colour combinations. One should never be afraid to experiment with colour and youll always go out feeling like a star. If youd rather be more subtle and sophisticated, then one can still mix the classic shades and feel ultra chic.

killer when teamed with each other are-1. Red and grey 2. Fuchsia and red. 3. Maroon and red. 4. Blue and green. 5. Oyster and plum. 6. Yellow and white

The above mentioned categories are according to the most common body types.

HOURGLASS BODY SHAPE

It`s a kind of shape where the bust measurement is roughly the same as the hip measurement. The difference in the waist from the hip or the bust is about 7-10 inches. This kind of body type looks highly curvaceous. To look good, you should prefer wearing V-necks and knee length dresses. Always go in for a defined waistline rather than emphasizing it by wearing a belt. Shoulder-bearing halter dresses can also be a great option as that will draw attention away from the hips for a more balanced effect. You can look elegant by wearing a pencil shaped skirt, good support lingerie with the wrap around dresses. For winters short fitted jackets can look really fabulous over long tops or dresses.

People with this kind of body type have hips and shoulders of almost the same width but the waist measurement is less by 6-9 inches than the hip/shoulder measurements. Ideally, it`s one of the commonly seen body types. The first thing that you need to do is to create curves in your figure. Prefer wearing tops or dresses that feature a scoop or a sweetheart neck. Tie your waist with any kind of belt giving it an hourglass shape. Wearing tops with collars, ruffles and details can flatter your bust.Adding layers will defiantly add more volume to the rectangle body shape.

YOUR THICK WAIST or TRIANGLE BODY TYPE

APPLE SHAPED BODY

An apple shaped body type is one of a kind where we see ample bust, rounded stomach and slimmer hips. You can look really nice and elegant by wearing an elongated top. V-necks or boat necks should be the most preferred necklines as that will glide the body type. These kinds of silhouette will give a slimming effect. Dont go in for too tight or too loose clothing, but you can add but you can add sleek accessories like a belt or elongated fancy rope. This will give a slight definition to your waist. Prefer wearing a single coloured top and bottom. Too-tight and tapered jeans fail in creating a clean, straight line from the waist down.

This kind of body type features a heavy frame that seems to be arising from the narrow shoulders, small waist and large hips. To create a balance we need to visually broaden the upper body. Wearing horizontal lines, puffed sleeves will broaden your shoulders. Slightly loose or fit dresses can be worn and the upper can be emphasized. A cropped jacket is sure to give you the illusion of long legs. Wearing darker shades for lower halveswill definitely make the legs appear slimmer. Go for vertical lines at the bottom besides straight fit or A-line skirts that can be a good choice. Don`t follow fashion blindly. Check out for new cuts and

Colour blocking has been a big trend for many years now. The combinations here that we love most are- black & white along with hints of red, or blue or different shades of grey, or yellow. When dressing up, all these colours can be put together in many ways. One could team up separates such as a red blouse with a fuchsia pencil skirt/cigarette pants or vice versa. Oyster high-waist trousers with a plum shirt in chiffon. A grey dress with a red belt. Basically in any manner that may appeal to one. These days, skinny jeans in the brightest of colours such as parrot green, electric blue, pink, yellow etc are in vogue and easy to find. These look very retro and quite spectacular when worn with tanks/shirts/blouses in bold colours. Its quite simple really! Also, shades from the same family look super when teamed up. A few such shades are blues

always looks phenomenal when combined with black or cream.

I have been reading a lot on Neon Trend but sadly have not been able to experiment with it myself. Can you please suggest how can I wear neon in a way that it does not look too experimental?
Neons are a summer favourite and can make for an instant fashion statement. To start with, you can flaunt it via accessories, bags and shoes. Choose beautiful bright neon pumps and wedges or neck-pieces to give a fashion boost to dull and boring outfits.

I have very broad forehead and I really want to cover it. Can you please tell how?
Go for heavy bangs the next time you plan a haircut. Keep the remaining mane long and straight. Also, wear solid colours on your lips to shift the focus.

I have a dark complexion. What colours will suit me?

More than the complexion, it is your personality that matters ile deciding your clothes. With the right makeup and accessorizing, you can pull off almost any colour,But if you like to stick to safe colours then avoid neons and very bright colours and wear more of darker tones and pastels.
Srishti Mishra, Kanpur

I am a very thin guy and everything I wear makes me look very lanky. Please suggest what can I wear to look fuller
Wear horizontal stripes as they give an impression of width. Also, you can casually wear shirts over t-shirts and structured jackets or blazers for a more formal look. Avoid loose and hanging denims as they might look clumsy. Rather try smart chinos and linen pants.

Pear shaped bodies can look very appealing if styled well. So dont worry and try balancing your bottom with your torso. You can wear beautiful tops with scooping necklines and pretty lace work so that it pulls all the attention. Along with that, wear simple and structured bottoms in dark and solid colours. Favourite Trend? This year, I have been completely in love with lace as it beautifully defines a royal state of femininity. But avoid accessorising as lace in itself is very detailed and eye catching. A statement ring and pretty heels are enough. Style Tip? Never be scared of experimenting and try whatever you like. Do not seek for societal approvals. You might just become the next trendsetter. Worst Faux Pas? Girls either do not wear short dresses/skirts or if you do then dont wear leggings. It makes for an ugly combo that is neither Indian nor western.

Just team up with a statement scarf, a watch, bright moccasins and shine in eyes. Style Tip? Wear what you like because you have to carry it not others. Worst Faux Pas? Women using foundation 3-4 times lighter than their skin colour. They look like ghosts.

Favourite Trend? In love with soothing pastels specially mint green. A simple white top or checkered shirt, mint green complements most of the other pastel colours Style Tip? Play with pastels, prints, motives, checks etc. And team up with cute and fun accessories. Worst Faux Pas? The whole idea of wearing pastels goes in vain if you team it up with strong and bright colours.

Favourite Trend? An elegant black jacket that can add a lot of glamour to your basic and plain attire. Complete the look with beautiful pumps or platforms. Style Tip? Though mono-coloured dressing is in, Id still suggest avoid wearing same toned lowers and uppers. Breaking the monotony is always safe. Worst Faux Pas? Girls going overboard with accessories, like heavy neck piece and big earrings at the same time is a big No!

Favourite Trend? Relaxed clothing is the key. Wear chinos and light printed t-shirts. I love this Kurt Cobain white t-shirt from French Connection. Add a dash of colour to your casuals with colourful lace-ups/loafers. Style Tip? Judge your face-cut well and invest in good sunglasses as they can really define your attitude and style and make you look good. Worst Faux Pas? Sports shoes are meant for the field or the treadmill and not to be worn on formal pants. Wearing formal black loafers on casuals is another disappointment.
