Check Point Is the latest Pipe routing being followed? (i.e. is the latest revision of isometric / GAD being followed?) Are the latest revisions of structural/pressure-vessel/other relevant drawings being followed? Is the line critical? Has it been stress analyzed or has any other study been carried out (e.g. analog study, dynamic analysis or nomograph check)? If yes, are the supports in lin e with the recommendations? Does the isometric/GAD contain a reference to the stress data/ the study? Does the support require any additional structural attachment (e.g. bracket)? Is the attachment non-standard? Has the requirement been forwarded to Structural group? Has the selected support been checked for the following? Size. Material (e.g. AS / SS for cold or high temperatures). Type with respect to hot / cold / no insulation. Load carrying capacity (self, pedestal, column, beam, equipment, etc). Functionality i.e. purpose in arresting / providing the required degree of movement e.g. thermal growth & rotation. Possibility of adjustment, if required. Vibration dampener, if required. Possibility of removing e.g. for/during maintenance. Completeness for construction (Support should not be defined in descriptive language. Instead a standard type should be preferred or a sketch should be made for non-standard ones). Possible clash with any other object. Roller supports or low friction pads e.g. Teflon / Graphite. Hydrostatic loads. Slope. Diameter / schedule of dummy pipe (if non-standard).

GUIDE ON CHECK POINTS FOR PIPE SUPPORTS S. No. 12

GUIDE No. 8-1643-9904 Rev. NO. 2 Page 4 of 4 P R A Remarks

Check Point Have the safety valve inlet & discharge lines been adequately supported? For closed system, has a fixed support been used on either inlet or outlet line? For atmospheric discharge, has the reaction force been taken care of while selecting the pipe supports? Is there a possibility of slug formation in the line? If yes, has the slug analysis been carried out and the adequacy of supports checked? Have the control valve assemblies been anchored at one end? Is the other end guided? Does the actuator assembly need separate supporting? Has it been checked with instrumentation? Have pedestal foundations been marked where needed? Have adequate clearances been ensured for linear movements (axial as well as lateral) greater than 25mm? Has the gap between lines at loop area been sufficiently increased (normal gap plus expansion) to avoid interference? Is there any spring support? Mechanical / Hydraulic snubber? Counterweight assembly? Have these assemblies been checked for space availability? Is there any support from equipment platform? Can this be avoided? If not, has the group leader's approval been taken? Has the load been forwarded to Structural department? Have the supports been provided for vents, drains, instrument taps, sample connections, etc? Does the type of guide support ensure that the line would not jump out from its position because of hammer operation, maloperation, etc? Is the documentation complete?
