The DES-1008F is a 8-port Palm-size Switch that presents an outstanding choice for small workgroups. The switch has 7 10/ 100Mbps NWay Ethernet ports and one 100Mbps Fiber port (SC). The Fiber port can be used for long distance connection, up to 2 km in full duplex mode and makes the DES-1008F ideal for fiber-to-the-home broadband solutions. 7 NWay Ports,1 100Mbps Fiber Port The DES-1008F is designed for small workgroups and is ideal for a small office, a home or implementation of a Fiber to the Home broadband solution, where the built-in 100Mbps Fiber port eliminates the need for mediaconversion from Fiber to Ethernet. The DES-1008F is compact and suitable for installation in tight desktop space and can also easily be wall mounted. NWay Flexibility The switchs NWay ports automatically negotiate between 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX network speeds, as well as between full and half duplex modes. Any port can thus act as an uplink to Fast Ethernet or downlink to Ethernet. Easy to Expand Expansion can be accomplished by cascading two or more switches together. As all 10/100Mbps ports support 200Mbps full duplex, switch cascading can be made from any port and any number of switches. Easy to Migrate The switch is a perfect choice for sites planning to upgrade to Fast Ethernet in the future. Ethernet workgroups can connect to the switch now, and change adapters and hubs anytime later without the need to change switches or reconfigure. Desktop Power The palm sized DES-1008F is convenient and can fit on virtually any desktop. As a palm switch the DES-1008F is set up for direct connection from users creating a separate domain for each workstation attached. This relieves data bottlenecks by giving each workstation its own dedicated bandwidth on the network. Dependable Packet Switching The switchs parallel store-and-forward architecture allows direct port-to-port data transfer between multiple 100BASETX networks with full error checking that eliminates incomplete packets, runs or CRCs from your network traffic
