Upgrading Informatica Developer

When you upgrade Informatica Developer and you have Data Transformation Studio 9.1.0 installed on an existing version of Eclipse, the installer does not update the path in the Eclipse plug-in file to the new Data Transformation Studio 9.5.0 installation directory. After you upgrade Informatica Developer, go to the directory <EclipseDir>/links, open the plug-in file com.itemfield.cm.studio.link in a text editor, and set the following path:
Path=<Informatica9.5.0InstallationDir>\\Clients\\DT\\eclipseAdapter3_3

(CR 300339)

Upgrading to the Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver 9.5

When you install the Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver 9.5 on a machine with an earlier version of Informatica Developer, the driver does not work. To configure the Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver 9.5 to work with previous versions of Informatica Developer, contact Informatica Global Customer Support. (CR 300671)

Upgrading Profile and Scorecard Jobs

After you upgrade from version 9.0.1 or 9.1.0 to version 9.5.0, copy the profile log files from the 9.0.1 or 9.1.0 install directory to the 9.5.0 <Installation_Directory>\tomcat\bin\disLogs\profiling directory. (CR 307162)

Description After the domain logs this message, the domain does not accept connections, the Administrator tool is inaccessible, and nonmaster gateway nodes stop running. However, existing Informatica client tool connections to the domain remain active.

295149 295092 293907

When the Content Management Service runs on Linux, it does not stop when you shut down the domain. In version 9.1.0 HF4, the domain logs display user, group, and privilege synchronization messages every five minutes. When you enable transport layer security for the domain, the Analyst Service writes multiple connection errors in the Analyst Service logs. The Administrator tool becomes unavailable because of a Java memory error. When logical data object caching is enabled and the Data Integration Service restarts, the Data Integration Service publishes a duplicate cache instance statistic based on the existing cache instance in the database. Two cache instance statistics with the same storage name and different IDs display. When you run a mapping that contains an uncached Lookup transformation, Data Integration Service might not release the database table intent locks if it runs the mapping in a reusable DTM instance. The Monitoring tab of the Administrator tool shows completed jobs when you view jobs that are currently running. When the Data Integration Service tries to write a message that exceeds 12,000 characters into the Model Repository Service, profile jobs run continuously in Informatica Administrator, and the following internal errors occur: [PERSISTENCEAPI_0307], [DBPERSISTER_1005]. When a node shuts down, the log files do not list the specific reasons why the node shut down. When a node shuts down, the log files do not list the specific reasons why the node shut down. The domain does not generate a heap dump by default when it encounters OutOfMemoryError. When a process fails to complete because a client disconnects unexpectedly from a service, issues such as file descriptor leaks, BEEP errors, or component failures may occur. When the connection to the domain configuration database from a non-master gateway node fails and the master gateway node becomes unavailable, the non-master gateway node shuts down. When you redeploy an application that contains a relational data object with a changed connection, the application uses the new connection, but still refers to the original connection. The application fails to start if the original connection was deleted. Users who do not have any privilege on the Reporting and Dashboards Service can log in to JasperReports Server. If you click the Connections view before the Domain Overview view finishes loading or if a user without the Administrator role tries to create a connection, the Administrator tool might shut down. In addition, the tool does not display options in the Connection Actions menu. The Data Integration Service does not process data of the base64binary or hexbinary datatype when converting data that contains newline characters from hierarchical to relational. The Data Integration Service does not process data of the base64binary or hexbinary datatype on a 64-bit system when the precision is too high.

Informatica Domain Known Limitations

CR 306111 Description You cannot create a Data Integration Service in Informatica Administrator on non-English operating systems. Workaround: Add English as a language option in the Internet browser. 309105, 305872 The Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver 9.5 does not load with the driver manager in AIX systems. Workaround: Create a soft link from the libinfadsodbc.a file to the libinfadsodbc.so file. Use the libinfadsodbc.so file in the odbc.ini entries. You cannot cancel or abort a workflow when a Command task has spawned a new process that is still running. Workaround: Manually terminate the spawned process and then cancel or abort the workflow. 305824 The process to export an address validation mapping to PowerCenter raises errors in the following scenario: - The Address Validator transformation specifies more than one execution instance. - The Address Validator transformation uses one or more ports from the U.S. Specific group, and any port name exceeds 80 characters in length. Workaround: Export the mapping as an XML file, and edit the XML to ensure that the U.S. Specific port names contain fewer than 80 characters. Save and import the XML file to PowerCenter. 305576 The Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver 9.5 does not work if Transport Layer Security is enabled in the Informatica domain. Workaround: Disable Transport Layer Security if you install the Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver 9.5. 305523 305455 Show Query Plan runs continuously when you query an SQL data service that contains data quality transformations. Data object caching does not work on IBM DB2 for data objects that contain binary columns with precision that exceeds 256 bytes. The Data Object Cache Manager creates empty tables in the cache database that cannot be used for storage. When you run a workflow on grid, the workflow does not perform load balancing in a Mapping task in the following scenario: - The workflow uses the exceptionLoadCount variable that the Mapping task writes as output. - The mapping runs on a worker node. The Administrator tool might become unresponsive if the domain fails over when the Administrator tool is not running on the master gateway node. The Monitoring tab does not sort newly added jobs by start time when there are multiple jobs displayed in list view. Workaround: Manually sort the jobs based on the Start Time column. 304769 An ODBC DSN failure occurs when business intelligence tools try to consume the Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver 9.5, if the driver was installed as part of the Informatica server installation. Workaround: Install the Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver 9.5 as a stand-alone, and add the services/shared/bin driver installation path to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. 304354 304285 When a node shuts down, some processes running on the node remain running as orphan processes. A DIAG [IM003] error occurs because WinSQL cannot load the Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver 9.5.

CR

Description Workaround: Install the Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver for PowerCenter.

304225

When you use the Administrator tool to change a worker node to a gateway node, the change does not occur. Workaround: Run infacmd isp switchToGatewaynode to change the worker node to a gateway node.

303977

When you create a Data Integration Service using the infacmd dis CreateService command, you cannot set the HTTP protocol type to HTTPS or Both. Workaround: Use the infacmd dis CreateService command to create the Data Integration Service. Then, use the infacmd dis UpdateServiceOptions command to set the HTTP protocol type to HTTPS or Both.

303975

If you upgrade to version 9.5.0 and start the Data Integration Service before you upgrade the Model Repository Service, the Workflow Service Module does not properly initialize. Workaround: Restart the Data Integration Service after you upgrade the Model Repository Service.

303801

The Data Integration Service Process ignores the Storage Directory property for result set caches. Similarly, it ignores the "ResultSetCacheOptions.StorageDirectory" option when you run the infacmd dis UpdateServiceProcessOptions command. When you cancel a business intelligence tool connection to an SQL data service in Informatica Administrator, the business intelligence tool shuts down unexpectedly. You cannot view users that are locked out of the domain in the Account Management tab of the Administrator tool when LDAP users are being synchronized. Workaround: Refresh the browser page.

303525

299880

299741

When the Domain shuts down, the catalina.out log file contains multiple messages that are not valid for the shutdown. The messages describe conditions that cause memory leaks. You can ignore these messages. The workflow log displays only the first Notification task recipient that is not valid instead of displaying all recipients that are not valid. When you redeploy an updated application that contains a workflow, the Monitoring tab clears the monitoring history of previous runs of the workflow. The task order that appears when you monitor a workflow instance differs from the task order defined in the workflow. You cannot provide a relative path in the infacmd oie exportObjects command when you export objects from the Model repository. The Data Integration Service grid cannot distribute workflow tasks and profiling jobs across multiple nodes unless you enable the Mapping Service Module for the Data Integration Service. Workaround: In Informatica Administrator, enable the Mapping Service Module for the Data Integration Service that runs on the grid.

If you test an ODBC connection, but you did not configure valid values for the $ODBCHOME and $ODBCINI environment variables, the following error appears:
[[DataDirect][ODBC lib] Data source name not found and no default driver specified]

Workaround: Verify the ODBC installation directory in the $ODBCHome environment variable. Verify that the ODBC.ini file exists in the ODBC6.1 directory, which is specified in the $ODBCINI environment variable. And, verify that the ODBC.ini file contains an entry for the ODBC connection that you are trying to test. 293234 When a service associated with a worker node terminates unexpectedly, users that subscribe to an alert message do not receive the alert. No log message appears in Informatica Administrator. A workflow Notification task logs an unexpected or internal error message when SMTP authentication is incorrectly configured for the Data Integration Service.

IN_RLN_95000_0002

CR 292536 286436

Description The Analyst Service staging database field displays SAP connections. When you run large jobs, such as a profile on 100 tables, the Monitoring tab of the Administrator tool shows a script error. Workaround: Close the error to continue running the job.

280882

PowerCenter and Metadata Manager reports have the following issues in JasperReports Server: - The Top 10 Session with Rejected Rows (Yesterday) and Top 5 Session Error Messages reports do not provide correct information when the data source is on a Sybase repository. - You cannot run PowerCenter dashboards when the data source is on IBM DB2 version 9.1. - You cannot launch lineage from Metadata Manager reports. If you do not perform any activity in the Administrator tool for a while, an "Unknown" message appears. Workaround: Close the message, and then the session expires.

280445

277849

No error appears if you do not specify the required code page when you create a Data Integration Service grid. Workaround: Specify the code page.

273585

If you incorrectly install IBM DB2 client on a Windows 64-bit machine that runs Informatica Services and perform a data preview on an IBM DB2 table, the Java Platform SE binary stops working and the Data Integration Service shuts down unexpectedly. Workaround: Reinstall IBM DB2 client correctly.

272366 271853

The security domains do not appear when you view the assignments of a custom role. After you configure LDAP and synchronize the users, you cannot view user properties. Workaround: Refresh the browser.

267051 264046

Cannot access the Reporting and Dashboards Service after you change the node when you edit the service. When you click the monitoring statistics hyperlink in the Monitoring tab of the Administrator tool, the window does not show all jobs by default. Workaround: To view all jobs, remove the default filter on the list of jobs.

260103

Pushdown optimization is disabled for Microsoft SQL Server sources that contain ntext or text fields with precision that exceeds 4000 characters. The Data Object Cache Manager cannot cache a logical data object or virtual table if the object contains a date/time column and the cache database is a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database. infacmd CreateConnection command option values with spaces must be enclosed by single quotes on Windows and UNIX. On UNIX, you must also enclose the command option in double quotes. The License Management Report PDF does not show Unicode characters in domain object names when the master gateway node runs on HP-UX. Workaround: Use the following procedure to add the Unicode font to the Administrator tool: 1. Create a text file called AcUtil.properties and store it in the following installation directory:
<Informatica installation directory>\ services\AdministratorConsole\administrator

258350

236559

198719

For example:
C:\Informatica\9.1.0\services\AdministratorConsole\administrator

2. Add the following properties to the file and specify a Unicode font name:
PDF.Font.Default=<Unicode font name> PDF.Font.MultibyteList=<Unicode font name>

The value for the Unicode font name can be any Unicode font that works on HP-UX. 3. Verify that the master gateway node machine also has the same font installed. 4. Open the licenseUtility.css file under the following installation directory:

IN_RLN_95000_0002

CR

Description
<Informatica installation directory>\services\AdministratorConsole\administrator\css

5. Add the Unicode font name to all occurrences of "font-family" in the licenseUtility.css file. 6. Restart the domain.

PowerCenter
PowerCenter Closed Enhancements
CR 285156 284821 Description You can use the Design API to write to an SAP target. You can use the Design API to connect to nonrelational data sources and targets such as Adabas, IDMS, and Datacom.

PowerCenter Fixed Limitations

Review the Release Notes of previous releases for information about previous fixed limitations.
CR 301889 Description The session fails with an error when the target definition has varchar2 as one of the output port for an nvarchar port in an Oracle database. Concurrent workflows scheduled to run on PowerCenter Integration Service initialization do not run as scheduled. The Workflow Monitor shows incorrect schedules for workflows enabled for concurrent execution. The Design API cannot import objects if the temp cache folder is empty. Real-time web service requests randomly time out when the PowerCenter Repository database is temporarily inaccessible. The External Procedure transformation fails abruptly at the SysFreeString function on a Windows 64-bit operating system. Bulk load session fails when you load null values into columns of text datatype in a Sybase target. Incorrect memory calculation occurs on Windows 64-bit and the following message appears: TM_6970 The DTM estimates that
one of its buffer pools requires [number of bytes] bytes to run, but this amount of memory cannot be allocated on a 32 bit platform. Please try to manually specify the size from the Workflow Manager.

The repository user with the Workflow Manager privilege can assign the PowerCenter Integration Service to a workflow even without the read or write permissions on the folder. Data gets corrupted when a JAVA transformation with the generaterow function has zero as the input value for any of the ports. The PowerCenter Repository Service shuts down instead of generating an error when you run the pmrep CreateFolder command without a folder name.

293840 293312

IN_RLN_95000_0002

CR 292372

Description One of the following issues might occur when you assign the Integration Service to a workflow: - The Assign Integration Service dialog box disappears. - The assignment does not complete.

290746 290490 289554 289551 289041 286071

The Router transformation on AIX can send rows to an incorrect group if the router condition contains user-defined functions. The PowerCenter Integration Service shuts down due to an assert in workflowmgr.cpp (line # 1862). The xml file generated by the Design API for a very large workflow cannot be used in a command line program such as pmrep. The Design API does not correctly return the target load order when fetched by target name. The workflows and sessions save log by timestamp instead of runs when the workflows are enabled for concurrent execution. Non-reusable transformations are not checked in when you check in a mapping created with the slowly changing dimensions wizard. The Integration Service uses a case-sensitive string comparison when the Joiner transformation is configured to use a caseinsensitive comparison. Session with an abort function hangs instead of aborting the session. The Design API does not correctly return the target load order when fetched by target name. Tasks are not dispatched to the worker node when the PowerCenter Integration Service attaches the node that was previously temporarily detached from the domain. You cannot use the Design API to import source tables with a hyphen (-) in the source name. Expression data masking fails if the data contains single quotes and the column is configured for repeatable masking. If the session is enabled for session on grid, then the session fails on Windows 2008 R2. The Design API generates an XML file for a Teradata source with the wrong precision and scale for timestamp fields. Code page list is not available on Windows 2008 for flat file or cobol import. The PowerCenter Integration Service shuts down due to an assert in archhelper.cpp (line # 54). Session fails when named pipes are used as source. The Design API does not generate a valid XML file for a mapplet that contains a Lookup transformation with a Return type field. The PowerCenter Integration Service truncates data after the decimal point while reading numeric data with high precision (wider than 15 digits) from IBM DB2 9.7.x table in a non-English locale. The print statements in the Stored Procedure transformation are not captured in the session log for the DWsqls24.so driver with Microsoft SQL Server 2008. Some flat file properties such as ROW_DELIMITER are not available in the Design API. Session fails when the source file directory is /dev and the source file name is null for all the partitions except the first partition. Mapping variables do not reset in the PowerCenter Workflow Manager for the workflows enabled for concurrent execution.

PowerCenter Known Limitations

CR 305943 Description The PowerCenter Integration Service creates an XML target with a different name when you use an FTP connection without setting the default location. Object import fails with the pmrep objectimport command when you import the export file from the previous release for a web services provider source. After warm start, the session log messages from the previous session failures are missing in the current session log. If datetime2 port value is NULL, then the session log displays incorrect value for the SQL transformation query. The scheduler schedules the workflow runs differently on Windows and UNIX at DST end time. Partitioned sessions using Sybase ODBC connection fails to load data to the target on z/Linux 6.1 operating system. Workaround: Use the passthrough partitioning and select the SQL Filter session property on the mapping tab. Session fails on z/Linux 6.1 operating system on loading data, when the hash-key or round-robin partitioning schemes are used with the Informix ODBC connection. Workaround: Use partitioning schemes other than hash-partitioning or round-robin to improve the session performance. 303436 If you select the truncate target table for DB2 target and the sessions have the DB2 native connection, then the session fails on z/ Linux 6.1 operating system. You cannot use the Design API to create a nonrelational data source such as Adabas, IDMS, or Datacom with a source name that contains a hyphen (-). Sendmail stops responding and remains in the same state on a SUSE Linux (64-bit) system when many workflows with the email task run simultaneously. A DIAG [IM003] error occurs when you use the PowerCenter Designer to query an SQL data service and the Informatica Data Services ODBC driver 9.5 is installed. Workaround: Install the Informatica Data Services OBDC Driver for PowerCenter. 294745 294622 Performance degradation found in SQL server datetime2 in both source and target for native connectivity. When you import a shortcut object and try to replace the object, then the shortcut does not get replaced and the import fails with an error. Pmcmd commands, such as StartWorkflow, are inconsistent after you apply the infacmd disableuser and the removeuser commands. The session fails if a Microsoft SQL Server stored procedure has an input only port. Workaround: Change the input only port in the Microsoft SQL Server stored procedure definition to an output port. 292163 The Stored Procedure transformation returns truncated value or rejects rows when using a Microsoft SQL Server stored procedure with datetime2 output port in a mapping. Workaround: If the datetime2 port has precision as 7 or 0 in the Microsoft SQL Server stored procedure, change the datatype of datetime2 port to String with precision as 29. On the Config Object tab, change the date time format of the session to the format, YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS.NS. 291772 The SQL transformation generates an error while inserting or updating datetime values in the Microsoft SQL Server. Workaround: Change the native type of the datetime port to varchar with precision as 23. 291343 Deadlock occurs on OPB_WFLOW_RUN table when a large number of workflows run concurrently.

When the PowerCenter Integration Service is on Grid with the worker node as PowerCenter Integration Service master, and the operating system profile is enabled, then the workflow or session recovery fails. If you configure substitution masking with unique output and a lookup condition, the Data Masking transformation might return unexpected results for datetime values. If you configure expression masking for datetime values, the Data Masking transformation does not store dictionary values for repeatable output. When you export a mapping that applies substitution masking to datetime values, you cannot apply dependent masking to shuffle the values if you remove the CONDITIONCOLUMN value. When you configure Social Insurance Number masking, you can enter start digit values that are not valid. Nonunique substitution masking fails with an exception if you select a dictionary file with fewer than five unique values. You cannot use the Design API to create a shortcut to a Netezza data source. Range partition is incorrectly defined for datetime2 values. The seventh fractional digit gets truncated for a datetime2 port of the target instance in the Debugger. You cannot use the Design API to fetch shortcuts from a mapplet. If you use the Design API to create a shortcut to a transformation, you cannot import the shortcut into PowerCenter. When comparing folders during deployment, a Windows dialog box incorrectly displays an error that the Repository Manager is unable to respond. The Web Services Report for a secure Web Services Hub does not display correctly after a certificate is added. Workaround: To run the Web Services Report for a secure Web Services Hub, you must import the SSL certificate of the node that hosts the Web Services Hub to the Java truststore on all the gateway nodes. The Java truststore is named cacerts and is located in the INFA_HOME/java/lib/security directory. After you add the certificate to cacerts, restart the domain. If you do not restart the domain, the Administrator tool does not correctly display the Web Services Report for the secure Web Services Hub.

Data values of other data types or other precisions are not shown. You can use the advanced options on a probabilistic model to delete or rename the map property. If you change the map property, the probabilistic model fails to compile. Microsoft SQL Server sources with a datetime2 datatype fail to import from PowerCenter. You cannot create user-defined parameters in reusable Aggregator, Joiner, Rank, and Sorter transformations. When you import a Source Qualifier transformation from PowerCenter, the import process does not preserve the tracing level for the Source Qualifier transformation. If you run both overlap profile and foreign key profile on a data source with all column datatypes that are not supported, the Developer tool generates an error. If you import a profile after you export it along with data domain glossary, the Developer tool does not import the data domains. Workaround: Import the data domain glossary before you import the exported profile.

A web service mapping fails with an XPath error when you create a Web Service transformation and a group name or a field name contains characters that are not valid in an NCName element type. When you run a profile model with a few data sources, the Data Integration Service log file does not correctly display the date and time format and run-time status of the profile model. The Overview tab on a reference table does not list column names or options to update the columns. When you view the column relationships after enterprise discovery, the Developer tool does not display the order of the primary key and foreign key relationships accurately if the following conditions are true: 1. You run enterprise discovery for a few data objects. 2. You import another data object and add to the model. 3. Open the foreign key profile task and add the imported data object to the task. 4. Run the foreign key profile task and open it to view the column relationships. If you run a profile on a data source that has datetime columns, the format of date and time values in exported drill-down results does not match the format of column profile drill-down results for datetime columns. The Data Integration Service experiences memory leaks and stops unexpectedly when a web service provider mapping encounters a fault. The Char or Varchar precision of a column is four times the actual precision when the following conditions are true: - You use Char semantics to define the column size of a column of the Char or Varchar2 datatype. - The NLS_CHARACTERSET is set to AL32UTF8. - The schema name contains no special characters. When you create a probabilistic model from a data source, the probabilistic model adds space and tab delimiters to the set of delimiters you select. This issue is observed when you clear the space and tab delimiter options. If you edit the default overflow column name in a probabilistic model and add the probabilistic model to a Parser transformation, the transformation creates additional output ports. In this case, the transformation creates ports for both the default overflow column name and the edited overflow column name. Workaround: Select the probabilistic model and click Edit, then Advanced. Click OK in the advanced property editor. Save and compile the probabilistic model. You do not need to edit the advanced properties.

Workaround: Complete the following steps: 1. Delete the link between the Web Service Consumer Transformation input port and the Request node in the operation input. 2. Map an input port to the Key_Request node. 3. Right-click an input port and choose the option to map as XML. 271430 If you create a Consolidation transformation in an earlier version of Data Quality and upgrade to Data Quality 9.1.0 HotFix 2, the cache size setting for the transformation changes to 0 bytes. You add multiple character sets with label overrides to a Labeler transformation 2. You delete one of the character sets from the parent content set 3. You disconnect and reconnect to the Model repository Importing a mapping with an unmanaged reference table does not report an error if no connection exists for the reference table database. Mapping hangs on Solaris and the Data Integration Service shuts down unexpectedly if you enable Truncate Target Table for a Teradata target. The primary key and functional dependency inference results on columns with null values may vary depending on whether you just run the profile or validate the profile results. This variance occurs because inference is based on the summary of null values whereas validation displays all the records. If you apply an active filter to a profile after you run the profile without any filters, the drilldown results may not be accurate. Workaround: After you set the active filter, run the profile again before you drill down on a column. 258133 The load time for the Match transformation Analysis view increases significantly if the advanced profiling property "Maximum # Value Frequency Pairs" is set to a large number such as 1,600,000. infacmd ps dropWH command does not remove the content on a trusted connection from the profiling warehouse. Workaround: Use the Administrator tool to drop the profiling warehouse database content. 257609 Mappings that contain a logical data object cannot be exported to PowerCenter if the logical data object uses a physical data object as a source and the logical data object also contains a customized data object that is created from the physical data object.

When you preview a relational data object, the session load summary in the log file does not list the rows rejected while reading data from the database as rejected rows. When the Data Integration Service filters or performs a lookup on char datatypes, the Data Integration Service uses varchar semantics and therefore it does not ignore trailing spaces for the following types of mappings: - A mapping with a relational Lookup transformation - A mapping that is not optimized and includes a logical data object Lookup transformation - A mapping that is optimized and includes a logical data object Lookup transformation that contains a relational read mapping without a pipeline - A mapping with filter transformation logic that cannot be pushed down to the source A Data Integration Service proxy server that uses HTTP 1.0 returns an error if the HTTP server and client use HTTP 1.1 and the SOAP request size is greater than 1024 bytes. If you delete a reference table object from a project folder in the Developer tool or Analyst Tool, the reference table data remains in the staging database. The Developer tool cannot find a reference table that is specified in a parameter path if the path contains a forward slash separator. The Developer tool may consume unexpected amounts of memory if you open a reference table multiple times in succession.
