Re: ANNOUNCEMENT, EAST AFRICAN AND BRITISH SCHOOL OF PATHOLOGY DERMATOPATHOLOGY, 12-14 AUGUST 2013, SCHOOL OF MEDICINE, UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI, KENYA. I am pleased to announce that the Annual East African and British School of Pathology (EABSoP) scheduled for the 12-14 August 2013 hosted by the School of Medicine, University of Nairobi, Kenya. This will be a comprehensive review of Dermatopathology with faculty comprising of Prof Eduardo Calonje, Prof Wayne Grayson and Dr Lynne Jamieson. Appended below is the program. This is an initiative of The East African Division of the International Academy of Pathologists (EADIAP) in conjunction with the British Division of the International Academy of Pathology (BDIAP). The aim of this program is to strengthen diagnostic capacity, promote intra and inter specialty consultation and collaborative research in skin pathology and therapeutics. The intended audiences are Specialists and Trainees in Pathology, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Surgery, Gynaecology, Dermatology, Immunology, Infectious Disease, Medical Students, Laboratory Scientists and any other Health Care Worker interested in the diagnosis, treatment or research within the field of dermatology. Prospective participants should kindly fill the attached registration form and submit it as soon as possible. The registration fee is 50 US Dollars for EADIAP members and 65 US Dollars for non members. Limited sponsorship is available. Those interested in sponsorship should fill the attached registration form, and this must be submitted by email to edwin.walong@uonbi.ac.ke and ahmed.kalebi@lancet.co.ke by the 15th July 2013. This is an accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accredited event. Your Participation in this Workshop is highly encouraged.

ABOUT THE FACULTY 1. Prof Eduardo Calonje is the current Director of Diagnostic Dermatopathology at St Johns Institute of Dermatology, London since 1996. He is a member of the WHO consensus group for the classification of cutaneous and soft tissue neoplasms. He underwent training in General Pathology in Colombia and subsequent subspecialty training in Dermatopathology in Cardiff, Wales and St Louis Missouri,USA. In 1990, he received dermatology training at St Thomas Hospital,1990 and research fellowships in Soft Tissue Tumours. Prof Eduado Calonje has over 100 publications in peer reviewed journals, contributed to chapters in Lever s Histopathology of the Skin, Rooks Textbook of Dermatology, Fletchers Diagnostic Histopathology of Tumours. He is the Co-Editor in McKees 3rd Edition of Pathology of the Skin with Clinical Correlations. 2. Prof Wayne Grayson is a Consultant Dermatopathologist at Ampath National Laboratories and Honorary Associate Professor in the School of Pathology of the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. He received his training in Anatomical Pathology at this University and the South African Institute for Medical Research, obtaining the FCPath (SA) in 1995. In 2001 he was awarded a PhD. He headed the Dermatopathology service and later the Molecular Pathology laboratory in the Division of Anatomical Pathology of the University of the Witwatersrand and the National Health Laboratory Service before entering private practice in 2008. Specific areas of interest include infectious diseases of the skin, HIV/AIDS-related skin diseases and Kaposi sarcoma. He is the author of the chapter on infectious diseases of the skin in the fourth edition of McKees Pathology of the Skin with Clinical Correlations and the co-author of the chapter on HIV/AIDS-associated cutaneous diseases in the same publication. He is a member of the International Society of Dermatopathology, Course Director of the annual Johannesburg Dermatopathology Symposium and was the co-convenor of the Dermatopathology programme of the 2012 International Congress of the I.A.P. in Cape Town. He remains actively involved in postgraduate teaching and serves as an examiner for the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. 3. Dr Lynne Jamieson is a Consultant Dermatopathologist, Department of Cellular Pathology
Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. She is a member of the Royal College of Pathologists of England. She is involved in the development of the college based quality assurance schemes in the United Kingdom.
