NATURAL BOTANICAL EXTRACTS
Carrubba produces over 500 different botanical extracts specifically formulated for
use in cosmetics, toiletries, skin care, bath and hair care products. Our more than
twenty five years of manufacturing botanical extracts makes us one of the most
experienced and knowledgeable U.S. suppliers. This superior level of expertise
comes with every sample and production shipment.
Custom
Formulation: Carrubba produces both water and oil soluble extracts in a variety
of solvent systems.
Technical
Service: Our experienced and creative technical staff works with you to
select an extract or develop an extract blend best for your product.
Whether you need botanicals for a shampoo or a skin moisturizer,
let us suggest the most appropriate botanicals.
Aromatic Extracts: Our line of natural aromatic extracts are useful for imparting a
pleasing natural aroma to finished products; they are “fragrance-
free”. Aromatic extracts can be combined into blends to become
more complex and distinctive. They are also useful for masking
base notes without the use of fragrance.
Certified
Organic Extracts: The certified organic process based management system defines
standards, practices and materials for manufacturing botanical
extracts. Certified organic botanical extracts support sustainable
agricultural practices that exclude pesticides, genetically modified
plants, and synthetic substances (unless specifically reviewed and
allowed by the National List Provisions)

Unless specifically reviewed and allowed under the National List
Provision
Plants are gathered from their natural, wild habitats, often from
pristine areas.
Care is taken to only remove a few plants, flowers, or branches,
so plenty remains to continue the supply.
Harvesters must designate the area they are harvesting, and
provide a three-year history of the area that shows no
prohibited substances have been applied there.
A harvesting plan must demonstrate the harvest will sustain the
wild crop.

ENERGIZING BOTANICAL EXTRACTS
Thalassotherapy is the ancient art which employs sea water and sea plants for
therapeutic purposes. Sea water therapy has been used in Europe as a natural remedy
to treat not only digestive, circulatory and arthritic conditions, but also to improve skin
complexion. Marine botanicals, primarily from some of the thousands of species of
seaweed, contain the same minerals and trace elements as sea water, but in higher
concentrations, and with added vitamins, many of which are anti oxidants.

Mucilage of acacia is used as a soothing agent for inflamed areas. Aboriginal tribes use
Acacia for many cures such as headaches, sore gums, digestion, and nose bleeds.
Gum Acacia (Acacia nilotica and Acacia senegal) is highly nutritious. During the time of
the gum harvest, the Moors of the desert are said to live almost entirely on it.
ACAI EXTRACT
Plant
Description: Acai palms are tall slender attractive
palms growing to 15-30 m tall, with
pinnate leaves up to 3 m long and small,
round, black-purple fruit with a single
large seed about 7–10 mm in diameter.
Acai berry is considered to be one of the top superfoods in the world. Grown from a
palm tree in the Amazon rainforest, the natives of Brazil call it “the tree of life”. The
unique nutritional composition of acia berries offer anti-aging benefits as they help
protect the body from free radicals and inflammation. The berries have twice the
antioxidant capacity of blueberries, with powerful anthocyanins that maintain the body’s
vascular cardiac system for better blood circulation, as well as help strengthen capillary
walls to restore skins’ radiant look and feel.
AGAVE EXTRACT
In Indian traditional medicine, the fresh juice of this plant is regarded as a good
external application to bruises and contusions. The Aztecs and Maya were very
skilled in wound healing, they used the agave sap, often with egg white, to bind
powders and gums in pastes and poultices to be applied to wounds. An extract of
the leaves lathers like soap.
ALFALFA EXTRACT
Also called Lucerne, Alfalfa is highly nutritive and has a high degree of chlorophyll for
cleansing and purifying hair and body, inside and out. A high protein content also makes
Alfalfa perfect for conditioning.
“High in vitamin K, A, D and minerals. Good for conditioning and strengthening the
hair.” All about Hair, www.geocities.com
ALMOND EXTRACT
“Ground Almonds or Almond Meal is high in skin–loving nutrients and fat. Used as a
facial and body scrub base to gently exfoliate rough, dry skin. “
Source of: Amygdalin, Protein
Applications: Exfoliate
Primary Uses: Skin Care
“Almond Oil is a clear to very pale oil pressed from sweet almond seeds (kernels). Full
