OBJECTIVE
PHASE I
To develop a Feature Level Fusion framework to simultaneously protect multiple traits of an user as a single sketch. To propose an extraction and fusion algorithm so as to reduce the computational complexity, processing time and storage capacity. To evaluate the various performance parameters of the proposed system.

INTRODUCTION
BIOMETRIC Biometrics is the science of recognizing the identity of a person based on the physical or behavioral attributes of the individual such as face, fingerprints, voice, iris, etc. Biometrics offers certain advantages such as negative recognition and non-repudiation that cannot be provided by tokens and passwords.

UNIMODAL SYSTEMS Uni-modal system uses single biometric trait such as finger print, iris, and palm print for authentication and verification.
LIMITATIONS

Uni-modal systems which use single biometric trait has certain limitations like noise in sensed data, non universality, spoof attack, etc.

MULTIBIOMETRICS
Fusion of multiple traits of an individual, or multiple feature extraction and matching algorithms operating on the same biometric is known as multibiometric systems
ADVANTAGES

Lower error rates Larger population coverage. Better matching accuracy Deterring spoofing attack Increased Security

PHASE I

EXISTING SYSTEMS
SYSTEM LIMITATIONS

Secure biometric templates from finger printface features ~Sutcu et al (June2007)

Point-set based representation was not addressed.

Muti biometric template security using Segment wise classification. fuzzy vault ~Nandakumar & Jain(Sept. 2008)

Multi Algorithm fusion with template Different templates are not protection secured individually. ~Kelkboom et al(Sept.2009)
Multibiometric cryptosystem:model, structure and performance ~ Fu et al (Dec.2009) Based on homogeneous template security.

PROPOSED METHOD
A generic frame work for the design of multibiometric system with heterogeneous templates is proposed. Implementation of issues in both binary string and point set based representation.

PHASE- I SCHEDULE
WORK COMPLETED
Literature survey on Multibiometric system was done.

Different algorithms and their limitations were analyzed and benchmarked.

A novel scheme for feature level fusion technique is suggested.

WORK TO BE COMPLETED
MODULE 1 :Study of feature extraction algorithm and to develop fusion algorithm for multibiometric traits.

MODULE 2 :Conversion of template into secure sketch.

MODULE 3 :Testing the authentication of the user.

PHASE- II SCHEDULE
To develop a protocol that generates and shares session keys which are valid for only one communication session .
