Romans 10:9-10 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. __________________________________________________________________

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I prayed about this and God showed me five things we need to do in order to have a relationship with God (reading the Bible is also important). When you have a relationship with God, you know Gods name.

God showed me that we need to:

Below are the 5 points along with some corresponding scripture verses. __________________________________________

Psalm 33:20-22 20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield. 21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. 22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

See also: Psalm 37:34, Lamentations 3:25, Psalm 27:14 Note: When we wait on God, we are waiting for Gods answer and are trusting in Him. __________________________________________

Psalm 9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Matthew 7:7-8 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

See also: Psalm 53:2, Matthew 6:33 Note: When you seek God, you are depending on Him and not on yourself (see Proverbs 3:5-6). You are wanting to get to know God better and are seeking His will and not yours. __________________________________________

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. Jeremiah 17:5 Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord. See Also: Psalm 9:10, Hebrews 11:6, Proverbs 30:5, Isaiah 26:3, Psalm 32:10

Note: When you trust God, you are looking to Him and fully depending on Him. Your trust is not in man at all, but in God (see Jeremiah 17:5). __________________________________________

1 John 2:3-4 3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. Job 36:11 11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. See also: Acts 5:29, 2 Corinthians 10:5, 2 John 1:6, Ephesians 6:6 Note: When we obey God we are pleasing Him. Obedience is better than sacrifice because those who obey God shall be rewarded. Also, those who obey God know God (see 1 John 2:3). Those who do not obey God do not know God (see 1 John 2:4). __________________________________________

John 8:47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God. Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. John 10:27-28 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. John 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

See also: John 10:27-28, Proverbs 19:20, Acts 7:51, Hebrews 4:7, Revelation 3:20, Revelation 3:22, Ezekiel 33:30-32, Luke 10:16, John 16:7-11 Note: When you listen to God, you are waiting on God and listening to His clear voice. God may speak in a still small voice and you must be willing to wait for it. Listen also to Gods clear conviction and do not harden your heart against what God is showing you (Hebrews 3:12-15). God can speak to you through (1) what you read, (2) by the Holy Spirit, and by (3) His still small voice (see 1 Kings 19:11-13). ______________________________________________

First, make sure your heart is right with God and that you do not have any unrepentant sin that comes between you and God. Second, be patient and wait for Gods answer. God may speak to you in a still small voice and you need to listen for it. Third, test what you are hearing according to the test of the spirits found in 1 John 4:1-4. Gods Spirit will always tell you that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, while an evil spirit will deny that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. One important point to mention regarding John 10:28: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. This does not mean that we cannot leave Jesus, if we choose to. We can reject Christ. Only those who continue in Gods goodness shall be Jesus Christs sheep (see Romans 11:21-22). Many, many times in both the Old and New Testament, God warns us to abide in Him and not rebel against Him. See Hebrews 3:12-15 and Hebrews 10:29. Hebrews 3:12-15 12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; 15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as

in the provocation.

Hebrews 10:28-31 28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. ___________________________________________________ The following verses are just some of the many verses about how you can reject Christ, forsake God, and be lost: Hebrews 10:28-31, Hebrews 3:7-19 (see verse 14), Romans 11:17-22, Hebrews 6:4-8, Matthew 12:22-37, 1 John 2:24, Ezekiel 3:20, Ezekiel 18:24, 2 Peter 2:20-22, Hebrews 10:28-31, Matthew 5:29-30, 2 Chronicles 15:2, Mark 11:26, Matthew 18:34-35, Matthew 10:28, Matthew 10:32-33, Mark 13:13, Romans 6:15-16, Mark 4:1-25. May God show you the truth as you seek Him with your whole heart (Jeremiah 29:13). Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
