CONSCIOUSNESS PLAYGROUND RECORDING TRANSCRIPT THE ONE WORD THAT RELIEVES SUFFERING By Wendy Down, M.Ed.

June 18, 2013

Hi there. This is Wendy Down with your Consciousness Playground recording for Tuesday, June the 18th, 2013. [Find the recording here.] This recording is called "The One Word that Relieves Suffering". And on this recording I want to show you how this single word encapsulates the essence of what creates suffering and even physical pain in human experience, so that you can recognize how large a role this word has been playing in your life up until now. And you can choose, as you listen to this recording, to let go of its place in your life. The cool thing about working with one word is that a word simply is a short form for a vast eld of information and of history. That word, any word really, when we hear it we understand it mentally. It means something to us. But it also reverberates in us emotionally. It has a physical translation. The vibration of the meaning of the word is held within the cells of our body in a particular way. It has a presence in our collective consciousness. And so it's very, it's wonderful to have just a simple access point through one word to that entire world of inuence in your life and my life.

Once we identify a word, we can work with it mentally. And so when I tell you this word, suddenly you may notice how often you say it to yourself and you may choose to say it differently or use a different word. We can work with it emotionally. We can notice how that word feels in our bodies. And if we have a technique for changing the way we feel or releasing old energetic or emotional patterns we can use the word to change that and notice how the word feels differently in our emotional systems. We can, and this is the most interesting part of this recording I think, we can notice how, or we can make a link between how that word translates into our physical bodies. And this one in particular holds in place or creates the foundation for a lot of suffering and physical pain. And so one of the most exciting things that you can look for after working with this recording, is to see how your body feels differently and whether physical pain and suffering is lessened for you afterwards or whether you can use this word to release physical pain and suffering that you have. Or even to share it with other people and allow them to do the same for themselves. So let's get right into it. I know you want to know what the word is. And the word that relieves suffering, is the word "should". Actually, a better way of saying it is that the one word that causes suffering or the most suffering is the word "should".

"Should". As we are going to talk about this now, another thing that's really interesting is some recent science that's coming out that demonstrates or that seems to indicate that the attitudes and beliefs and stresses that our ancestors lived under, (our parents, our grandparents) switches on particular genes or habits physically, emotionally - in us. And so when you think about how much previous generations lived by the idea that "You should do this" or "You have to do that" or "duty" was so important, you can start to understand how much of the nature of the word "should" is actually embedded or switched on in ourselves. The notion that we should or have to do certain things is just so ingrained in us. So there has probably never, for many of us, ever been a moment that we were a human being without the presence of the eld and energy and pressure of the concept "you should", "you should be different", "you should be more", "you should not be like that", 'you should on every level. On this recording we want to isolate that, the eld of energy, that inuence, to be able to separate it out and recognize that it is a stand-alone eld. It's a stand-alone electro-magnetic charge, that when it reverberates through you and I it expresses itself in terms, on all different levels. It's possible, when we can isolate something like that which is not [a natural] part of our nature, then we can consciously release what we unconsciously picked up and for the rst time in our lives feel what it is like to be us without the presence of that unconscious inuence. And that's what I want to offer today. The opportunity to start to play with, to whatever degree you are willing, interested or able, to be free of the inuence, physically, emotionally, energetically, mentally, from the word and the eld of energy that's encapsulated by the word "should".

So the place I want to go next is right to the physical body, because we're in the Consciousness Playground and for me in particular playing with that a lot these days and working with the energy of tissue and watching it morph and working from a distance with bodies in my Remote Sessions with Ken Graydon. There's tremendous inuence we can have over our physical structure and actually those of others as well. It came to my awareness recently that one of the fundamental verses that create pain, suffering and disease is the energy of this word "should". So let's start right there. To the best of your ability bring to mind something, I don't know, when you think about a phrase like "Oh, you should....". In that sentence in some way "You should...", "You should...". For most of us that will end as a criticism. The energy of should implies that we should be different. We should have done something. We should do something. There is an implicit judgment that we are fundamentally wrong to be the way that we are. That somehow we have to make an effort to overpower the aw or the failing that we are intrinsically, enforce ourselves to be something different. This is the fundamental nature of where "should" stems from or stands for. And so as you recognize particular situations in which you try and force yourself to be different than you naturally are, or you criticize yourself for being the way

you would naturally be, you can bring into awareness, just the tip of the iceberg of this entire huge eld or force that's been so compelling and so intrinsically a part of human society for thousands and thousands of years. Then just to the best of your ability let the presence of that inuence, that eld of energy come into your awareness, either as a feeling in your body or just some recognition. And next I want you to, or I invite you to link it to your physical body. The word 'should' when it runs through your mind sounds a certain way. It has a certain tone to it. When it runs through your emotions that same energy feels a certain way. As I said, it can feel like criticism. When it runs through your physical body, it feels like suffering. The energy eld of the word "should" in the body translates as suffering. And so if you're suffering in any way, you have pain in any way, discomfort in any way, recognize it for the rst time as the physical representation of the energy of the word "should". I am going to give you a few minutes at the end of this recording just to sit in silence, in a eld that is free of the word "should", so that you can feel how different it feels to be "should"-free. Because it's more natural to you to be free of the inuence of this powerful eld of "should", of "should"-ing on yourself. And after you've worked with this recording and just sat quietly, allowing the inuence of the word 'should' to disentangle itself from you, because you allow yourself to no longer be an energetic match for that whole way of thinking, way of feeling and way of suffering. You open up to a whole new way of being, in your body, in your emotions, in your mind and in the choices you make.

Afterwards you'll suddenly notice how often this word "should" has made your decisions for you, has formed the content of your thoughts about yourself and has played itself out in the physical structure of your cells and of your body. And afterwards, what you'll notice is, a bit of a gap of awareness, that whereas before you would have done things, made choices, based on the idea or the pressure that you 'should' do this or you 'should' not do that. Suddenly you'll have an awareness of yourself going in that direction, responding to that inuence and you'll be able to have the choice; either to continue on and take the action or perhaps for the rst time ever to do something else, to not follow the inclination to do or not do or be or not be something, because of "should". As far as I can see, being free of the inuence of the word "should", has a potential to relieve more suffering on every level than any other single word I know. And I invite you to try it out in your life and let me know what you notice. And now I'll be quiet till the end of the recording and just let you sit in a completely "should"-free space. Bye for now. Wendy
