US GVMT does not trust what the troops may decide to do if they learn how the gvmt spies on them and their families and all the rest of us. The censorship effort of members of the armed services, reported in this essay, is akin to what all dictatorial and oppressive gvmts try to do. Keep information from its own people so as to better dupe them into supporting policies that are not in their, their families and their own class interests but instead in the interests of the elites, the 1%. Americas so called enemies can visit the censored sites but our soldiers cannot and thus they will not know what their so-called enemies can learn by visiting the censored site. Not only wont this censorship work but it will generate blowback. US gvmt censoring of information shows that the gvmt considers informed military members and informed Americans to be an enemy. Presidio employees said the site had been blocked since The Guardian broke stories on data collection by the National Security Agency.

Gordon Van Vleet, an Arizona-based spokesman for the Army Network Enterprise Technology Command, or NETCOM, said in an email the Army is filtering some access to press coverage and online content about the NSA leaks. He wrote it is routine for the Department of Defense to take preventative network hygiene measures to mitigate unauthorized disclosures of classified information. We make every effort to balance the need to preserve information access with operational security, he wrote, however, there are strict policies and directives in place regarding protecting and handling classified information. In a later phone call, Van Vleet said the filter of classified information on public websites was Armywide and did not originate at the Presidio. Presidio employees described how they could access the U.S. site, www.guardiannews.com, but were blocked from articles, such as those about the NSA, that redirected to the British site. Sources at the Presidio said Jose Campos, the post's information assurance security officer, sent an email to employees early Thursday saying The Guardian's website was blocked by Army Cyber Command in order to prevent an unauthorized disclosure of classified information. NETCOM is a subordinate to the Army Cyber Command, based in Fort Belvoir, Va., said its website. Campos wrote if an employee accidentally downloaded classified information, it would result in labor intensive work, such as the wipe or destruction of the computer's hard drive. He wrote that an employee who downloads classified information could face disciplinary action if found to have knowingly downloaded the material on an unclassified computer. The Guardian's website has classified documents about the NSA's program of monitoring phone records of Verizon customers, a project called Prism which gave the agency direct access to data held by Google, Facebook, Apple and others, and more. The source of the leaks, 29-year-old Edward Snowden, is on the run from American authorities. He is a former contractor for the agency. Van Vleet said the department does not determine what sites its personnel can choose to see on the DOD system, but relies on automated filters that restrict access based on content concerns or malware threats. He said it would not block websites from the American public in general, and to do so would violate our highest-held principle of upholding and defending the Constitution and respecting civil liberties and privacy.

The Guardian declined to comment, but its editor-in-chief, Alan Rusbridger, sent a link to The Herald's story on Twitter.

Manning Wins Round On Wikileaks Helicopter Video

www.bradleymanning Jun. 27, 2013 By David Dishneau, The Associated Press FORT MEADE, MD. Lawyers for Army Pfc. Bradley Manning can offer evidence contradicting the governments assertion that he revealed classified information in a leaked battlefield video from Iraq, a military judge said Thursday. The judge, Army Col. Denise Lind, took judicial notice of the document during Mannings court-martial at Fort Meade in Maryland. Judicial notice is a preliminary step toward admitting evidence. The document is an assessment by a former U.S. Central Command official of video showing a 2007 U.S. helicopter attack in Baghdad that killed at least eight people, including a Reuters news photographer and his driver. His assessment was that the video should be unclassified. That contradicted evidence offered by prosecutors. They have presented an assessment from a Pentagon official that the video revealed military tactics, techniques and procedures. Manning has acknowledged he gave the video to the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks but denied revealing national defense information. Manning is being tried at Forte Meade Army base outside Baltimore on charges including aiding the enemy, which carries a potential life sentence. The developments came as prosecutors were focusing Thursday on U.S. diplomatic cables that Manning has admitted sending to WikiLeaks. The proceedings were continuing during the afternoon.

On Wednesday, a former State Department official testified on cross-examination that the agencys computer network would have given a soldier with Mannings top-secret security clearance unrestricted access to the cables. The government alleges he stole them. The cables included candid and sometimes embarrassing assessments of foreign leaders and governments. State Department officials say the disclosures endangered lives and threatened national security. Manning has said the cables exposed U.S. hypocrisy. His supporters said a leaked cable revealing Americas half-hearted support for Tunisias government helped trigger the Arab Spring uprisings.

June 27, 2013 by Tom Vanden Brook, USA TODAY The Defense Department wants to continue working with contractors to pump propaganda into Afghanistan despite a recent Government Accountability Office report that shows the programs are inadequately tracked, their impact is unclear, and the military doesn't know if it is targeting the right foreign audiences. The military deems the capability so integral to its effort in Afghanistan that it has extended the contract of the Leonie Group, its top private producer of propaganda, according to Air Force Lt. Col. Damien Pickart, a Pentagon spokesman.

The company's co-owner, Camille Chidiac, was suspended for a time last year for admitting that he launched an online smear campaign against USA TODAY. The campaign, which Chidiac said in a letter to the Army, was started by public relations firm he had hired and wasn't his fault. The campaign began after the paper learned that Chidiac and his sister, Rema Dupont, the company's co-owner, owed the federal government $4 million in back taxes. They paid their tax bill, and Chidiac agreed to put his ownership stake in a trust and relinquish management of the company. That satisfied the Pentagon, which dropped its suspension of Chidiac and continues to do business with Leonie. Congress, however, took note of Leonie's tax woes. Rep. Jackie Speier, the California Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, co-sponsored a bill that passed 407-0 in April to prohibit the government from contracting with companies whose owners don't pay their taxes. She told USA TODAY that she had Leonie in mind when she wrote the legislation. The bill, however, would have exempted Chidiac and Dupont because they had entered a payment plan with the IRS. In any event, the Pentagon is taking bids until July 19 for its propaganda enterprise in Afghanistan, known in miltiary-ese as, Military Information Support Operations (MISO). Since 2005, the Pentagon has spent hundreds of million of dollars on MISO. These propaganda efforts include websites, leaflets and broadcasts intended to change foreigners' attitudes and behaviors in support of U.S. Government objectives, according to the GAO. Some of them disclose the U.S. military as the source; others don't. The Pentagon sought to keep the report from public view, but USA TODAY obtained a copy from a source.

With a view to checking the power and the growth of big capital, the democratic party demands a reform of the laws of inheritance and legacies, likewise the transfer of the public services and as many industrial undertakings as possible to the state and municipal authorities. It is a matter of course that in the future sanguinary conflicts, as in all previous ones, the workingmen by their courage, resolution, and self-sacrifice, will form the main force in the attainment of victory. As hitherto, so in the coming struggle, the petty bourgeoisie as a whole will maintain an attitude of delay, irresolution, and inactivity as long as possible, in order that, as soon as victory is assured, they may arrogate it to themselves and call upon the workers to remain quiet, return to work, avoid so-called excesses, and thus to shut off the workers from the fruits of victory.

A Revolutionary Class In A Reactionary War Cannot But Wish For The Defeat Of Its Government
July 26, 1915: On The Defeat of Ones Own Government in the Imperialist War, By Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov: Sotsial-Demokrat No. 43 [Excerpts] A revolutionary class in a reactionary war cannot but wish for the defeat of its government. This is an axiom. It is disputed only by the conscious partisans or the helpless satellites of the social-chauvinists. [T]o the latter belong Trotsky and Bukvoyed; in Germany, Kautsky. To wish Russias defeat, Trotsky says, is an uncalled-for and unjustifiable political concession to the methodology of social-patriotism which substitutes for the revolutionary struggle against the war and the conditions that cause war, an orientation along the lines of the lesser evil, an orientation which, under given conditions, is perfectly arbitrary (Nashe Slovo, No. 105.) This is an example of the inflated phraseology with which Trotsky always justifies opportunism. A revolutionary struggle against the war is an empty and meaningless exclamation, the like of which the heroes of the Second International are past masters in making, unless it means revolutionary actions against ones own government in times of war. A little reasoning suffices to make this clear. When we say revolutionary actions in war time against ones own government, we indisputably mean not only the wish for its defeat, but practical actions leading towards such defeat.

In using phrases to avoid the issue, Trotsky has lost his way amidst very simple surroundings. It seems to him that to wish Russias defeat means to wish Germanys victory. (Bukvoyed and Semkovsky express more directly this thought, or rather, thoughtlessness, which they have in common with Trotsky.) In this Trotsky also repeats the methodology of social-patriotism! To help people that do not know how to think, the Berne resolution (SotsialDemokrat, No. 40) made it clear that in all imperialist countries the proletariat must now wish the defeat of its government. Revolution in war time is civil war. Transformation of war between governments into civil war is, on the one hand, facilitated by military reverses (defeats) of the governments; on the other hand, it is impossible to strive in practice towards such a transformation without at the same time working towards military defeat. The slogan of defeat is so vehemently repudiated by the chauvinists for the very reason that this slogan alone means a consistent appeal to revolutionary action against ones own government in war time. Without such action, millions of the most revolutionary phrases concerning war against war and conditions, etc. are not worth a penny. The tsarist government was perfectly right when it asserted that the propaganda of the Russian Social-Democratic Labor Fraction was the only example in the International of not only parliamentary opposition but of real revolutionary propaganda in the masses against their government, that this propaganda weakened the military power of Russia and aided its defeat. This is a fact. It is not clever to hide from it. The opponents of the defeat slogan are simply afraid of themselves when they do not wish to realize the most obvious fact of the inseparable connection between revolutionary propaganda against the government and actions leading to its defeat. An understanding concerning revolutionary actions within even one single country, not to speak of a number of countries, can be realized only by the force of the example of earnest revolutionary actions, by their being launched, by their development. It is impossible, however, to launch them without wishing the government defeat, and without contributing to such a defeat. The change from imperialist war to civil war cannot be made, as it is impossible to make a revolution - it grows out of the multiplicity of diverse phenomena, phases, traits, characteristics, consequences of the imperialist war. Such growth is impossible without a series of military reverses and defeats of those governments which receive blows from their own oppressed classes.

The only policy of a real, not verbal, breaking of civil peace, of accepting the class struggle, is for the proletariat to take advantage of the difficulties of the government and its bourgeoisie with the aim of overthrowing them. This, however, cannot be achieved, it cannot be striven at, without wishing the defeat of ones own government, without contributing to such a defeat. When, before the war, the Italian Social-Democrats raised the question of a mass strike, the bourgeoisie replied, undoubtedly correctly from its standpoint, that this would be high treason, and that they would be dealt with as traitors. This is true, and it is also true that fraternization in the trenches is high treason. A proletarian cannot help deal his government a class blow; he cannot reach out (in practice) a hand to his brother, the proletarian of the foreign country which is at war with us, without committing high treason, without contributing to the defeat, the dismemberment of his imperialist great power. Let us look at the question from one more angle. The war cannot but call forth among the masses the most stormy feelings which destroy the usual sluggishness of mass psychology. Without adjustment to these new stormy feelings, revolutionary tactics are impossible. What are the main currents of these stormy feelings? (1) Horror and despair. Hence the growth of religious feelings. Once more the churches are full, the reactionaries rejoice. Wherever there are sufferings, there is religion, says the arch-reactionary, Barres. He is right, too. (2) Hatred for the enemy, a feeling carefully fanned by the bourgeoisie (more than by the priests) and of economic and political value only to the bourgeoisie. (3) Hatred for ones own government and ones bourgeoisie - a feeling of all classconscious workers who understand, on the one hand, that war is a continuation of politics on the part of imperialism, which they meet by continuing their hatred for their class enemy; on the other hand, that war against war is a silly phrase if it does not mean revolution against their own government. It is impossible to arouse hatred against ones own government and ones bourgeoisie without wishing their defeat, and it is impossible to be nonhypocritical opponent of civil (class) peace without arousing hatred towards ones own government and bourgeoisie!!!

Army Announces New Occupational Specialties; Includes Decruiters, Clearing Barrel NCO

Fortification enhancement specialists at work. WASHINGTON, D.C.The Army reported the creation of several new Military Occupational Specialties today, seeking to ease the burden on current servicemembers already pulling double- and triple-duty. By spreading some of the workload to these new MOS holders, soldiers like infantrymen or mechanics can focus their efforts completely on their primary tasks and duties. Ultimately, the Army hopes that it can increase the numbers of presence patrols conducted, hours it can dedicate to mentoring coalition forces, shorter vehicle downtime in maintenance shops, and an overall more effective fighting force. 31SChow Bouncer: The Chow Bouncer is a new MOS in the 31 series, reserved for Military Police roles. Duties include supervising entrances to military dining facilities, or DFACs, to ensure that all entering personnel are in appropriate uniform, have their military ID cards, dogtags, a current copy of orders, long-form birth certificates, and a blood sample before eating. Common functions of the Chow Bouncers job will include turning hungry, sometimes belligerent soldiers away for not having their ID cards, or for attempting to wear dirty PTs or personal protective equipment into the mess hall.

As with all 31 series MOS holders, the Chow Bouncer will operate outside the normal rank structure in the performance of his or her duties, and will have unchecked power over all other soldiers in the Army (except Warrant Officers.) 22GFortification Enhancement Specialist: Fortification Enhancement Specialists are responsible for ordering, filling, and deploying the Armys growing array of sandbags. From the standard NSN 8105-00-142-9345 Green sandbags to high-tech, modernized NSN 8105-01-331-3704 Tan sandbags, 22Gs will gain job skills critical to the operation and maintenance of Army bases overseas. Advanced Individual Training (AIT) for this branch will last 23 weeks, and cover the 83 ways to fill sandbags, as well as how to order and use replacement parts for broken sandbags. 92CClearing Barrel NCO: Clearing Barrel NCOs will provide assistance to officers and support-specialty soldiers who find reading explicit directions from a billboard too complicated. The primary role of the 92C is to guide confused soldiers through the appropriate clearing procedures, or replacing the weapon with a tin whistle, in case the soldier becomes endangered in future operations. 89RBrass Recovery Specialist: A new position in the Ordnance Corps, Brass and Ammo Recovery Specialists at home will scour ranges in order to collect and sort spent brass casings leftover from previous training events. When deployed overseas, these soldiers may find themselves attached to patrols and combat operations, closely following the Forward Line of Troops and recovering spent brass under situations of extreme pressure. When at all possible, Brass Recovery Specialists will also be encouraged to collect brass fired by enemy combatants. 79GDecruiter NCO: 79G is a new secondary MOS available to qualified personnel. With Army and National Guard units vastly oversized and facing sweeping budgetary reductions, Decruitment NCOs will specialize in counseling fellow soldiers against reenlistment. Consideration for bonuses will be made for Decruiters who can dissuade Sergeants First Class or above from reenlistment, in an effort to clear the career path for lower enlisted personnel and to save the Army money on future pension payments. Guidance for the new military occupational specialties have already been sent out to soldiers on recruiting duty nationwide.

Carl Bunin Peace History June 28 - July 4 The first GIsknown as the Fort Hood Three, U.S. Army Privates James Johnson, Dennis Mora and David Samasrefused to be sent to Vietnam. All were members of the 142nd Signal Battalion, 2nd Armored Division stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. The three were from working-class families, and had denounced the war as immoral, illegal and unjust. They were arrested, court-martialed and imprisoned. JOINT STATEMENT BY FORT HOOD THREE

The following statement was read to over 40 cameramen, reporters, and antiwar fighters at a press conference in New York on June 30th. The statement was prepared jointly and read by Pvt. Dennis Mora. We are Pfc. James Johnson, Pvt. David Samas, and Pvt. Dennis Mora, three soldiers formerly stationed at Fort Hood, Texas in the same company of the 142 Signal Battalion, 2nd Armored Division. We have received orders to report on the 13th of July at Oakland Army Terminal in California for final processing and shipment to Vietnam.

We have decided to take a stand against this war, which we consider immoral, illegal and unjust. We are initiating today, through our attorneys, Stanley Faulkner of New York and Mrs. Selma Samols of Washington, D.C. an action in the courts to enjoin the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of the Army from sending us to Vietnam. We intend to report as ordered to the Oakland Army Terminal, but under no circumstances will we board ship for Vietnam. We are prepared to face Court Martial if necessary. We represent in our backgrounds a cross section of the Army and of America. James Johnson is a Negro, David Samas is of Lithuanian and Italian parents, Dennis Mora is a Puerto Rican. We speak as American soldiers. We have been in the army long enough to know that we are not the only G.l.s who feel as we do. Large numbers of men in the service either do not understand this war or are against it. When we entered the army Vietnam was for us only a newspaper box score of G.l.s and Viet Cong killed or wounded. We were all against it in one way or another, but we were willing to go along with the program, believing that we would not be sent to Vietnam. We were told from the very first day of our induction that we were headed for Vietnam. During basic training it was repeated often by sergeants and officers, and soon it became another meaningless threat that was used to make us take our training seriously. But later on Vietnam became a fact of life when some one you knew wondered how he could break the news to his girl, wife, or family that he was being sent there. After he solved that problem, he had to find a reason that would satisfy him. The reasons were many-Somebodys got to do it, When your numbers up, your numbers up ... .. The pay is good, and Youve got to stop them someplace were phrases heard in the barracks and mess hall, and used by soldiers to encourage each other to accept the war as their own. Besides, what could be done about it anyway? Orders are orders. As we saw more and more of this, the war became the one thing we talked about most and the one point we all agreed upon. No one wanted to go and more than that, there was no reason for anyone to go. The Viet Cong obviously had the moral and physical support of most of the peasantry who were fighting for their independence. We were told that you couldnt tell them apartthat they looked like any other skinny peasant. Our man or our men in Saigon has and have always been brutal dictators, since Diem first violated the 1954 Geneva promise of free elections in 1956. The Buddhist and military revolt in all the major cities proves that the people of the cities also want an end to Ky and U.S. support for him. The Saigon Army has become the advisor to American G.l.s who have to take over the fighting. No one used the word winning anymore because in Vietnam it has no meaning.

Our officers just talk about five and ten more years of war with at least million of our boys thrown into the grinder. We have been told that many times we may face a Vietnamese woman or child and that we will have to kill them. We will never go there-to do that for Ky. The building was being constructed without a roof to house the solar system, including the solar panels and the water pump to provide Ad Dawa with electricity and water. This is part of a project financed by a Spanish cooperation and the Energy Research Center at An Najah University. The building, located in a valley with a small pond and over 100 trees on the land including figs, lemons, pomegranates and oranges, was completely smashed and demolished. Settlers from Itamar settlement frequently attack the residents of Ad Dawa. They usually disguise themselves as soldiers and tell people to leave their own land, attacking farmers and trying to work Palestinian land.

Thus, the five families living on the outskirts of the village, in this area, are subjected to continuous settler harassment, violence and land theft.

The residents of Abu-Gosh woke up to find the damaged cars and graffiti such as 'Death to Arabs, Arabs Out 19 June 2013 The Middle East Monitor Jewish settlers have damaged a number of cars in a Palestinian village to the west of Jerusalem and scrawled racist graffiti on houses. The tyres of 28 vehicles were slashed in the attack. The residents of Abu-Gosh woke up to find the damaged cars and graffiti such as Death to Arabs, Arabs Out and Price Tag. The village is surrounded by illegal Israeli settlements. The Islamic movement in Israel condemned the attacks by the Price Tag group. In a statement, the movement recounted a number of attacks and reminded people about last week's attack on the Orthodox Christian Cemetery in Jaffa and the racist graffiti written on the home of the Arab judge in Tel Aviv District Court. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision not to classify the Price Tag group as a terrorist entity was also condemned.

His decision encourages more bloodshed against Palestinians wherever they are, said the movement's spokesman. We have no choice but to protect ourselves against settler attacks, especially our places of worship, because the Israeli government doesn't want to protect us. Netanyahu has labelled Price Tag as a forbidden organisation, liable to stricter legal procedures. A number of young Jewish settlers formed the Price Tag group to act against Palestinians, whom bizarrely they claim took their land, as well as against their own government. They carry out attacks repeatedly against Palestinians, and believe that they embarrass the Israeli government by their violence. Thousands Of Protesters Gathered In Istanbul's Taksim Square On June 25 Denouncing The Release Of A Police Officer Accused Of Deliberately Killing 26-Year-Old Worker Ethem Sarslk

Bizarre incidents like beating up of singers and break up protesters solidarity are also happening in the country. Thousands of protesters gathered in Istanbul's Taksim Square on June 25 denouncing the release of a police officer accused of deliberately killing 26-year-old worker Ethem Sarslk, a demonstrator in Ankara. Gatherings were also organized in other cities across the country to protest the court's ruling.

The Istanbul protest that started around 7 p.m. was marked by extreme security measures by the police around the Taksim area. The demonstration was only allowed under a heavy riot police cordon. Police blocked all roads potentially leading to the area, Metro and funicular access to the square was canceled, and passengers of cars at checkpoints were checked. Protesters held peaceful demonstration at the intersection between the Taksim Square and stiklal Avenue. The outcry over the deaths of protestors has increased, as a police officer, identified as Ahmet ., who allegedly shot a demonstrator, was released by a court pending trial, after the prosecutor argued that the shooting was within the limits of self-defense. Sarslk died last week from his wounds after being shot in the head during a protest in Ankara on June 1. The ruling prompted a spontaneous demonstration yesterday evening in Kadky, on Istanbul's Asian side. Zlf Livaneli, famous Turkish folk singer, author and former politician, who was beaten for unknown reasons before and after a concert last week, feels isolated but not surprised. Livaneli said he had witnessed the killing of more than 50 friends over the years, and some others were tortured. There were times that we were put in military jails. Unfortunately this Turkey is like a mythological monster that eats its own kids. In countries such as ours the Constitutions is not working. A dictatorial approach overwhelms pluralism. But can you call a regime that is not inspected by law and legislation a democracy? The government is relying on conspiracy theories while reading the protests. Young generations are fed up of hearing insults, intervention in their lifestyles and the prime ministers acting like the father of the nation and suddenly they found themselves in Taksim square crying out for freedom. Seeking conspiracy behind this is nonsense.
