High tech aluminium bed with 2 sliding rails and 2 cylinders, 60 cm in diameter and 36cm in width each), covered in imitation leather. Exclusive MFC patent that concentrates the force lines inside the solenoid and does not disperse them towards the outside (in accordance with Legis. Decree 626). The 50 cm cylinder glides along ball bearings and can travel for 40% of the total length. The 60 cm cylinder glides along ball bearings and can travel for 100% of the total length overlapping the 50 cm cylinder in the final part. In comparison with standard systems, this system gives greater space to the patient who can easily stretch out along the bed. North Pole identification for correct orientation.

Along with their applicators, magnetic therapy devices generate magnetic fields that can be adjusted in intensity and frequency, producing induction in the surrounding area and shown graphically in Figure 1: The force lines are strongest near the solenoid and decrease as you move outwards from it. The maximum power is at the contact point with the solenoid, and the intensity produced outside the cylinder is similar to that inside. From this description, it can be understood that any person that is in the area or passing by will be subjected to the effects of the electromagnetic field in addition to the patient inside the solenoid. The intensity is still significant at 50-60 cm from the solenoid.
fig. 1

All magnetic therapy equipment on the market produces this effect. It means that any persons in the vicinity of the applicators and solenoids are overexposed to undesired electromagnetic fields. In order to resolve this serious problem, after a long period of research and study, EME Srl developed the exclusive MFC patent (d. n PS2000U00044) which uses a special device to significantly reduce the magnetic induction produced outside the solenoid and which concentrates the force lines inside the solenoid. Therefore it is the patient who will feel the effects and not the operators. The effect is shown in the diagram in fig. 2.
fig. 2

Tests carried out show that by using the MFC patent, electromagnetic pollution in the area is reduced by more than 85%. This brings the device into compliance with the new regulations introduced by Legis. Decree 626 implementing the following directives
89/391/CEE 89/654/CEE 89/655/CEE 89/656/CEE 90/269/CEE 90/270/CEE 90/394/CEE 90/679/CEE

on the improvement of health and safety for workers in their places of work.

The MFC patent - Magnetic Field Concentrator

The Magnetomed series is another step forward in the field of magnetic therapy. Thanks to its advanced technology this device can now be continually updated and will be able to carry out functions that become available in the future. By using a smart card or an Internet connection, this computer derived technology means that you can easily update the unit by adding functions, protocols, and anything else our research and development department makes available. Magnetomed emits low frequency pulsed magnetic fields (adjustable from 1 to 100 Hz) and

intensity up to 100 Gauss per single output. The wide range of accessories available means that you can optimise treatment for those conditions that respond well to magnetic therapy. The 2 and 4 output models are capable of providing effective total body treatment. You can create customised patient profiles with the smart-card. A useful encoder means that you can quickly select the current or the protocol to use by accessing a library of over 100 programmes, or you can create and store up to 400 simple or sequential operational protocols.

Magnetomed treatment induces the following biological effects: 1. basic general action by magnetic fields on the plasmatic membrane as shown by the more significant experimental data studied by us. It is primarily represented by: modification of the membrane permeability and therefore the ionic equilibrium on both its sides (improvement in ionic exchange and increase in oxygen uptake and use); influence on the flow of ions (especially calcium) through the membrane itself with its action dependant on the frequency used (greater oxygen uptake and therefore energy for the mechanisms that drive the ionic pumps); influence on many enzymatic intracellular systems and on the membrane; influence on the relationship between antigens and antibodies; influence on the layout and orientation of the molecules that are on the sides of the membrane and that have their own magnetic moments, and are involved in those biological processes that need steric positions imposed by the molecules in order to develop (active transport, hormone-receptor complexes, transmitter-receptor enzymatic reactions, antigen-antibody reactions, etc.) 2. on the blood: beneficial action on the vessel diameter and on the viscosity of blood with improvement of local circulatory conditions and oxygen pressure (hypervascularization). This also explains the acceleration in the healing process of soft tissue and bone injuries and trophic injuries with peripheral circulatory origin, and the beneficial effect on biological structures that depend on the diffusion of oxygen, like cartilage for example. 3. on the immune system: increase in immunoglobulin-G and circulating leucocytes with strengthening of the immune system; regulation of steroid substance and endogenous opioid production (therefore modulating the pain system). 4. on the endocrine system: inhibition of some hormonal functions (parathyroid) and stimulation of others (Pineal melatonin). 5. on the central and peripheral nervous systems: reduction in sympathetic system activity (due to probable hyperpolarisation of the pre and post-synaptic membranes, or modulating the vasodilation stimuli frequencies); alteration of cerebral cellular activity. 6. on metabolism 7. on cell reproduction 8. on tissue regeneration: for the magnetic field action on collagen genesis by fibroblasts, on the angiopoiesis with neoformation of blood vessels (that explains the beneficial effects of magnetic fields on healing wounds, sores, and numb sores). 9. on bone tissue: osteogenesis is stimulated where it doesn't occur naturally (pseudoarthrosis, consolidation delays) providing the necessary signals for cell reactivation (mesenchymal periosteum, monocytes, fibroblasts, osteoblasts that encourage the formation of internal callus), improving blood uptake, inhibiting the parathormones and therefore encouraging osteoblast activity.
