The Tanzania Food and Drugs Authority (TFDA) is an Executive Agency under the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare which is responsible for the control of quality and safety of food, medicines, cosmetics and medical devices for the purpose of protecting public health. TFDA is established under Section 4 (1) of the Tanzania Food, Drugs and Cosmetics Act, Cap 219 and became operational on 1st July 2003. The Authority seeks to recruit intelligent, competent, open-minded, result oriented with high integrity Tanzanians to fill the following attractive vacancies: Duty station Drug HQ 1, Inspector - Mbeya 1, Six (6) posts Mwanza 1, Arusha 1, DSM 1(Eastern Zone) and Dodoma1 Drug TFDA HQ Registration Officer Five (5) posts Post Duties - Conduct inspection of medicines, cosmetics and medical devices and respective premises. - Conduct inspection of medicines, cosmetics and medical devices imports and exports at ports of entry. - Process applications for registration of premises, licenses, import and export permits of medicines, cosmetics and medical devices. - Supervise destruction of unfit medicines, cosmetics and medical devices. - Prepare and submit progress reports to supervisor - Conduct evaluation of documentation of products submitted for registration of medicines, cosmetics and medical devices -Evaluate promotional materials for medicines, cosmetics and medical devices applied for registration - Prepare and submit evaluation and progress reports to the Qualification Bachelor degree in Pharmacy, Human or Veterinary Medicine, Traditional Medicine, Chemistry or equivalent qualifications in related field from a recognized university or institution with at least two (2) years working experience in related field. supervisor - Update relevant product registration database(s) - Attend and respond to customer enquiries related to product registration - Develop or review guidelines and standard operating procedures for registration of products - Conduct inspection of food products and premises. - Conduct inspection of food imports and exports at ports of entry. - Prepare and submit inspection reports according to guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs). - Process applications for registration of premises, licenses, import and export permits of foods. - Supervise destruction of unfit food products. - Prepare status reports on licenses, permits, import and export of food. - Update computer databases of food products. - Develop or review guidelines and SOPs for inspection of products and premises - Review and evaluate documentation of food products applied for registration - Evaluate food promotional materials - Prepare and submit evaluation and progress reports to the supervisor - Update the relevant food products registration database - Attend and respond to customer enquiries related to food products registration - Develop or review guidelines and SOPs for food registration - Analyze/assess medical devices - Verify test results and prepare analytical reports - Prepare and revise SOPs, guidelines and manuals of medical devices - Carry out laboratory internal audits - Carry out analytical method validation - Carry out corrective and preventive actions when nonconformances are identified - Maintain cleanliness of equipment and good housekeeping of the laboratory

Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology, Environmental Health Sciences, Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent qualification in the related field from a recognized university or institution with at least two (2) years working experience in related field.

BSc. Food Science and Technology, Human Nutrition or Food Chemistry from a recognized university or institution with at least two (2) years working experience in related field.

BSc. Biomedical Engineering, BSc. Industrial Technology, BSc. in Laboratory Technology Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent qualifications in the related field from a recognized university or institution with at least 3 years working experience in related field.

- Prepare specifications for procuring equipment, chemicals, consumables and reference materials - Supervise trainees Laboratory Technician Two posts (2) TFDA HQ - Analyze products samples. - Keep samples in safe custody before analysis. - Train and give guidance to subordinates. - Keep the working bench clean and tidy before and after analysis. - Keep the laboratory equipment, instruments and apparatus in safe custody. - Report faults and breakage of equipment of laboratory. - Record results prepare reports and submit to the superior. - Offer technical support to laboratory equipment. - Respond to emergency situations relating to electricity, air conditioning and fire for the Laboratory building during or after office hours. - Inspect electrical fittings and air conditioners in the Laboratory building and ensure that they are smoothly maintained. -Prepare estimates for electrical and air conditioner repairs for the Laboratory building. - Supervise servicing of fire equipment. - Maintain fire alarm system in the Laboratory building and ensure its orderliness - Supervise maintenance works for laboratory equipment and building. - Operate generator for the Laboratory building and supervise its maintenance -Prepare reagents under supervision of analyst, technologist or technician. - Assist analyst/technician/technologist in carrying out - Clean and maintain laboratory apparatus and equipment as directed by annals, technologist or technician - Maintain cleanliness of the laboratory premises - Carry out sample screening test - Implement the Laboratory Quality Management System - Keep environment of the Laboratory clean at all times Ordinary Diploma in Laboratory, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Food Sciences or its equivalent from recognized institution with at least 2 years working experience in related field

Laboratory Technician (Technical Support) One post (1)

Full Technician Certificate or Ordinary Diploma (Electricity/Electronic) from recognized institution with at least 3 years experience.

Laboratory TFDA HQ Assistant Two (2) posts

Certificate of Ordinary Level Education (Form Four) with at least 3 years experience as Laboratory Assistant.
