Aaron Bartley scored 13 points, dished out six assists, grabbed four rebounds, and came up with six steals in his final game as a member of the Bobcats. Matt Morrow scored 11 points, one board, and seven steals. He also hit two clutch free throws with just seconds remaining to seal the win. Jason Davis scored seven points combined with three assists and three rebounds. Josh Brewer scored five points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out two assists. Shamar Cole posted six points, tallied four assists, and blocked two shots. Aniket Morajkar provided great defense with three steals in limited minutes. The team started the season with a loss to Raw Dawgs 53-47 despite a ferocious second half comeback. After a 12 day layoff, the team dominated Rated R 74-38 to reach the .500 mark. The team dropped back under .500 following a 60-44 loss to Rollin Sauce. The team then won 54-37 over The Fat Cawks and 59-42 over Magic Johnsons to improve to 3-2. On Feb. 28 Chris Kaman went up against rival and Resident Assistant Rob McGrath and Team Messina. The senior squad overpowered Chris Kaman in the first half and pulled out to a 20+ point lead. Chris Kaman powered back and only lost by nine, 67-59. "This was the closest game we played all year," said McGrath after the game. Following the loss, the team went on a seven game winning streak to claim the title. The team defeated Pool Jumpers 43-33, then beat PKP 59-19 which featured a Cole dunk to end the game.
At 5-3, Chris Kaman claimed the 19 seed in the playoffs in a pool of 43 teams. After a first round bye, the team played 14 seed John Demezzo and narrowly escaped with a win, 43-38. In the Sweet Sixteen, the team played the 3 seeded School Street Hooligans and beat them handily 42-13. The game featured one School Street player assessed two technical fouls and ejected, one player fouling out, and two others each receiving one technical. In the Elite Eight, the team played what was may have been the longest game in intramural history when they defeated six seed Bricksquad in five overtimes, 51-46. Bartley and Brewer carried the team to come from behind and win the game in overtime. On Apr. 2, the team played two seed and heavy favorite Winkle Way in the Final Four who went 6-0 in the regular season and followed up with two impressive wins to advance. Chris Kaman persevered and won the game 4441 for their sixth straight win. The win punched their ticket to the Championship Game at TD Bank Sports Center Apr. 3. The Championship Game was originally scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Apr. 3, but had to be rescheduled until 11:00 p.m. drastically reducing the fan base.
33
The team started off the game slow because of nerves and inexperience. The score was quickly 21-9 in favor of (9) Air Jenkens who defeated (1) Team Messina in the Final Four. However, like so many games before, Chris Kaman battled back to decrease the lead to just seven at 25-18. "We got this," Cole said during the halftime huddle. The team responded by outscored Air Jenkens 24-13 in the second half. Air Jenkens featured a bench that went seven players deep and played a tough 3-2 zone throughout most of the contest. With less than five minutes to go, Jenkens switched to man-to-man and intentionally fouled, but Morrow and Davis came up clutch with free-throws. Down four with fewer than seven seconds to go, Jenkens chucked up a three which air balled and the celebration began with players jumping and running all over the court. The team posed for photos after the game at center court and by the bobcat poster on the wall sporting their new Champion '13 shirts.
