Jim Kelly

Corporate Strategy Executive Bank of America Darden Class of 1987

Jim Kelly is a member of Bank of Americas Corporate Strategy and Planning Group. His focus is on the successful execution of the banks three year strategic plan. Kelly and his team are accountable for leading a company-wide transformation program (New BAC) ensuring the entire company is aligned to the banks client centric strategy in the most effective/ efficient manner while maintaining and improving risk controls. Prior to moving into this role in January 2011, Kelly led the Global Banking, Markets and Wealth Management Technology & Operations (GBMWM T&O) organization with more than 40,000 employees and contractors in 35 countries. This group was responsible for delivering technology and operations support to the banks Commercial, Corporate and Investment Banking, Wealth Management and Global Markets businesses, in addition to the companys Risk and Treasury functions. Kelly joined Bank of America in 1987 and has held many different leadership roles primarily within the technology, change management and operations areas. Prior to his GBMWM T&O role, Kelly led the Enterprise Solutions Group which focused on delivery of company-wide technology systems, architecture and software delivery life-cycle standards. He has also led the companys Application Software Engineering Group, Affluent Client Segment, and Consumer & Small Business Banking and Consumer Products business support teams. Throughout his career, he has played an active leadership role on numerous transitions of acquired companies. In addition to being a vocal advocate of Darden over his career at BAC, Jim drove two key areas of partnership with Darden and the bank. The first was a Tech/MBA recruiting program which has successfully brought a number of Darden hires into BAC. The second was the UVA Technology Development program which the bank jointly developed with the University as a continuing education program for mid level BAC technology managers. The program was resident program held at Darden and included content/participation from both Darden and McIntire School of Commerce. Kelly was born in Lynchburg, VA and currently resides in Charlotte, NC. He earned his bachelors degree in physics from Hampden-Sydney College and his MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia. He previously served on the Advisory Board of the Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology and on the UNC Charlotte College of Information Technology Board of Advisors. He is an active supporter of the Charlotte United Way and N-Power organizations. Other interests include spending time with his family, golfing and boating.
