Secret Weapon! Catch 1. 2 cans nacho cheeze (zesty style)
Catfish Easily 2. 2 lbs. calf brains (approx)
www.CatfishFishingWeapon.com 3. 2 oz. ground annise seed (use pestal
and bowl)

Preparation:

1. Mix well and place in suitable container

for several days before use.
2. Add ground dry cat food (use blender) to
desired consistency. Will work as "dip" or
"doughball" bait.
3. If fishing from the bank, stand well away
from the water when baiting the
hook....losing a finger or hand to an
agressive catfish just isn't worth taking a
chance. Fishing from a boat should be
limited to experienced "trophy hunters"
only.

Catfish/Carp Corn Bait

Submitted By Chris. I - Dallas, Pennsylvania (Guaranteed and works like a charm, no matter
where you're fishing. Its good for both catfish and carp.)

Ingredients:

1. Can of whole corn

2. Vanilla extract

Preparation:

1. Drain the water from the can of corn, and leave only about 5 percent water
in the can.
2. Pour enough vanilla in the can until the corn turns a brownish-yellow color
(use your own judgement).
3. Shake the can, and let the vanilla absorb into the corn.
4. Depending on your hook, I personally use a #2 treble hook, you should be
able to slide on about 4 or 5 good sized pieces of corn, and don't forget to
set your drag....Good Luck!

Cat Hole Bait

Submitted By Roy, TX
Last week a 3 pound channel cat I caught was stuffed full of 40 percent pellets, so, last night I
drilled a hole in some one half inch pellets to use for bait, use small saw to cut pellets in half. If

http://www.willontheweb.com/fishing/baitrecipes.html 6/19/2007
Bait Recipes, Catfish Bait Recipes and Bait Recipes for Carp at Fishing Will County, Illin... Page 7 of 24

you use this recipe, please email me with your results at laverne.willmond@sbcglobal.net.

1. Use cotton seed cake or (cattle cubes) to bait a cat hole. I suggest you
use a burlap, bottom half. Fill with 15 lbs or so to throw in to chum fish. Tie
it where fish can smell but not eat.
2. Bait your pole, use no weight as pellet acts as weight.
3. Hooks eye must go thru pellet, I use crappie type hook, it has a small eye.
4. Cast around chum bait.
5. Dip pellet in your favorite cat dip if too slow.

 Once Cup Instant Oatmeal

 3/4 cup of sugar
Water (amount varies: 2 to 31/2 cups, more or less depending on
preference).
 Maple Syrup (amount varies)

Preparation:

1. Add dry ingredients first and then add desired amounts of water and
syrup, depending on the thickness you prefer. The sweetness is the
keystone of the bait. It won't harm to taste a tiny bit of it. If the bait doesn't
stay on the hook and you're out on the water with no thickening agent,
always bring a small piece of cheese cloth or wire screen, and wrap them
around the baited hook with the hook point sticking out.

Ingredients:

 1 can of cat food

 3 tbs of molasses
1 chunk of velvetta cheese melted
4 cups of cattle feed or fish food pellets

Preparation:

1. Combine into large bowl then add hot water to turn cattle feed into mush.
Then start adding flour and or oatmeal till it stiffens up and you get a good
stiff dough. I make this all the time and bag it up in zip lock bags and
freeze it till i need another bag.

Submitter's note: Have also done this recipe with dog food, strawberry pop added
to this mix. Then I take a large gallon size ziplock bag of the dry cattle feed with
me to seed the water where I'm fishing just throw a few handfuls in once in a
while. This works well in lakes where they have feeders out. Live in Kansas have
tried this at about 26 different lakes last summer only had one lake I didn't get my
limit at.

Cat & Carp Bait

Submitted By Dustin, Scottsdale, Arizona.
I've tried many different things but none of them work as good as these.

Preparation:

1. You take bread, flower, and mix them with either water (both cat + carp),
melted Velveeta cheese (cat), or with Koolaid with a bit less water (carp).
Mush it together with your hands for a while. If it turns out too sticky, add
more bread. No matter what, it's going to be a little sticky. This can be
solved by an overnight trip to the refridgerator.

I have also had a great deal of catfish success with just plain hard crab meat (female crab
parts stay on the hook the best, male crab meat is too soft).

Ingredients:

1 can of fishy smelling cat food

 flour or ground corn meal
a bag of old dead crabs (If you live in a region where no crab is available,
substitute with shad guts or chopped up minnows)
 a few cotton balls
 beer, if needed

Preparation:

1. Use a can of fishy smelling cat food, some flour or ground corn meal, go to
the local crab truck and obtain a bag of old dead crabs. I get these for free
from my local vendor, and he says taking them does him a big favor! Mix
the crab guts, flour, and cat food into a sticky dough and add a little
stretched out cotton ball to give the hook something to hold onto. If it
needs a little moisture, add just a little beer until it is the right consistency.
When you have firm balls rolled up, let them get ripe at least overnight, in
a disposable container, OUT of the fridge and you're ready to nail the big
ones!

Carp/Catfish "Sock" Bait

Submitted By Ron L.- Follansbee, West Virginia

I learned this simple, yet easy river recipe 13 years ago. You can make this on the lake or river
as needed. This has been a very effective bait for both carp and catfish for me.

Ingredients:

 instant oatmeal
flavorings of your choice (jello or kool-aid, anise, vanilla, garlic powder,
etc.)
plus you'll need an old sock.

Preparation:

1. You take instant oatmeal and add it to a sock (as much as you want to
make).
2. Dip it into the water and let absorb as much water as it can, then you twirl
the concoction around and around in the air until it rings out the excess
H2O.
3. Take the ball of oats out of the sock, it will be sticky. Knead the ball and
roll it in your hands until it gets smooth and non sticky.
4. Add your flavorings like jello or kool-aid, anise, vanilla, garlic powder,
whatever, and knead and roll some more until it feels like it will stay on
hook.

Jello Bait
Submitted By Taylor H.- Monee, Illinois

Ingredients:

 1 cup of water
1/2 package of a Jello (any flavor - strawberry is good)
 1 cup of corn meal
 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

http://www.willontheweb.com/fishing/baitrecipes.html 6/19/2007
Bait Recipes, Catfish Bait Recipes and Bait Recipes for Carp at Fishing Will County, Il... Page 23 of 24

Preparation:

1. In a shallow pan on the stove boil the water.

2. Then add the Jello and vanilla extract and dissolve.
3. Reduce to simmer, and gradually sprinkle the corn meal, letting the corn
meal absorb the liquid. As most of the liquid is absorbed, shut off the heat
(this is the tricky part - if you overheat the mixture it will burn and stick to
the pan!).
4. Now stir, stir, stir, with a spoon. You will end up with a nice dough. If
sticky, just add a little flour/meal.
