Q. I have a CDMA phone; can I port to GSM technology? A. If you got a GSM phone you can switch over.

Q. Can I give a port in request to more than one operator at a time? A. The request which reaches your current service provider for acceptance, first will be entertained, subsequent requests will be rejected. Q. How can I get a UPC code? A. SMS Port Mobile no. from your phone and send this to 1900. You will get an 8 digit alphanumeric code from your current service provider through SMS from 1901.

Q. How fast will I get the UPC code? A. Instantly, after sending the SMS to 1900.

Q. What steps do I need to follow if I want to port to Virgin Mobile GSM Prepay? A. If you are a prepaid customer and want to port to Virgin Mobile PrepaidWalk into any of our retail outlets with a photocopy of valid POA/ POI. Fill the CAF form with valid 8 digit UPC code. (The UPC code can be taken from your existing operator- Simply SMS Port Mobile no. to <1900> from the mobile number which you wish to port.) Retailer will hand over the new Virgin Mobile SIM card. The entire process of porting will take maximum 7 working days (excluding Sundays & Public Holidays). Q. What documents are required for a porting request? A. You need to submit1) Duly filled CAF form with UPC code details. 2) POA/ POI. 3) Copy of last bill (incase you are a postpaid customer). Q. Do I need to pay any charges for porting to Virgin Mobile ? A. Yes, you need to pay a port in charge of ` 19 along with the CAF form & documents.

Q. If my number is not ported, will the ` 19 be refundable? A. No, ` 19 is a non refundable amount. Q. What is the eligibility criterion for porting? A. There are 7 eligible criterias for porting: No billed outstanding payments. Not ported within 90 days/not activated within 90 days. No ownership change request is in progress.

The mobile number to be ported is sub judice. Prohibited by court of law. Porting code does not match. Subsisting contractual obligation. Q. Can my porting request get rejected? A. Yes, it may be rejected if any of the eligibility criterions are not met.

Q. When will my number get ported after applying? A. After youve applied and your documents are submitted, we will send your request to your existing operator for validations, post which an intimation will be sent to you on exact time and date of porting ( no service period ) on your mobile number. Q. Will there be any impact on my services in the process of porting? A. There will be a maximum 2 hrs no service period where your number will be deactivated with current operator and activated on our network. You will be intimated of this timeframe in advance, so that you can inform your buddies that they cant contact you on your phone. Q. In case I have applied for a porting to Virgin Mobile, but change my decision not to port out of my current operator, what do I do? A. You will need to submit a written application to us within 24 hours of applying.

Q. Do I need to cancel my account with my current service provider? A. No, your number will be automatically terminated and transferred to Virgin Mobile as part of the porting request raised by you. Q. Will I enjoy all existing services on your network as well? A. You will immediately get access to local/STD/ISD services post activation. You shall need to make a request at our call centre for access to GPRS and other value added services. Q. What will be the tariff applicable to me? A. Refer the MNP tariff plan for MNP customers.

Q. Do I have to replace my SIM card and handset? A. Yes. You will have to replace your current SIM card with a new Virgin Mobile SIM card. In case you are porting your CDMA number to Virgin Mobile GSM service, then you need to change your phone too.

Q. Is there any penalty fee if I want to port out of Virgin Mobile after getting ported?

A. No. There will not be any penalty fee if you decide to move out, however you can only port out after completing 90 days with Virgin Mobile. Q. Do I have to apply for DND after port in? A. Yes, you need to give a fresh request for DND activation with us (Virgin Mobile) as your DND service would have got deactivated with your previous service provider. Q. I'm a prepaid customer and I have some credit left can I take this with me? A. Naah, you cannot transfer the credit with you as the same will be adjusted in your full and final bill statement of your pervious operator. Q. How would I know the status of my porting request during the process? A. We will keep on updating you on your porting request thru SMS. You can also buzz us on our call center helpline number (Full 10 digit no. circle specific). Q. In case my porting request is rejected can I apply again? A. Yup, you can apply again after completion of eligibility criterions due to which your request got rejected. Q. In case my porting request is rejected can I apply again for port in with the same UPC? A. You can apply again with the same UPC (as UPC has a validity of 15 days). After 15 days you need to generate the new UPC for re-application of port in request. Q. When would I get to know that my Virgin Mobile connection is activated? A. Your Virgin Mobile connection will be activated after completion of 2 hours of no service period. We would request you to insert Virgin Mobile SIM in your GSM phone, after completion of no service period. Q. Do I need to pay anything to my previous operator after porting? A.Yes, you need to pay your final bill raised by your previous operator after porting, if you were a postpaid customer. Q. Can I reactivate my number in case it has got disconnected with you due to non payment to my previous operator? A. No, once number got disconnected due to non-payment, it cannot be reactivated.
