Monitoring Plan 18
This development plan was written by Stephen Snell (Principal) and Jan Watts (Library Adviser, National Library of New Zealand).
This plan will guide us as we integrate the library into curriculum programmes, so it becomes an integral part of our teaching and
learning, including our focus on ICT and the development of our inquiry process.
The programme will be monitored by the Principal, who will work alongside the staff and report regularly to the Board of Trustees.
Students use these competencies to learn and contribute as active members of the Taonui School community. For the library to
become an integral part of our curriculum, students need to develop and use these competencies.
Students will also be encouraged to value excellence, inquiry, equity, participation, responsibility and respect as they use library
resources to support their learning.
Through using our library students will have the opportunity to:
Indicators:
o students have received library management training, and maintain their own individual library training manual
o students can independently and responsibly manage the process of issuing and returning resources
o students will independently locate relevant resources
o Students will demonstrate respect for library resources and other users
o Students will support and assist other students
