Taonui School Library development Plan 2

2009 - 2011
INTRODUCTION

This development plan was written by Stephen Snell (Principal) and Jan Watts (Library Adviser, National Library of New Zealand).

This plan will guide us as we integrate the library into curriculum programmes, so it becomes an integral part of our teaching and
learning, including our focus on ICT and the development of our inquiry process.

The programme will be monitored by the Principal, who will work alongside the staff and report regularly to the Board of Trustees.

2009 - 2011
VISION STATEMENT

The NZ curriculum identifies five key competencies:

o thinking
o using language, symbols and texts
o managing self
o relating to others
o participating and contributing.

Students use these competencies to learn and contribute as active members of the Taonui School community. For the library to
become an integral part of our curriculum, students need to develop and use these competencies.

Students will also be encouraged to value excellence, inquiry, equity, participation, responsibility and respect as they use library
resources to support their learning.
