What exactly is Big Data? Andr will introduce us to the Big Data topic and will lead the roundtable after the two presentations.

Founder of DataCrunchers, a Big Data consultancy agency. Geert has a background in development, coaching and technical lead, with a interest in data mining. Hes IBM BigInsights Technical Professional & Cloudera Certified Hadoop Administrator and Developer.

Geert will introduce us to the world of Big Data. He will talk about both business, technical and financial drivers for Big Data, about the use cases for big data, how to become a data driven organisation and how a real-time big data analytic system could be build.

Jan is a highly rated independent consultant, speaker and author with more than 20 years experience in the field of information architecture and relational databases. As a consultant Jan has witnessed the inner workings of a broad range of companies.

In comes a tsunami of Big Data and the question that arises is: Can we still use the same old medicine as a useful Information Governance to tackle this new problem? The answer is obviously No as a lot of the recipes in Information Governance are based on our span of control which is significantly different with most of the Big Data sources. Try governing the #s in tweets. Jan will focus on handling the veracity and variety aspects of Big Data and he will introduce a method of governing Big Data.
