*About Yogeeshwara Sri Ramakrishnananda: Pinnavsal is a quiet hamlet about 28 kms. from Tiruchirapalli.

It is situated beyond Lalgudi (about 2 kms.) enroute Ariyalur. Here, there once lived a Siddha Purusha by name Ramakrishnananda. Born in Kallidaikurichi, he spent a number of years in vudaiyr koil. He was married against his wishes. Marriage did not stop him from his spiritual austerities. He did not pay any attention to his wife but continued to perform his tapas. He had performed intense tapas for thousands of years. He had performed tapas 'janma' (birth) after 'janma'. He was in vudaiyar Koil (temple) where through his chanting of the Navskshari mantra he attained several siddhis (supernatural powers). He also performed tapas in Nerur where stands the Samadhi of Sri Sadasiva Brahmendra. It is said by the legends that Narayana Tirtha attained the `Jiva Samadhi` on the Sukla Ashtami day of the Masi month at Tirupoondiuruthi, which is about five kilometers from Tiruvaiyaru. Now, a mango tree stands on the spot of his Samadhi. The very first awareness of His own inner nature, His very first brush with His incarnated being, and the first revelation of His lifes mission, happened to Nithyananda when he met with Arunagiri Yogiswara, who is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Siva Himself, at age nine. Nithyananda took to sitting in front of the jiva samadhi of Arunagiri Yogiswara, at the Arunachaleshwara temple, and that is where their meeting first happened.
The latest Samadhi of Sadguru Sri Kuzhandayananda Swamigal was in Madurai in the year 1932. The place is Arasaradi, where the Sangam has built a temple. Thirupattur (26 km) Ask for the way to the Brahma Temple, although the presiding deity is Shiva as Brahmapureeswarar. It is believed that Brahma himself consecrated the 12 Shivalingams in this temple. Shiva's consort is the radiant Brahmanayaki. Posing in padmasana, the monolithic idol of Brahma is very finely carved, and is probably the largest in India - 6 1/2 ft wide and 6 ft high. Left of this sannidhi is the jeeva samadhi of Patanjali, the father of yoga. Pretty lotuses bloom in the almost over 2,500-year-old temple tank, the Brahma Tirth. Kandaswamy Temple is situated at Cheyyur, near Madurantakam, in Kanchipuram District of Tamil Nadu. This 11th century temple is dedicated to Lord Kandaswamy (Lord Muruga). The presiding deity here is enshrined, along with his consorts Valli and Deivanai, with his Vel and his flag. Most noteworthy feature of the temple is that its construction is in the shape of Tamil letter Aum. It is here Saint Chidambara Swamigal attained his Jeeva Samadhi on the day of Vaikasi Visakam. Guru Puja to the Swamigal is performed in the morning at his samadhi, located near the temple.
Tirupporur attained its name because the war between Lord Muruga and the Asuras began here. It is about 30 km from Chennai. The Kandaswamy temple here was established by Sri. Chidambara Swamigal in the 17th century. The saint had a vision of Lord Muruga along with His spouses Valli and Deivanai and it is said that the Lord asked the saint to unearth Him from the ground. He did the same and built this temple. The temple is built in the shape of Tamil letter OM. That is to say, the different Sannidhis are situated accordingly. People from Chennai and nearby towns throng the temple during Bharani, Krithigai and especially during Adi Krithigai, Thai Krithigai and Vaikasi Visakam. Another significance here is that, Saint Chidambara Swamigal attained his Jeeva Samadhi on the same day of Vaikasi Visakam. So, there will be Guru Puja to the Swamigal in the morning at his Samadhi (which is near the temple) and there will be a procession of the deities (Lord Muruga with His spouses) late in the evening. " The Lord will give a special Darshan to the Swamigal whose idol will be brought from his Samadhi. This is a special feature here," says Gurukkal Sri. Ravichandran.
