Top five female badasses in Contemporary fictional literature

1. Daenerys (Game of Thrones) - Daenerys Stormborn of the house Targaryen . Words cannot describe how badass this girl is. I am honestly in awe of how strong willed and powerful she is. First off, her brother sold her to the warlord of Dothraki Khalasar, Khal Drogo, so he could get an army. The warlord takes Daenerys as his wife. Drogo got sick of his mouth as he threatens the life of Daenerys (Now Khaleesi, the queen of the Dothraki people) and their unborn child. She watched as her husband poured molten hot gold over her brothers head, killing him. She got pregnant, used black magic because her husband was sick. As a result, the baby died. Her husband came back, but was comatoast. In order to end his suffering, she suffocated him to death. During his burial, she tied the witch that ended her family to a post, along with three dragon eggs, set the bodies on fire, and Daenerys walked into the flames. In the morning, the dragon eggs hatched and Daenerys was still alive. She also freed slaves, got her own army, and punishes those who do not respect her. Not to mention, she has three dragons! No one else is as badass as she is.

2. Katniss (Hunger Games) Katniss Everdeen, she volunteered as tribute in place of her sister. She proceeded to kill and survive the Hunger Games, defend her of friends, and not to mention she started a rebellion. She killed the president of the President of the Panem. The rebellion came at a very personal cost. She lost her designer, her best friend, and her sister was killed in front of her. She continues on with her life. Despite the many dead bodies shes seen and everything that she lost. She got married and had children. That is true strength.

3. Bellatrix LaStrange (Harry Potter) Bellatrix, one of Voldemorts loyal supports and Aunt to Draco Malfoy is the one witch we all hate to love. She is pure evil, but shes excellent at what she does which is why she got sentenced to life in Azkaban (Wizard prison). She tortured Nevil Longbottoms parents with the Cruciatus curse. She also killed Sirus Black (Bellatrixs cousin and Harry Potters Godfather) and Dobby (the house elf). Shes an instigator and is not afraid of anyone or anything, except making Voldemort disappointed. She even pressured Snape into the unbreakable vow with Malfoys mother.

4. Hermione Granger (Harry Potter) Hermione Granger, best friend of Harry Potter. She is the brains of all operations and has a habit of getting in the way but always helping Harry in any way she can. Shes known for being an insufferable know-it all according to Professor Snape and most of her classmates. Lets face it. Both Harry and Ron would have died multiple times without the knowledge and guidance from Hermione. Plus, shes excellent with her wand.

5. Arya (Eragon, Inheritance Cycle) Arya begins her role as being a prisoner of the magician. Even though she is the Elf princess of Ellesmera. She insists on being the protector of the last free dragon egg. She manages to get captured and tortured for information from the shade Durza. Throughout the cycle (all four books) she proves herself as a warrior, a fighter, and a princess. In the end, she becomes a Shadow slayer and a Dragon rider.
