Wade BSAT 3E People Decides The Outcome of Institution

TTH/1:00-2:30/C503

When we say institution there are lots of meanings that will pop up into our brilliant minds. In broader sense institution is an organization, establishment, foundation, society, or the like devoted to the promotion of a particular cause or program, especially one of a public, educational or charitable character. In addition, in sociology institution is a wellestablished and structured pattern ofbehavior or of relationships that is accepted as afundamental part of a culture, as marriage: the institution of the family. However, even though there are different meanings that may connect to the word institution there is still the question of what really institution do good on us; or is it really good all the way or there are things that make it appear bad. As for my own opinion, institutions are both consist of good and bad, because as we all know there is no such thing as perfect in this world. Let me give you an example, the PNP (Philippine National Police) it is an institution indeed. There are things that we hear about the anomalies the PNP facing. They are sometime corrupt, some are not trustworthy enough, lots of monkey business, and sometime they are involved in illegal doings. This can also be applied to AFP (Armed Forces of The Philippines). However, despite of the bad image they still perform their duties well and that is a good side then. Basing on my example, the institution itself is a good thing. The formation, the goals and the management are clearly for the greater glory. Their vision and mission are also stated clearly and for the good of everyone. However, sometimes an almost perfect institution has its dark sides. It is not the establishment, the group, or anything that can describe it. The impression for an institution or the brand that the institution may get are reflected to what the people under its roof doing. As what I have stated institutions are good only the people that are shading under its roof making it bad. I will go back to my example of PNP and AFP, not all soldiers and policemen of the country are bad they are just branded that way because some of its highly ranked officials done bad or worst things that you can imagine. The institution did not do anything to stain the name of its own roof only those who are sheltering under it.

In conclusion to what I have written, institution will live well if the persons running it or run by it will live to its customs and teachings. It will just be stained by a bad image if one of the most highly positioned in the organization will do something to stain it. In addition, institutions are good but it all depends on the people under it to which way they will go the left or the right. As for me, the people are really the only ones making their institution look bad.
